1 yr. old females. Not related. But they get along like they are... and with all of the dogs. No problems with dog socialization, whatsoever. Ella is the black and white Queensland/Border mix. Brooke is the red Queensland, with the cropped tail (I didn't do it!). They are very sweet, and well behaved. Great off leash and in the car. No problems! I took them out off leash the day they got here. Only problem was keeping them far enough away to take photos! More to come, but both girls, no brainers!     5 gorgeous pups, flown in thank you Pilots N Paws, Matt, and Wayne!! From north of Ukiah in a very rural area. Rancher, refuses to spay or neuter their working dogs, under a false assumption, they won't work as well if sterilized... archaic thinking. It's for the health of your dogs and human decency... there are decent humans out there.... hopefully reading this page... The community gets the pups from the ranch, before he starves them to death... so here they are. And we're dealing with it. These puppies WILL be spayed and neutered! They have one vaccination, and on schedule for 2 more, then rabies and sterilization surgery. The ...     This boy is Rigs, a 1 year old Cattledog/Border Collie mix. Some say he looks like a McNab. Either way, he is a really neat dog looking for a great home. He weighs about 45 pounds. He has a docked tail. Rigs is a smart guy. He knows sit, back, lay down, and kennel. He is also polite in the house as he is crate trained. He is mostly house trained and will need just a few reminders to be settled in. Rigs is a nice boy. He is good with men and women. He lives with younger kids, but they do make him a bit nervous. So, older kids would be fine. He is also nice with other dogs. He lives with two Cattledogs already. He is also good around goats, ... (Read More)sheep, horses, and even chickens. However, he does chase cats, so his new home should not have cats. Rigs loves a good game of fetch. So, he likes balls and other toys. He is also learning about the leash and car. He loves water, too. He will make a wonderful adventure companion. He will thrive in a home that can keep him busy. Like many herding breeds, he does like a polite introduction to new people. One that happens, he greets them when they come over. He is very much dedicated to his people. He loves to cuddle and he really wants to please. Rigs is located in Yucaipa. He is ready to meet potential adopters in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This lovely young girl is Reba. She is a 1 year old Border Collie/Aussie mix who weighs about 50 pounds. She is located near Porterville, CA, which is near Visalia. Reba is a very smart girl and she will learn quickly. At the moment, she knows to come when called and goes to bed when told to go to her kennel. She is also house trained, but will benefit from reinforcement in her new home just so she knows that the rules are the same in her new home. That should be easy, since she is also crate trained. Reba is a friendly gal. She is good with men and with women. She was also raised with a 5 year old kid, so should be good with polite kids. ... (Read More)She is also good with other dogs and likes to play. She does tend to prefer dog pals her size and larger. With a non-pushy small dog she should be fine. Reba is learning about the leash and is already good in the car. So, she will be a wonderful adventure partner. She does love the pool, too. Reba loves chicken and cats too much, meaning she will definitely chase them. So, a home without chickens and cats is needed. That said, she is learning to be good with horses, so a home with horses should be fine. Reba is just a gorgeous gal looking for a home to cherish her. With just a bit of time, she will be an amazing dog. Reba is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is ready for the right home. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

