Rescue Me ID: 14-08-24-00148Mary Kate (female)
Meet Mary Kate. She is an adorable little 3 month old border collie mix pup with loads of personality. She is so cute. Her little face is all hound...short hair and ears that just beg you to rub them. Her body is all border collie - long hair and the black and white of that breed. Her personality is precious. She can be shy and timid at first, but when she gets to know you, she is a little love bug. Mary Kate (sometimes we call her Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) was found as a stray puppy in a rainstorm. She was scared, hungry and riddled with fleas and ticks. Poor little dog! Well, all of that is behind her now. She is completely healthy, completely vetted, including microchip with lifetime registration pre-paid, and ready to make you laugh with her antics. Like all puppies, she will benefit from basic obedience training. With her breed mix, she will do best in a home with an active family that enjoys hiking or outdoor activities. She loves other dogs, so a family with a dog she can pal around with would be great. Her new home should be ready for all of the joys and trials of puppy hood...teething, house-training (although she is doing great with that), and typical puppy antics. Because she is so young, we don't recommend that her family have children under 5 years old. Puppies and toddlers are not usually a good fit. Mary Kate loves people, toys, other dogs and shares her foster home with several cats (who don't want to play with her as much as she wants to play with them). She especially enjoys toys and asks that her new family have plenty of them on hand for her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-12-00261Olivia (female)
Olivia, a well cared for, energetic, 4 year old Border Collie mix (I see some bird dog traits as well) has, through no fault of her own, found herself in need of a loving home. She is medium sized, 40lbs, with a soft, medium-short coat. She is spayed, heartworm negative (on preventive) and up to date on all her shots. Olivia's owner (my friend) relocated to the east coast (to an apartment) in Oct. He took her with him, but she was miserable without a yard to play in. It broke his heart to see her that way. So, in her best interest, he brought her back to AR and I have been fostering her since the first of March. I have known Olivia for about 3 years and she is a VERY GOOD dog! However, she needs to be an ONLY dog. She does not get along with other dogs. (I have two of my own and this is why I can't keep her!) 'Livi' is smart, eager to please and athletic! She loves to fetch a Frisbee or a ball, and needs a fenced yard big enough to do that in. She is house trained (no mistakes since she's been with me, ever!), not a chewer, digger or a climber. She enjoys long afternoons napping in the sun or 'guarding' against those pesky squirrels. To my knowledge, she is not crate trained but has the dining room to herself with a baby gate (to keep her separate from my dogs), and completely respects the boundary with no scratching, barking or whining. She knows basic commands, and loves all people! She is generally a quiet dog, but will bark at noises she doesn't recognize but doesn't bark needlessly. She does howl at sirens, and has a humorous variety of howls! If you have been seriously considering adding a dog to your family, Olivia would make a great addition. She loves my 9 year old grandson, and would love a family! She would also be a devoted companion to a single person. She is past all the nuisance 'puppy' stages, but is still playful! And, after a nice round of catch, she's ready to settle down and be quiet. Olivia is free to the right person/family but I will ask for references and possibly a site inspection. If you are interested in meeting Olivia, please contact me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-05-00826ASHER terrier/borderco (male)
I know you have never met a more grateful and happy little puppy boy in the whole world than me! I am Asher, a terrier mix (they think!), born in April, 2014. I started out my little life unwanted...so that family took my sisters and brothers to a big grocery store and gave us to anyone who would take us. Boy, that sure is not a good way to find a loving, responsible home! A family couldn't resist me and took me to their house... but they soon lost interest in me, didn't feed me and left me outside all by myself. They finally called a lady to take me...or 'else I would be dying soon.' She rushed to get me, and I was a very sad looking little boy. I was covered with all kinds of fleas and ticks .... she spent hours removing them ...in my ears, between my toes, my head,my face, legs, back, tummy - I was covered and so much of my fur was missing. They were literally eating me alive. My little paws were so swollen and infected. My foster Mom cried as she tended to me.....I just laid very still but wagged my tail to let her know I appreciated her love and kindness. She gave me a warm bath after she got all of those nasty ticks off of me and then we went to the vets. I got LOTS of medicines, flea and tick preventative, antibiotics, mothers milk replacement, probiotics, Benadryl and puppy food... but I was still too sick for any shots. She rubbed my body with an all natural healing cream when we got home and then she wrapped me in a soft towel and rocked me to sleep on the front porch. She'd kiss me from time to time, telling me this is how God meant for me to be treated. I never knew that you could feel this good on both the 'inside and the outside'.... love is sure feels good. I have gained so much weight, my fur has grown back in and, boy oh boy, am I a happy, healthy little puppy boy! The vet thought I might weigh 25 lbs but they are thinking I might not get that big! I love to run and play and chase and chew on my toys....and I never want to stop, unless it is for a little nap! She has lots of dogs at her house and they all love me....even her cats love me! I am crate trained and even house trained...she said that is very important. Everyone says I am very sweet and loving....she taught me what sweet and loving means by the way she has cared for me. I follow her everywhere she goes...I'm her little shadow. I'm very smart and she is teaching me so much...I am house and crate trained and you should see me walk nicely on my leash! I have lots of toys and I love playing fetch with them. My foster Mom really loves me but she says that it is time for me to have my very own forever family.....one that will love and care for me. She is very good at finding wonderful families... and she says that my new family will absolutely treasure me! Are you my new forever family? Please contact my foster Mom, Jackie at email@example.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-18-00476Curly Sue (female)
Curly Sue was given away at a local grocery store to what they thought was a good home. The teenager they gave her to was told he could not have her when he got home. The next day she was dumped just 1 mile from the store he got her from. She has been with us for almost a year and really wants a good home. Not recommended for homes with cats, domestic birds or small pets like hamsters.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Arkansas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Arkansas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
