Border Collie    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rain is a 1 yr., spayed, beautiful Border Collie. She is absolutely the sweetest little girl. And obviously stunning by the way. She flew in today with Derek of Pilots n Paws. And got a ride here from the airport by car. She does great in all these situations. Not to mention meeting 8 new dog faces. Rain is already making herself at home, using the dog door to come inside, and the self feeders. I have no idea how she wound up in the Ukiah Animal Shelter, in Mendocino county. Just another example of a pure bred dog, probably bought from a breeder, left by the way side. Rain has no worries now. she will get an excellent home (Maybe yours?) ... (Read More)or she will stay in this excellent home! We love you Rain. Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Backstory: Happy and his life long companion, a Beagle, both seniors were dumped at a shelter in LA county by their owners. A rescue came and took the Beagle, leaving Happy behind. We were told of this story and rescued him. Happy has been in foster care for 3 months and he still has moments where he looks very sad, still missing his best friend. Happy is great with humans and other dogs. he is NOT good with cats or small farm animals. Happy is a very affectionate and loving boy............unless you tell him to do something. He was apparently the alpha in his last home and took orders from nobody. His current foster has made ... (Read More)progress with him but feels somebody more assertive would be the best thing for him. We do have a trainer avaiable by phone to help with this issue, which is very fixable with a confident human alpha. When we first got Happy, he was so filthy and matted that he had to be shaved down but his coat has since grown out beautifully. He is a senior boy that deserves a warm bed and a loving home to spend his golden years. If you are interested in this boy, please fill out our adoption application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoptionapplication.php Happy's adoption fee is 150 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts. At GEORGE STORE in BERKELEY. 1824 Fourth Street, in the parking lot area. *Foster update* 4/10/16 'Danny is great with other dogs big and small, he is very playful. He is great in the home, potty trained and seems to only chew on the dog toys. Danny is very smart and learns commands quickly. He will need continued training but has the basics down now. Danny would prefer an adult only home with another dog or two. He has shown some herding behaviors so though he can be very sweet with children it may be too much to have them running around.' Oh Danny Boy! What a cutie - an active, outgoing, waggy ... (Read More)fellow ready for more activities, learning, stimulation, socialization and FUN!! He was a stray in Merced taken in by a lovely elderly couple who found that he needed more than they could provide though they took great care of him!     Lois (black & white) and Clark (brown) are best friends and have been through a lot together. They are a bonded pair and together they could make your family complete. They were reunited after having a week apart. And when they saw each other they hugged and kiss. We could clearly see how much they loved each other. Lois is around 2 years old and about 50 pounds. She is the best kind of dog, a mystery mix! (Collie, Shepherd, Pit?) She is very sweet and loving, good with dogs and people. Not a barker. She is well on her way to being 100% house trained. In a pinch, she has used the pee pads. Not bad for a girl who hasn't had a ... (Read More)place to call home. Clark is a 2 year old pit mix. He is also very sweet and loving but is shy at first. Animal ID: D120340Baby Huck (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Huck and his brother Tom came to us from a shelter where they were brought in as strays. Around seven months old, it is obvious they have been together for a long time. These boys are definitely Border Collies/and or German Shepherd in personality and intelligence. They crave the human touch and just being near you. We feel there could also be some black lab in them. We feel they will be somewhere around 60 pounds when full grown, more or less. Not knowing anything about a crate when they got to their foster home, they now crate on command without a peep for the night. Leash training is going very well though it is clear they ... (Read More)didn't know what that was either. They want only to please and, with their smarts, learn very very quickly. They live in a foster home with a 10-month-old and are amazing with him (though they need to be reminded the baby is not a littermate and doesn't play the same way). We are looking for homes where their new humans have experience with Border Collies or herding breeds. It would be helpful if you could include your experience if/when you apply to be an adopter for either of these boys. You can find the information you need to know and the link for the online application on the Adoption Process page of our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org. Or, read on... All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records. Loves to play fetch with ball or stick. Best home would be an adult family with no other dogs or cats.

