Rescue Me ID: 14-04-15-00369Dixie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I found Dixie while I was out driving last month. Since then I have had the help of a local shelter (tlcpaws) to get her up to date on shots and to get spayed. The shelter has been trying to help me place her. The vet (chase animal hospital) estimated her to be about 2 years old and is a border collie. She is sweet and loves children and other dogs. I rescued her because she looked thin and it was raining out, and I just felt bad for her. I work and go to school, so I do not have the time she deserves. Serious inquiries reply for more information and pictures. Rehoming fee applies to ensure she goes to a good home.

Please read completely: FOR INFORMATION ON THIS ANIMAL PLEASE CONTACT 256-883-3783. BE SURE TO HAVE ID# READY. Animals at this shelter are held a reasonable amount of time so at the time of posting it is adoptable and not in immediate danger. However, the time period is limited depending upon the shelter population. Please note: THE SHELTER IS FULL. If you are interested in adopting, some of the rates are reduced for the larger dogs or animals that have been in the shelter over a month. If you are interested in fostering, the need is great and we would love to have you. If you are interested in adopting me: 1) Write down my Animal ID # . ... (Read More)2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on me. 4) I cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting me, you can spend time with me outside or in a meet and greet room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that I will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if I am still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt me, I will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where I will be spayed or neutered before going to my new home. If I am already spayed or neutered, I can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), a collar and personalized ID tag. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every animal you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive. ADOPTION FEES Dogs: $83 and up - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention Cats: $73 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, feline aids/leukemia testing, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention LICENSE FEES $10 - 1 year license $35 - Lifetime license EVERY ADOPTER RESIDING IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, AL WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE ONE OF THE ABOVE LICENSE OPTIONS AT TIME OF ADOPTION OPTIONAL SERVICES $10 - Heartworm test. Blood test known as the 'snap test' that shows when heart worm antigens are present in the blood. $20 - Microchip. Another line of defense to help you get your pet back in the event he/she is lost. This is especially recommended for those pets known to climb fences, chew collars/tags, etc. 'Pit bull mixes': Pit bull mixes get a bad rap. First of all, the American Pit bull is different from other bull dog breeds and yet they are typically lumped together. Many are actually American bulldogs, American Staffordshire terriers, boxer mixes, etc. And what percentage of pit bull traits gets a dog declared to be pit bull over whatever other breed he might be mixed with? But more importantly, the pit bull is more typically sweet natured and mellow (despite requiring regular exercise) when trained and handled correctly. Please do not be turned off if a dog that appeals to you is labeled 'pit bull mix'. Come meet it. You will probably be pleasantly surprised and may consider adopting one of the most difficult dogs to find a home for, due to no fault of its own. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-04-04-00123Snow (male)

Border Collie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Snow is a 10 year old neutered border collie. He is shy/timid and tends to take to women better than men. He is very loyal. He needs a home where he can run (but needs to be fenced because he will roam off). He does bark and chase anything with wheels. We are moving into a city subdivision for our kids schooling and we can not take him with us. He has been with me since he was about a year old and we hate to part with him at all but we know that his happiness is at stake. He would not fare will in the city. He was trained on cows for some time but has not used that skill in years. He is very smart and will do anything to please so putting ... Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. It is kind of funny that my name is Buzz as I am a pretty quiet guy. I have a gentle disposition, am a bit shy, and while I get along fine with my kennel mates, I need a home with welcoming/easy-going dogs or no dogs as I can get a little scared with bossier dogs. I like to think of myself as a sensitive soul! I am about 2 years old, will be neutered before adoption, am up to date on all my shots, and would be a great addition to low-key home or a family looking for a quiet fur-friend. I am available at Second Chance Shelter in Boaz for an adoption fee of $30. I may take some time to warm up to you, but don't give up on me, I just ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Alabama
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
