Rescue Me ID: 18-04-24-00168Yuki (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Yuki flew in on the wings of Dean yesterday. Thank you Pilots n Paws and John Breckenridge! She was in Hesperia. Owner turn in for jumping the fence. 3 years old, Yuki had always been an inside dog, and I think she wants to know what's out there beyond walls! She's a Border Collie for Pete's sake! A bored Border Collie. She wound up in a shelter for this... Yuki was only let out of the house to go potty, and took every opportunity to escape. Very depressed at the shelter. You can see in those photos. Things are changing fast for Yuki! Yuki was in a kennel one minute, then a car, plane, van, big yard, lots of dogs AND.... she slept ... (Read More)OUTSIDE last night. It was a beautiful night. She was nice and quiet, and very happy to see me this morning, tail waving gently. Since Yuki was a known artist in the area of escape, I was very observant of her in my yard. She immediately tried to find a breach in the recently remodeled fortress. And had a look of defeat when she couldn't scale my fence. She came back over to me by the deck and laid down with the pack. I still put her in a covered kennel run first night. The next day, we all went out on a pack walk. She walks very well on leash, but actually began to pull wanting to get at all the things there are to smell and check out on our hike. We switched from a 6 ft leash, to a 20 footer after about an hour, and I began working on her recall. She's doing really well! Tomorrow, she'll get to drag the longline, and will reassess. The goal is off leash. And eventually, with enough energy drained and an unboring life, she will stop her Houdini act. But it's a process. For now, she would be unavailable to anyone who doesn't have a no climb fence. But, she may just be the dog who goes to a home with no fences.     Really nice, young boy, about 1 yr. Koa Came from Fresno CCSPCA. He's a really nice and friendly guy. Outgoing personality and fantastic with other dogs. He just got here, there are only a couple females dogs here and he's excellent with the boys. Looks like a few herding breeds in here. He's 50 lbs, tall, tricolor, Border Collie and Australian Shepard looking. Smooth coat. His second day here, he just watched us work around the yard, literally lounging with his new friends. He's been really good, no barking, no digging, no trouble at all. Koa is an easy keeper. Our first pack walk was excellent!! Not a question of this dog not coming ... (Read More)to me by calling his name. And now he knows a whistle means ' Show yourself!' Koa had a blast running the hills and playing in the water. Really good boy. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jazzee is a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix who was born in October 2017. She has most of the energy of a Border Collie with the fuzziness of a Great Pyr. If her adopter takes it slow with her, they will be rewarded with a big, cuddly, active girl. Jazzee is initially shy. I was able to make friends by not being pushy, hanging out, and feeding her. She warms up quickly with that kind of attention and then becomes a goofy girl. She knows to sit if she wants a treat. She is crate trained and mostly house trained. Jazzee is going to to be mid-large, we think in the 60-70 pound range. She is good with other dogs and likes to play. She also ... (Read More)very much attaches to her person. A home with older, quiet kids willalso be fine. She isn't at all mean. Young, active kids may make her scared. Jazzee is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. Meet and greets and adoptions must occur in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

