Daisy is a 5-6yr old Border Collie available for adoption. Daisy is a sweet dog, never without a smile and is fully vetted (including blood work ) and she's being fostered in Topanga (southern) CA She does have a slight tremor in one rear leg, but other than favoring the other leg when she sits, it does not stop her from running, hiking or fetching toys. Daisy is a great companion as she is a sweet, easy dog who is house and leash trained. She's been in a small canine rescue in Southern California, with no interest. But, they are not a herding dog rescue. So Helen her care giver, reached out for help in finding Daisy a home. She is a ... (Read More)worthy girl! Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is Daisy. She is a 5-6 year old Border Collie mix gal looking for a great home. She weighs about 44 pounds. For someone who wants all of the benefits and striking good looks of a Border Collie with a little bit less of the crazy energy, this is your gal! Just like you would expect, Daisy is a smartie looking to learn more. So far, she knows basic commands. With this breed, they are always ready to learn. Daisy is a polite girl. She is house and crate trained. She loves adventures and is good on leash and in a car. She does have a slight tremor in one leg, but the vet has checked it out. She has had a full blood panel and ... (Read More)physical exam and has a clean bill of health. Her tremor in no way slows her down. She is a total fetching nut and loves to run and go for long walks or hikes with her person. She is a beach girl and full of activity. Daisy is also very nice. She is good with both women and men. She is also polite with other dogs. She would rather play with a person, since she adores fetch, but is content living with a dog pal, large or small. She is happiest as an only dog but happy to live with quiet dogs who aren't pushy. Daisy is all about her people! She has a lovely smile (yes, you read that right) and will lean into her person for love. She also rolls in her back to be sure she gets a good belly rub. She is a very sweet girl. Daisy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to meet potential adopters in So Cal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi. I'm trying to find a home for this sweet girl, Freckles. She will be 5 years old in December. I'm a realtor and had asked the sellers of a home my clients were purchasing if they would be willing to leave the dog with the house because she was kept outside, on the side of the house in direct sun, 24/7 with a shock collar on and no cover from the elements except for her dog house (which didn't have a bed or blanket in it.) They agreed to leave her (and of course I gave her a bed and blanket the day they did) but I haven't been able to find a home for her. My clients have 2 dogs already and the HOA only allows a maximum of 2 dogs (plus ... (Read More)their dogs are small (shih tzus) and afraid and this dog just because she is a lot bigger than them and tries to play with them with her high energy that they aren't used to.) She is a very sweet dog. She is spayed, microchipped (with instructions how to change the owner info), and current on her shots. She is used to being around kids, the previous owner has 3 kids, one still in diapers. She doesn't seem to care for cats although the only thing I'm basing that on is that while I had her on one of her walks she tried to chase a cat we saw. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-01-00017Clancy (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This sweet boy is a little shy when meeting new people but oh so gentle. He has very good manners, is content relaxing by his owner's side, and is quite the 'looker' might I add. He is very good on the leash, responds well to correction and has good recall with his past owner, (who is also fostering him until we help her find his next family). Although Clancy's toys go a little neglected, he does love chewing on sticks he finds. He gets nervous around loud noises, so is probably best going to a home with a peaceful environment and no young kids- also frightening for him! He is looking for a gentle mannered leader who will take him for daily ... (Read More)strolls, beach walks and allow him to warm up at his own pace. He promises to be a loyal companion! To meet Clancy, please contact us here at DAWG: 805-681-0561, so that we can schedule a time for his foster mom to bring him by. He is definitely worth meeting. This is what Clancy's previous owner has to say about him, (she is also fostering him until a great home is found!): 'His best qualities are that he is a well behaved pooch! He only barks when someone comes to the door and stops as soon as you tell him or he greets the guest and gets assured they are a good person. I have never seen or experienced any animosity from Clancy to others, or dogs. He typically will greet a dog on a walk and then once he gets a good smell is off to enjoy his walk. I let him off the lead and he listens