Rescue Me ID: 15-07-07-00539Minnie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Minnie is a 5 yr old border collie/lab mix with the collie being more prominent. She has been a one owner dog. She has been around children her whole life and seems to do well around them. Once she was fixed she began being somewhat less playful. She began getting into the neighbors trash so we put her on a petsafe wireless boundary system and she has been on the system for 4 years. We have moved several times and each move a he began to become more protective and to the point it was towards any strangers. She has nipped at the heels of some strangers. She is fearful of very load noises such as fireworks, lawnmowers, guns. She loves being ... (Read More)indoors but also loves running and exploring outdoors. She hasn't been able to explore freely while on the boundary system. We like that she is protective but seems like she can't differentiate between good and bad strangers and we just don't have the time to train her in knowing the difference with commands. She is very smart and needs lots of room to run. I'd love to find her a home where maybe she got the correct obedience training bc she literally is a loveable animal. My children crawl in the cage with her.She is just very protective of her family. Please help bc if we can't find a home soon we will have to have her put down. (Less)

BANDIT Can you tell from looking at my picture that I am so happy to meet you! I am...I just know you are going to be my forever family and my very own people! I am Bandit, a Border Collie mix, born in June, 2015 who is ready to steal your heart! I was dumped out in the country with my friend when when I was about 8 months old, just a little guy, and I was so frightened and hungry. No one to love me, feed me, or take care of me. We saw a house and some people so we went to them, hoping they would help us. I call them my foster family because they welcomed both of us and have cared for us until we are healthy enough to find our forever ... (Read More)loving homes. When they first saw us, we were just 'skin and bones', slowly starving to death and so scared. They fed us lots of yummy food plus treats....and I am feeling so much better! I'm not frightened any more and I know what love is too! They give me lots of attention and have told me that they are going to find both of us loving forever families. We can stay together or go to separate homes....but the most important thing is that our homes are loving and kind. Have you been looking for a loving grateful forever fur friend???? I'm here, just waiting to steal your hearts! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Arkansas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Arkansas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