What do you get when an unaltered Border Collie and Shar Pei get together? Waldo, that's what. He's about 2, and Cuter than cute. Loves other dogs. and had just too much energy for the senior adopter who pulled him out of the pound about a month ago. 'He's a love, but we just can't do him justice' she said as the tears rolled down the faces of the 3 ladies who brought Waldo here. The couple mile walks, on leash, were a snore for him. Waldo needs off leash action. Not a ton, just a reasonable amount by herding dog standards, ok? Photos updated at: ...     Gretchen. She is 5 years old and the mother of Sister and Brownie, who were adopted. Lets pay attention to Gretchen! Gretchen has been here a couple months. And now, one of the chosen house dogs. Totally trustworthy inside. She holds it, or uses the dog door, and respects boundaries, like the threshold of an open door. She is very well mannered. She knows better. Turn key dog. She's great on or off a leash. She simply becomes your dog. Gretchen is fantastic with other dogs, in a pack or one on one. She's the sweetest most affectionate girl ever! She loves to give kisses and wants pets, and wants to be everywhere you are. She's not ... (Read More)shy, very well balanced, happy girl. At 5 years old, Gretchen still has all the energy her 18 mo. pups have. She needs someone active! So don't let the premature grey grizzling on her muzzle fool ya! She's a typical young border collie! Normally a dog like Gretchen wouldn't be here more than a day. But there have been quite a few her age, with less energy, that some older folks were more comfortable with. Gretchen would do great on a property with no fences. She only wants to be with her family, pack and person. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mabel is not available for placement until late April, but we are taking applications to see if we can match her to the perfect home prior to that time. Visit her FACEBOOK page 'Mabel The Coalinga Rescue Dog' to learn about her journey from the oil fields in Coalinga, CA to the good life in the San Fernando Valley. Mabel is 34 pounds of sunny disposition, she is 18 months old. She is an affectionate people oriented dog. She has lovely house manners, is affectionate and cuddly yet manages on her own quite well. She is housebroken, very comfortable in a crate and has basic obedience skills. She hasn't barked yet, doesn't whine and she ... (Read More)doesn't mind the rain. But NO CATS or critters! She will require mental and physical stimulation - she is obsessed with retrieving the ball and maybe a Frisbee - but her physical condition from the abuse she sustained prior to rescue would likely prevent her from extended exertion in competition sports (i.e, no day-long hiking, agility/flyball, etc). She would love Barn Hunt! Her forever home must have the ability to discern how much physical activity she could manage without causing herself pain or soreness. If you think you would like to make Mabel a part of your home for the rest of her life, please submit an Application to Adopt and we will contact you to arrange for a private meeting. If you would like to donate to Mabel's on-going medical bills (over $1400 to date) you can do so at Adopt Me Rescue's PayPal (adoptmerescue.org). (Less)

I absolutely love this dog! He's been with me for 7 years now. He is sweet, independent great with kids. We used to be very active together, hikes, walks to the beach, we even used to go fishing together. He is an Akita border collie mix. And I believe is the Akita part in him that makes him a runner. He absolutely needs a fence with a decent size backyard. The only reason why I feel like I can't keep him, it's because the place that I'm living in doesn't have a secure fence, I recently had a baby and I can't take him for as many walks as we used too.     Hi I'm Azul. I'm a 1 year old Husky Border Collie Mix (maybe shepherd). I'm a sweet and affectionate playful girl, who just wants attention and love. I'm good with all dogs and people. I am also crate trained, I walk well on leash and loves car rides. I am also house trained and very communicative with my humans. I would make an excellent companion to a person or a family. My foster considers me to be medium to high energy, but is good around the house. I could use some basic training but I am smart and willing to please. I am vision impaired (I'm not blind!) but sometimes I can get surprised easily but my foster says I get around great ... (Read More)otherwise. I will be UTD on vaccines, microchipped and spayed when I'm ready for adoption. Until then, I will be looking forward to meeting my future people! Will you consider me into your life?     Hi! I'm Trotsky! I'm a 10 year old border collie mix that recently joined PPITS to to find my new forever family. I'm a sweet boy, that loves attention and cuddles and overall a very chill pup. I love relaxing in the yard and on a comfy bed or couch. I'm very gentle with kids of all ages and get along with calmer dogs. I'm looking for a family that I can spend the rest of my life with and I can love with all I have. Will that be you?