About 4 yrs. He was found and picked up at Kings County. He had an avid chip, unregistered. But Quigley was someone's dog. He's well socialized with other dogs. He is housebroken and knows to use the dog door. He follows me around off leash. And I never had to touch him to load or unload into my van. He even crates up on his own. Lovely dog. Quigley appears to be spaniel, Border Collie, and possibly Heeler, from the ticking on his legs. His disposition is just terrific. Great dog!     I rescued Lula in 2013. They came as a package deal, which was more than I expected, but I thought I would try. I love her a lot! She is very, very loving! She still thinks she is a puppy and loves to jump up on my lap and sleep, or lay next to me on the couch. She is very loving. I just tell her 'Out!' so that she goes straight out to the back yard in the morning. Then, she settles down a bit! Lula's fur is perfect! It is long enough to be furry, and short enough to rarely need a shampooing! She readily takes a shower and tolerates shampoo and conditioner with a good rinse. She has never gotten sick. She had her first shots. ... (Read More)She is Spayed. She has rarely gone on a walk. She broke two muzzles. She sits, and lays, on command, for a treat, and readily runs to her cage for a treat... or...directly dives under the bed! I was told that she attacked to the kill, so, I never took the chance of bringing her out! I was afraid she would hurt another dog. She cried to the high heavens if I took her puppy out without her! The neighbors complained! Since then, she and her puppy have separate cages and she has let the puppy not be with her all the time. She has had a good, protected life, and has been fed Canidae ALS since day one. I actually only wanted the her, but, I found out that she and her puppy were a 'package deal' and just took them both! Time flies when you are having fun! I can hardly believe that four years has passed since I took them in! Lula is very protective of me. I broke my leg a couple years back, and that was another reason I could not handle her and her puppy on a walk! So, she has lived inside and has gone only in the back yard. I now operate a Bed and Breakfast with new people coming in and out all day long, and cannot take the chance of Lula being protective of me when a new guest is just trying to come in the door! She needs training, she is very smart! She could be a 'Frisbee' dog with a little bit of influence! Lulabelle is the mother of seven, or nine puppies. Her last right rib is noticeable; I always wondered if when she was pregnant they made some room for her puppies (I do not know for sure). Or, she may have been kicked by a horse, or maybe a man. She is very, very loving, but, she is now a bit jealous of her puppy, Chula! She will growl to let her pup know to back away from me. But, the puppy is coming into her own, and will now growl back, and not back away! I just tell them, 'No! Knock it off!' and they quit...for a moment...then they move away from each other. I tell them 'Off!' if they begin a power struggle in my lap. I am not afraid of them, I am just trying to interrupt their cognitive behavior, so they do not make it a habit. Lulabelle, the mother, I call 'The Chaser of Light!' I have a crystal in the window that reflects light at a certain time of the day. It is hilarious watching her chasing the light on the floor! At first, I thought, 'What IS she DOING?' The puppy barks at her crazy mom chasing the light! They chase sticks and need a little coaxing to 'Drop it!' She is smarter than her puppy and will hide if she thinks you are about to put her back in the cage. I just take her by the collar and gently coax her with the firm command to, 'Walk!' But, she runs to her cage for a treat! I ask, 'Do you want some?' And, she runs to her cage. But, of course, lately, I have had to cage her so often, just so she is completely controlled around my new guests. I think Lulabelle is on to me! She hides or just stops in her tracks and lays on her back for an impromptu belly rub so I cannot move her! Anything to avoid going to the cage so soon! She has been raised with a lot of people in my family around, and if left out of the cage all day with family, she just minds her own business once she gets used to everyone being there. When new people walk in the door, Lulabelle barks LOUD. It is then that I command her 'Off!' so she does not jump up, and 'Off!' to get off the couch. She has been around two toddlers, and the toddlers have crawled in their cages with Lula and her puppy! But, still, I would never say to trust any dog around toddlers! All-in-all, Lula is a very loving dog who deserves a good family to love her! I pray she gets adopted soon! (Less)

Dusty is a sweet and bonding boy who is extremely intelligent and needs and craves direction. He is a dog that would love to learn as many words and commands as possible and would very likely soak up agility training like a little sponge! Dusty wants a job, he wants to learn. When just left without activity and something to do you can see that he feels like his mind is starving and he will make up his own obstacle course and track around his yard, going in the same circle and stopping at the same objects. Dusty is the kind of dog that would have been perfect for what he was breed to do, so as a pet he will need someone who wants to work ... (Read More)with and train their dog words and commands and activities, as he would love nothing more than to have someone to work and play with, and then cozy up with at the end of the day!! He loves attention and to interact, but without an outlet for his intelligence and drive he can disconnect and develop OCD behaviors, namely the circling behavior mentioned previously. When he gets into this anxious state it can be difficult to get his focus, but when you do he is on point and ready to learn. Dogs with Dusty's drive, intelligence and need for direction do not generally do well in a shelter environment (even at a sanctuary with a large yard) without enough to occupy their minds and we would love to get him into a home ASAP!! Dusty would be a dream dog for a training minded individual with an active lifestyle. Please contact us at sanctuary@milofoundation.org if you feel that you could be a great team! (Less)

Border Collie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed

Trillian is a people dog. She will tolerate most other dogs but she likes people more than anything else (people and sleeping on beds). Trillian (7 years old) has always been a great family dog while it was just me and my wife but the introduction of a new baby to the house has made her uneasy and unhappy. We have had her for a long time but don't want to risk her or our baby's safety and we want her to be happier. She is current on all vaccinations but does have a bad back from a past injury. *courtesy post*