MEET SPOTTY from the Philippine Islands --- ADOPTION PENDING --- SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ONLY --- ADOPTIONS@WAGGINGDOG.ORG --- Meet our third import from the Philippine Islands! Our sweet Aspin, Spotty, arrived in SoCal this spring and she really hit the States running!! She quickly settled into the life of a Cali girl and has been enjoying all the new experiences here (like playing on grass!). Spotty hails from the streets of Manila where she had a tough time on her own. We don't know what happened to her there but she was injured and unable to walk when her Philippine rescuers found her. They did an amazing job getting her health back on track ... (Read More)as you can see from her early photos. We have continued her rehabilitation in one of our awesome foster homes, and Spots is stronger and healthier than ever! Her back end has a mind of its own, possibly due to an old spinal injury, but Spotty is handicapable and doesn't notice or care. She has a wonky gait and might stumble every once in a while but she's right back up again and on to bigger and better things. She's thrived with good nutrition and supplements, and after a couple months of hydrotherapy she appears to be even stronger. Our 26 pound girlie is around 3 or 4 years old. She was quite timid when she first arrived but has learned that people can be nice - and we have food :) Yep, Spots is a huge fan of food. Lol. She also loves all other dogs, cats and critters and a nice, friendly dog or two in her forever home is a must. A quiet environment will suit her best, and we'd really like her to have a backyard to enjoy. Because stairs are difficult for Spotty to manage, a single story home is necessary. Loving, patient parents will complete the package for our Filipina orphan, folks who understand her special needs and appreciate her amazing spirit and will to live. Does that sound like you? Then don't wait, let's meet! --- FOR MORE PHOTOS AND PUPDATES ON SPOTTY PLEASE VISIT HER ON FACEBOOK AT: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.974679909223177.1073741937.294289027262272&type=3 --- UPDATE 03/01/16: Spotty has an adoption pending and is now in a Foster-To-Adopt (FTA) period with a potential adopter. During this period, the adopter and dog have a chance to try each other out and make sure this is a perfect match. If things don't work out, the dog will return to the rescue and be able to meet with other adopters. Otherwise, the adopter can finalize the adoption at the end of the FTA period or any time during, at which time our dog listing will be removed. Meanwhile, we are still accepting applications and encourage you to contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in giving this dog a loving home. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed

I'm a medium sized (~50lbs) Border Collie mix from sunny San Jose, CA. I'm your best friend indoors and have enough energy and love to go around. I love to cuddle up! I love to play ball, although my favorite part of that game is 'keep-away!' I am micro-chipped and up-to-date on all my shots. I am very obedient and housebroken, though when I get too excited or anxious I may lose focus, have an accident, or look for something to chew. I'm a smarty pants and know a handful of commands and would love to learn more! I am trained to use the potty in a set tanbark area of my yard! I must admit, however, that I do have anxiety and fear issues ... (Read More)that cause me a lot of trouble on walks, or when meeting new people. I make a great guard dog and will alert our family of noises and people coming to the door but also bark sometimes when I am nervous. I will quiet down once you are with me to calm me down, and my neighbors never complain. I am quiet at night and sleep well unless I hear a scary noise. I am fearful of dogs on leash but I get along great with the dog that I currently live with, so I may be a good fit for family with another dog that can match my love of rough and tumble play as well as cuddling up together for a good nap. I may bark at children on leash but I love the toddler that I currently live with and love giving kisses to kids I meet. I may be a good fit for a family with a child over 7 years old that won't get knocked over by my exited hugs and wrestles! And hey, a big fenced backyard certainly doesn't hurt! With the right attention, consistent structure, and regular exercise I will be your best friend and perfect companion.*courtesy post* (Less)

Tom Brown, young, about 1 1/2 year old Border Collie mix. High energy, and would make an amazing running partner. We think he would make an excellent agility dog, offering you blue-ribbons, and tons of fun. He loves to play with any dog, and people. He is loving and small in size. He is a pretty dog with a striking red and white coat. He originally was rescued from California's farm belt, and is truly a doll. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
