Rescue Me ID: 15-04-15-00078Marion (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Marion is a beautiful 2 year old girl, who had to be surrendered due her her owner's health and her needing to move into senior housing. She is a wonderfully friendly pup. She was staying with a family member outside and is very matted, and they tried to do some grooming with scissors, so her coat is a bit ragged but she will be groomed very soon. When her hair grows out she will be a gorgeous girl. She is wonderful with children, and all adults. She can be a little timid when first meeting other dogs but gets along with them fine once she trusts them. Doesn't seem to mind a cat one way or another. She loves sitting on the couch with her ... (Read More)head on your lap and rides in a car wonderfully. She would be the perfect family pup. Unfortunately, she was use to running loose and will need a yard and a tall fence, preferably a privacy fence, to keep her safe. She is spayed, UTD on her vaccinations and preventatives. Her adoption donation is $200, we are an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) group, so your donations are tax deductible and go right back into the care of these and future wonderful pups. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-01-00398Maddie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

When you look into Maddie's eyes, you're looking into the eyes of someone who just needs a chance. You see, everyone passes Maddie up because of her shy character, and because she's black. But that doesn't make her any less of a lover. She just needs time and patience and for someone to see that black is a color too! Maddie is a 9 month old Aussie/Border collie mix that came to Safe Haven when she was a 6 week old puppy, along with her 7 siblings. And even then, Maddie was the one to stand in the back while everyone else was hungry for attention. They say that the shy dogs make the best dogs. They learn faster! She does warm up, as she is ... (Read More)gong to the dog park regularly now and shes learning socialization skills. I actually saw her go up to a stranger requesting to be petted today! Time. Thats all that's needed. She's such a sweetheart! Maddie gets along well with other dogs (very submissive) and cats. She probably wouldn't do good around younger kids, though, as they tend to be more active and it scares her. Unless you're willing to work on her with that. She is crate trained and will willingly go into her crate at night. She's also spayed and updated on all shots, worming and heartworm prevention. She would really make a good dog, if someone would just give her a chance. If interested in Maddie, please contact me by calling or texting (texting is better) 334-723-5160. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Nik is a 9 month old Aussie/Border Collie mix that came to Safe Haven when he was just a 6 week old puppy. He has longed for a home for so long, and hopefully he will get one soon! Nik is a happy go lucky pup who just enjoys being in your company. Whether it be lounging on the couch enjoying a movie with you, or running with you on your daily runs! He chases balls and Frisbees, but hasn't learned how to bring them back yet lol. Nik gets along well with other dogs, cats and any person he comes into contact with. Although he is a bit leery with toddlers. He kind of shies away from them, but its because I have no kids and he was raised by me. ... (Read More)He has shown no aggression, though, so could probably adjust with no problem. Nik is updated on all shot and worming and has been neutered when he was 5 months old. He is crate trained and partially house trained if you take him out regularly. This boy deserves a home after being at the rescue for so long. Could you be it?? PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Alabama
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