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sterling is a 2 year old Border Collie/English Setter mix who is looking to go from stray to beloved companion. He weighs about 40 pounds. Sterling is very shy and submissive when you first meet him but he warms up quickly. Now that he has gotten to know his foster dad, he no longer rolls over but instead greets with a smile and tail wag. Sterling is still very much a pup. He is like a puppy in the way that he plays. He loves toys, especially plush toys because they are easy to grab and play with. Sterling seems to love all dogs. He loves to lick the other dogs faces. He also loves to run with his dog pals and will relish a home where ... (Read More)he has at least one doggy friend that is also young. Sterling is polite in the house. He will lay quietly by the feet of his foster mom while she works. He is free in the house all day, even when the folks are gone, and has access to a dog door. He hasn't had any accidents and hasn't caused any mischief, so we deem him to be a polite boy. He knows sit and responds well to correction. His foster mom only has to say no one time. He will jump up when he gets excited but if you tell him to sit he will every time. His overbite doesn't seem to cause him any trouble. It just makes him extra cute! He can grab balls and toys. Sterling is a very easy dog- a dream dog- and a LOVE! He is looking for a home with quiet adults and maybe quiet older kids. He will continue to blossom into an amazing companion and be ready for fun outings, too. He is nice on leash and loves to check out the neighborhood. Sterling is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is ready to meet potential homes in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Animal ID: Charlie Girl  (female)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

This gorgeous girl is Charlie, a 4 year old Border Collie girl. She weighs just over 50 pounds. Charlie girl is a smartie. While she may be deaf, she knows her commands via hand signal. She knows sit, down, go to bed, stay, and come. She loves to learn and is eager to please. It would be easy to teach her more, if someone wanted to show her tricks. Charlie girl is also polite in the house. She is house and crate trained. She also loves adventures. She is good on leash and polite as a passenger in a car, so she is ready to go with her new adopter to have lots of fun. Charlie also likes to play fetch, though sometimes she doesn't always give ... (Read More)the ball back. Charlie is good with adults and older kids. She has not been around younger kids, so a home with older kids would be better for her. As is normal with deaf dogs who meet new dogs, Charlie is good with dogs that she knows. However, she can be nervous in meeting new dogs, since she doesn't her them coming up to her. So, Charlie needs a home that helps her to make polite introductions. Also, she prefers a home without a dog who is too energetic. She likes calmer dog siblings and does play with them. She would also be nice as an only dog. If she has dog siblings, she prefers dogs her own size. She also lives with a cat, but she does chase sometimes. So, any new cat sibling would need to be dog savvy. Charlie is a very sweet girl. She loves to cuddle. She will crawl up onto you to get a hug. She will lick feet, if allowed. She is a very happy girl who loves to be loved. She has a very soft coat, so it's easy to spend time petting her! Charlie is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is ready to meet potential adopters in So Cal. A home check and vet reference are required. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Midnight, a gorgeous and active girl who is looking for a patient adult home where she can be a best friend. Midnight weighs about 55 pounds. She is about a year old and is a McNab mix or Border Collie mix. Midnight is smart. She quickly learned sit, down, no, and bed. She is currently perfecting stay. She is also quickly learning about the leash. She loves Saks and would adore jogging or hiking. She pulls a bit so is getting used to the halti or gentle leader. She's excellent in the car, loves it and likes to have her head out the window. She has gone camping and is good on a long drive. She is a talker so she will let you know ... (Read More)when she needs to pee. Midnight also loves to fetch. She is athletic. She also loves water. She loves to use her smarts and athleticism together and would be a fantastic agility competitor. Midnight is nervous with kids. She wants to walk away from them. So, an adult home is more her style. Midnight hasn't shown any interest in cats when on a walk, so may be fine living with a dog savvy cat. She lives in a home with other dogs and is fine. There has been a scuffle over s shred toy and bone, so just as is normal with most dogs, it's best to keep items that cause jealousy put away. She and the female dog she lives with are both bossy, so a quiet male dog would be a great pal for Midnight. What makes her extra special is her personality, she is such a love bug, she loves to snuggle, give kisses, and wake everyone up in the morning. Once she gets to know you she is very loyal. So, while she is shy meeting folks at first, once she connects, she is the best dog ever. Midnight is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is ready to meet potential adopters within a 4 hour drive of Taft. A home visit and vet reference are required. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Indy is a very active boy. He is about three-years-old and is loyal, intelligent, attentive and treat-motivated. He goes for daily walks and runs in Redwood City and loves to go exploring with his owners. Indy prefers to stay inside with minimal stimulations while his owners are at work and school. He is very well house-trained, doesn't chew on items he shouldn't chew on and sleeps most of the day provided that he has a soft bed to lie on. He will also hang out in his crate with the door open/closed during the day or for nap time. He sleeps quietly through the night. Indy is good on a leash, responsive to recall and knows basic commands ... (Read More)including 'Go to bed'. Daniel adopted Indy from a shelter in Twin Falls, Idaho when Indy was about 6 months old. He was rescued running the streets of Twin Falls and most likely had poor initial socialization before he was found. Indy received four behavior training sessions in December 2015 and a behavior evaluation at UC Davis three weeks ago. He is fearful and can be aggressively protective at times. I can provide all evaluations and training materials. Indy is a herding breed or guardian breed mix and would do best in a home that has experience with these types of breeds and that understands the exercise, training, and socialization that these dogs require. He is extremely interested in cats/rabbits/squirrels and would do best in a one animal house. A quieter home with one or two people would be ideal for Indy, as he can be nervous around new people at first but once he warms up to you he will love you forever. Indy is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has had a recent physical exam. I will provide all veterinary records and vaccine certificates as well as leash, collar, harness, headcollar, kennel, dog bowls, food storage container, assorted toys and a familiar bed. I also have 6 months of flea medication and heartworm medication and 2-3 week's worth of food. Indy is looking for his own safe haven to call his forever home. He also lives for cuddles on the couch! He is a fantastic companion. For more information, please email Daniel at sheeter@gmail.com Indy is living in Redwood City. (Less)