well. He will however chase the squirrels, but still when I call him, he always returns. He loves hiking and running on the beach too. We lived near the beach for the first few years and now we live near the foot hills. Both he loves to walk and run on. When we are at work, as long as he has his bed, food and water, he is fine. He stays indoors for 6-8 hours and has never had an accident. In our old house he had a doggie door to the secured back yard. But in our condo he does not and still is fine. He does not bark all day and will be so excited to see you return. He is a great companion and will be content to lay around wherever he knows the love is!! I am a writer and as long as he gets his walks throughout the day, he is content to lay around while I am working, doing housework, etc. His shortcomings are that he does not like to be alone too much. He is scared of certain noises like the vacuum, (he will hide) or when certain frequencies go off. We found an old contraption with a battery that would beep every so often and he hated it. Other than that is really is a perfect dog. He is good around kids but will sneak away when they are done petting him. He really is a one dog family. Clancy is a perfect companion for a single person, retired, or a couple that just wants one loving perfect pet. The only reason I am even considering giving Clancy a new home is because my life evolved into an opportunity to travel for my career, which was not the plan when I got Clancy!! He is the most loving and loyal pet I have ever had, but as he is only 7, he has energy and needs to be with an owner who is home more than not. I am willing to continue to pay for his food as he has perfect poo! Also the yearly vet visit.' (Less)

At first he was a little iffy on the whole hug thing, a little undignified maybe? Now, he waits for them lol! I can see why the staff at Riverside were desperate to get him out of the shelter.     Her name may be 'Stormy' but she's all about sunshine and fluffy clouds. This young girl has already had so many life experiences: picked up on the streets as a pregnant youngster barely past puppyhood herself, fostered thru Rescue Ranch where she birthed and mothered two lovely pups, then adopted from the Ranch and returned very recently because 'she didn't get along with cats'. None of this seems to have bothered Stormy a bit. She is friendly, happy and playful. She is so eager and quick to learn, responding to treats, toys, and praise. We're pretty sure that if you're worried about her with cats, we can work with you to easily fix ... (Read More)that -- that's how trainable she seems. She has plenty of energy for fun and play, but overall is quite a mellow girl, especially for such a youngster. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Keela is a sweet, playful youngster looking for a home in an active household. She's a busy girl who loves playing with toys, and/or people. As a fairly-new arrival at Rescue Ranch, we're not sure about compatibility with cats or children, but given her happy nature and young age, that should go well. She's been okay with the dogs she's met so far at the Ranch. Keela will need plenty of exercise, both mental and physical, and would benefit from some basic obedience training.     Backstory: Happy and his life long companion, a Beagle, both seniors were dumped at a shelter in LA county by their owners. A rescue came and took the Beagle, leaving Happy behind. We were told of this story and rescued him. Happy has been in foster care for 3 months and he still has moments where he looks very sad, still missing his best friend.     7/28/16 Update: These 2 wonderful dogs have never had a place to call home. We are open to adopting them out separately with a trial period to make sure they are happy. Lois and Clark are best friends and have been through a lot together. They are a bonded pair and together they could make your family complete. They were reunited after having a week apart and when they saw each other they hugged and kiss. We could clearly see how much they loved each other. They are low maintenance, house trained, walk great on leash, love toys, and not high energy. Healthy, fixed, vaccinated and chipped. Clark (brown) is a 2 yr old pit mix. He is ... (Read More)very sweet & loving but shy at first. He is an inquisitive, bright boy. He just had training & did very well. An owner who continues calm assertiveness would be ideal. He does not do well with dogs who are dominant. He particularly loves playing with small, male dogs. He is submissive & good with all people and has found his soulmate in Lois. Lois is around 2 years old and about 50 pounds. She is the best kind of dog, a mystery mix! (Collie, Shepherd, Pit?) She is very sweet and loving, good with dogs and people. Not a barker. She is well on her way to being 100% house trained. In a pinch, she has used the pee pads. Not bad for a girl who hasn't had a place to call home. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
