Meet Johnny Cash! This 4 month old Border Collie mix was living in squalor on the streets of Rural Tijuana along with his siblings. We were notified of them and quickly arranged to rescue them.     A picture will be coming, but she is getting over kennel cough so won't be available until after the holiday. She is shy, probably was not loved or cuddled at all. She tucks her tail, but wags it..she wants to trust! She likes the other dogs and eats well. She weighs about 35 lbs now and is about 7-8 months. She needs a clam home who have rescued before. She may be mixed, we don't know. If so maybe with smooth collie.

Mild mannered, 5 year old Kent, Screams McNab, Border Collie with a docked tail. Kent came into the Kings County shelter with an odd injury, like a makeshift drain was placed throughout a hind leg. He's been fully vetted, healed & healthy but the story is incredible. Worked on daily by shelter staff to heal that awful wound, Kent would lay there and take whatever they did, without anesthesia, sucked it up, allowed whatever needed doing, to be done. This guy is awesome. Calm, absolutely fantastic with other dogs, loves people. He's a total ball dog and you'd think he was a pup! He smiles, he is so happy! Kent is the perfect age! Loving the ... (Read More)more mature dogs, give me a break! Please! Kent still has lots of energy, but he knows better! Thank you Kent! He is amazing on a leash, no pull! He's totally exuberant, but when he was being walked by a woman with a cane, he always stopped short of a taught leash, it was incredible to watch. He knows, there should always be a little slack in the leash. And of course he's fabulous off leash. Photos are touchy with a mostly black dog, he wears a tuxedo. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-20-00513Angus (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Angus and his brother, Elijah are the most adorable 9 month old littermates who are probably a mix of Cattle Dog and Border Collie. Angus also seems to have a fair amount of hound qualities. They pups are very devoted to each other, but also fight like brothers do. As littermates (google 'littermate syndrome') training has been slow but they do relatively well with simple commands such as sit, stay and come. Angus is the more mellow of the two brothers. While Elijah is busy guarding the roost, Angus will lounge around until rustled out of bed. The only thing that will get his attention VERY quickly is food. He is the true definition ... (Read More)of a 'chow hound'. Angus experiences his world with his nose, so we hope to find him a loving family/owner/trainer who can provide both more training and lots of room to roam and smell. He needs a fair amount of exercise, so ideally you will have a large yard for him to run & explore, and time each day to go on an off-leash hike or to the beach. He loves playing with other dogs and is very social. We are not sure he would do very well in an apartment left alone all day. Angus would be great sniffing for gophers or rodents but we doubt he would do very well as a guard dog-- he is too mellow for that. Once he gets to know his peeps, he is very cuddly and loving. If he weren't nearly 60 pounds, he would love to be a lap dog. If separated, Elijah and Angus are going to miss each other a lot, but keeping them together will require a very strong 'pack' leader willing to put the time and energy into training each of them independently so that each pup can reach his full potential. They have quite different skills and temperments that need to be encouraged. We cannot keep our beautiful puppies because I have an elderly mother moving in with us and, at over 50 pounds each, they could easily knock her over in their exuberance. So, please consider making one or both of our wonderful pups part of your family. If interested, please contact Jeanine @ 925-200-3857 (Less)