Meet Fonzy Bear! This friendly guy is a darling mutt who is most likely a Great Dane/Border Collie cross but...your guess is as good as ours! We are ideally looking to place this giant goofball in a rural area so he has tons of space to run and play. He tends to get overexcited when meeting new dogs-that paired with his size makes him not quite built for dog-park life. That being said, he loves other dogs and with a proper introduction, he does totally fine with most dogs! He loves to romp, play and go on hikes with his doggy pack but ultimately we envision this guy on a large plot of land with a doggy best friend to explore and play ... (Read More)with. He loves people and is all wiggle and cuddles but definitely bonds closely with his humans. When new people enter the home, he does alert but is quick to warm up. He is a smart dog who is food motivated and loves to learn! His current foster mom reports that he is as an easy-going dog in the house and has good manners. He is great at play fetch, has basic commands, is fully house trained and has no issues being left for hours at a time. He is good with children but due to his size/strength, we are looking to place him in a family with kids 12 and older. If you're looking to add a country bumpkin to your home who has a million dollar smile, is addicted to belly rubs and has goof-ball personality, Bear is your boy! He is an awesome copilot and fun to have around. His foster mom said she would keep him in a second if she could! Border Collie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Joey, a neutered 6 year old male Border Collie. He is a perfect size at 30 pounds: he is big enough for an active lifestyle but small enough to fit comfortably in the car. Joey is a great balance of energy and calm. He is always ready to go, whether it is for a car ride, hike, jog, or running alongside the bicycle. However, in the house, he makes up his own games with squeaky toys and generally entertains himself appropriately. Joey also enjoys the dog park where he likes to herd the smaller dogs, though not in an aggressive manner. He just wants to have them all in one large group. This is the softest Border Collie we have ever felt. ... (Read More)He is very cuddly and is thrilled to be invited to sit in a lap when the recliner is in use. Joey would also love to sleep in the bed with his people, though he isn't allowed to do that here. Joey is a smart guy, as per a typical Border Collie. He knows sit, down, stay, get out of the kitchen, get on your blanket, go, roll over, and will even jump in your arms by request once he gets to know you. He is ready to learn more and thrives on interaction. Joey gets along with other dogs. He has lived with small dogs as well as a medium-sized male Australian Cattle Dog. As long as the other dog isn't going to cause trouble, Joey seems content to also not cause trouble. He is generally happy to meet new people. He does need a person who will ensure proper introductions each time as he can be nippy once in a while when meeting someone new. This may be caused by sudden movements. In his early life, he was abused and it may be that he remembers this from time to time. He is a happy-go-lucky boy now and just appreciates a proper greeting when meeting someone new. Joey is crate trained, house trained, and knows how to use the dog door. He is current on his vaccinations and is ready for the right home. A home visit and a vet reference are required. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
