Lucy was rescued with her sister as a puppy covered in fleas and ticks. Unfortunately, Lucy, now no longer a tiny puppy, is being returned to us. Sadly, adopting puppies out is always a risk- in Lucy's case, her family was not sincere when detailed about her breed mix (Border Collie & German Shepherd, most likely) and how her energy level would be. Now that she's no longer a cute little puppy, but a full-grown dog with lots of energy that needs exercise, she is no longer loved. Lucy is an incredible dog. I've been working with her since she was about 5 months old. She's now 7-8 months old and 40lbs. She's crate trained, potty trained, leash ...      This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Check out Turbo, a seemingly super mellow guy. He is a NEUTERED male, 3 year old, 62 pound black and white Border Collie mix. He absolutely melts with joy when his ears are scratched and was wonderful on the leash with his handler. Turbo sat very well on command and seems HIGHLY TRAINABLE. He has beautiful soulful eyes and one floppy ear that folds down when he's listening.     looking for a good home for Lucy. She will be 2yrs old 12/10 she is fixed, shots, potty trained, fetches and sits. Good with cats and dogs. Will need to meet her at her home as Lucy does not get out and meet and greet for 1st time should be in her domain so she isn't nervous. My circumstances have changed and if I don't find her a home by end of week she will have to go to the pound and that is devastating :( Also, the last time she was around a kid was b4 she was a year old and it was a newborn and she was great however I don't have kids but she does love her cat companions and people and other dogs so I'm sure it would be fine :)

Backstory: Happy and his life long companion, a Beagle, both seniors were dumped at a shelter in LA county by their owners. A rescue came and took the Beagle, leaving Happy behind. We were told of this story and rescued him. Happy has been in foster care for 3 months and he still has moments where he looks very sad, still missing his best friend. Happy is great with humans and other dogs. he is NOT good with cats or small farm animals. Happy is a very affectionate and loving boy............unless you tell him to do something. He was apparently the alpha in his last home and took orders from nobody. His current foster has made ... (Read More)progress with him but feels somebody more assertive would be the best thing for him. We do have a trainer avaiable by phone to help with this issue, which is very fixable with a confident human alpha. When we first got Happy, he was so filthy and matted that he had to be shaved down but his coat has since grown out beautifully. He is a senior boy that deserves a warm bed and a loving home to spend his golden years. If you are interested in this boy, please fill out our adoption application: https://form.jotform.com/60815119286155 Happy's adoption fee is 150 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet DANNY BOY Sunday April 17th 12-4 PM. At GEORGE STORE in BERKELEY. 1824 Fourth Street, in the parking lot area. *Foster update* 4/10/16 'Danny is great with other dogs big and small, he is very playful. He is great in the home, potty trained and seems to only chew on the dog toys. Danny is very smart and learns commands quickly. He will need continued training but has the basics down now. Danny would prefer an adult only home with another dog or two. He has shown some herding behaviors so though he can be very sweet with children it may be too much to have them running around.' Oh Danny Boy! What a cutie - an active, outgoing, waggy ... (Read More)fellow ready for more activities, learning, stimulation, socialization and FUN!! He was a stray in Merced taken in by a lovely elderly couple who found that he needed more than they could provide though they took great care of him! He is a lucky Danny Boy and ready for a herding breed savvy home that can provide the exercise, stimulation and training he needs and deserves to be the truly great dog he is! $350 adoption fee. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lois (black & white) and Clark (brown) are best friends and have been through a lot together. They are a bonded pair and together they could make your family complete. They were reunited after having a week apart. And when they saw each other they hugged and kiss. We could clearly see how much they loved each other. Lois is around 2 years old and about 50 pounds. She is the best kind of dog, a mystery mix! (Collie, Shepherd, Pit?) She is very sweet and loving, good with dogs and people. Not a barker. She is well on her way to being 100% house trained. In a pinch, she has used the pee pads. Not bad for a girl who hasn't had a ... (Read More)place to call home. Clark is a 2 year old pit mix. He is also very sweet and loving but is shy at first. He loves looking out of the window in the car and is an inquisitive, bright boy. He is a pitbull mix. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Adoption process includes an adoption contract and home check. Adoption fee for dogs are $300 - 500 and for cats are $175. All of our animals are fixed, vaccinated, and chipped. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Huck and his brother Tom came to us from a shelter where they were brought in as strays. Around seven months old, it is obvious they have been together for a long time. These boys are definitely Border Collies/and or German Shepherd in personality and intelligence. They crave the human touch and just being near you. We feel there could also be some black lab in them. We feel they will be somewhere around 60 pounds when full grown, more or less. Not knowing anything about a crate when they got to their foster home, they now crate on command without a peep for the night. Leash training is going very well though it is clear they ... (Read More)didn't know what that was either. They want only to please and, with their smarts, learn very very quickly. They live in a foster home with a 10-month-old and are amazing with him (though they need to be reminded the baby is not a littermate and doesn't play the same way). We are looking for homes where their new humans have experience with Border Collies or herding breeds. It would be helpful if you could include your experience if/when you apply to be an adopter for either of these boys. You can find the information you need to know and the link for the online application on the Adoption Process page of our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org. Or, read on... All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