On walks she can be reactive to barking dogs behind a fence. We are currently working to correct this behavior, however counter conditioning training will need to continue.     I am hoping you will be open to doing a courtesy post on your social media feeds (FaceBook and/or Instagram). I decided to foster a dog from an LA county shelter and chose Zero. Unfortunately, Zero has severe separation anxiety and I work full-time. I was told by the shelter if I return him, he will more than likely be euthanized, as he has been surrendered twice before due to his anxiety. As a temporary solution, friends are babysitting him during the day and in a bind, I send him to daycare. I desperately want to find him the right situation, as soon as possible. So, I'm reaching out in as many directions as possible. I've written a little ... (Read More)blurb and included photos, in case you can do a courtesy post. I'd like for potential adopters to contact me, rather than the shelter, because I want to make sure he goes to the right home and is not returned to the shelter. Zero is a sweet border collie mix with a loyal personality and teddy bear face. He enjoys water play and is easy to take to dog parks, dog friendly restaurants or for a walk/hike/run, but also enjoys a lazy day at the house and can be quite the couch (dog bed) potato. He is an intuitive dog and quickly picks up what his owner is desiring. Very lovable, he attracts much interest but is waiting to find the right fit as he needs someone who will not leave him alone until he is able to handle his isolation anxiety in steps, which may include taking him to doggy daycare or sharing him with friends and family. Shy at first he warms up quick. He may not be cat friendly. He is house broken, knows basic commands and is learning more every day. ~45lbs and 5 years old or less. The best way to reach me is 530-917-3935. Thank you, Amanda (Less)

I'm a clicker trained, healthy, cattle drivin' dog who needs a home where I can't chase cars. I am well loved, but need a home where I have a chance to learn new things, I'm pretty shy, but can really bloom with the right person. I get along pretty well with other border collies, and I love cats, but have been known to have temper tantrums, so need tolerant friends. I make a lot of noise, but don't hurt others.

Indy is about three-years-old and is loyal, intelligent, attentive and treat-motivated. He goes for daily walks and runs in San Francisco and loves to go exploring with his owners. Indy prefers to stay inside with minimal stimulations while his owners are at work. He is very well house-trained, doesn't chew on items he shouldn't chew on and sleeps most of the day provided that he has a soft bed to lie on. He will also hang out in his crate with the door open/closed during the day. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate. Indy is good on a leash, responsive to recall and knows basic commands including 'Go to bed'. Unfortunately, his ... (Read More)owners are away from their small apartment for 8-10 hours per day and hope they can find a new, more stimulating home for Indy that has room for him to be active. Daniel adopted Indy from a shelter in Twin Falls, Idaho when Indy was about 6 months old (summer 2014). He was rescued running the streets of Twin Falls and most likely had poor initial socialization before he was found. He is fearful of strangers and can be aggressively protective at times. Indy is a herding breed or guardian breed mix and would do best in a home that has experience with these types of breeds and that understands the exercise, training, and socialization that these dogs require. He is extremely interested in cats/rabbits/squirrels and would do best in a one animal house. A quieter home with one or two people would be ideal for Indy, as he can be nervous around new people at first but once he warms up to you he will love you forever. Indy is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has had a recent physical exam. Indy's owner will drive to meet you where you are if you're interested in adopting. Indy is looking for his own safe haven to call his forever home. He also lives for cuddles on the couch! He is a fantastic companion.     Meet Fonzy Bear! This friendly guy is a darling mutt who is most likely a Great Dane/Border Collie cross but...your guess is as good as ours! We are ideally looking to place this giant goofball in a rural area so he has tons of space to run and play. He tends to get overexcited when meeting new dogs-that paired with his size makes him not quite built for dog-park life. That being said, he loves other dogs and with a proper introduction, he does totally fine with most dogs! He loves to romp, play and go on hikes with his doggy pack but ultimately we envision this guy on a large plot of land with a doggy best friend to explore and play ... (Read More)with. He loves people and is all wiggle and cuddles but definitely bonds closely with his humans. When new people enter the home, he does alert but is quick to warm up. He is a smart dog who is food motivated and loves to learn! His current foster mom reports that he is as an easy-going dog in the house and has good manners. He is great at play fetch, has basic commands, is fully house trained and has no issues being left for hours at a time. He is good with children but due to his size/strength, we are looking to place him in a family with kids 12 and older. If you're looking to add a country bumpkin to your home who has a million dollar smile, is addicted to belly rubs and has goof-ball personality, Bear is your boy! He is an awesome copilot and fun to have around. His foster mom said she would keep him in a second if she could! PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