As littermates (google 'littermate syndrome') training has been slow but they do relatively well with simple commands such as sit, stay and come. Ideally, you will have a large yard for him to run & explore, and time each day to go on an off-leash hike or to the beach. We are not sure he would do very well in an apartment left alone all day.     Zany Zorro - Adorable Pomeranian/Border Collie Mix For Adoption in Orange County If you have been searching for that perfect, medium sized dog to add love, laughter, joy and companionship to your home and family, Zorro is waiting to meet you! This super sweet Pomeranian/Border Collie mix is just 6 years old, very healthy, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. Zorro is being rehomed by his owners. They love him dearly, but have their hands more than full with the arrival of twin baby boys. Zorro lives to play, go for long walks, snuggle and be the center of their universe, and they just can't give him the time and attention he very ... (Read More)much needs and deserves. While it breaks their hearts to do so, these very caring owners are looking for the perfect family to offer Zorro a loving, forever home - and give this little sweetie the attention they cannot. They hope to stay in touch with Zorro, and offer their sincere gratitude and friendship to whomever takes him into their hearts and home. Zorro will bring with him his belongings, which include a custom-painted dog food bowl, collar, large dog crate with pillow/bed, and his favorite toys. The perfect home for Zorro will be where he can be an only pet. He loves children, however they should be old enough to know better than to poke, pull and pinch dogs. He can be a bit aggressive towards other dogs when on a walk, so needs someone with a firm hand where walks are concerned. He's perfectly house trained, very well behaved, and a perennial ray of sunshine! Please consider offering Zorro a loving forever home today! You can apply to adopt Zorro by filling out our online adoption form here: http://petprosservices.com/adopt/. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Mark toll free at 888-9-PETS4U. There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. Breed of Pet: Border Collie/Pomeranian Mix Health Problems: No Up To Date on Vaccinations: Yes Gets along with cats: Unknown Accessories Included: He has a custom-painted dog food bowl, collar, large dog crate with pillow/bed, and his favorite toys. Zorro's Personality Zorro is a smiley, cuddley, playful dog. His favorite things are going on long jogs, playing catch, and getting lots of love and attention. He's anxious around loud noises, but is great with kids. He has lots of energy, and likes to be outdoors. Zorro's Current Home Environment We have a good sized yard in home among a quiet suburban neighborhood where everyone owns a dog. There are many trails and parks nearby. It is a very children-friendly town. Zorro's Current Family: We are a family of four, with two boys under the age of 1! We have two dogs, Bella and Zorro. Zorro's Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities? Zorro loves all types of toys, especially if they squeak. He loves to eat chicken and cheese, but has a hard time with his own dog food. He loves to play, and will play catch all day if he could. He is a good jumper and can catch a ball high in the air. He also loves to just run, and has a lot of energy. His other favorite activity is just to sit or lie next to you and cuddle. He loves cuddle time! Cute Zorro Story: When our son Noah, at 6-7 months old, would sit in his chair (which was close the ground), Zorro would love to sit at Noah's feet so he would get pets, and both would love to just sit there and be together. Why is Zorro Being Rehomed? Since we now have two children under the age of 1, we no longer have the time or energy to give Zorro the attention, and walks he needs. Zorro can get a bit aggressive towards other dogs while on a walk, and thus needs consistent training and attention. Our time and energy are now focused on our children, and we cannot afford dog walkers, daycares, and/or dog trainers who could help. Zorro's Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be: We are looking for a family/home that has the time to take Zorro for long walks and gives him plenty of play time and attention. Preferably a home without dogs or other pets. He is great with kids as long as the kids do not tug or hurt him. He would work very well with a family/home that have previous dog experience and/or dog training experience. (Less)

He is a predominantly outside dog who sleeps in a crate inside at night. He does not like the indoors. He feels confined I think. He knows our front and back yard by ... (Read More)smell and will play outside all day and night with his toys. He does not like the rain. Colby Likes younger Female dogs but will confront an dog who is near his ball or barbell. He gets very happy when he smells the cats nearby. He really enjoys quality time with the kids too. He may run into them occasionally but he does settle. This post is not urgent but is time sensitive. I will not let CJ go to anyone. Experience REQUIRED with Aussies and Special needs dogs. (Less)

We have shared great moments with Moe over the past 4.5 years but unfortunately we need to part ways :-( Moe is a border collie and as such has a tendency to herd other animals and people. Thus we cannot let our children play outside due to him trying to nip at them. It breaks my heart but he needs a good home to go to with lots of space to run and play. Preferably a house with NO CHILDREN since he can be unpredictable around them. Couple of things about Moe: ~ Moe is up to date on all shots/vaccinations ~Incredibly smart dog that knows his basic commands and more. ~Potty trained ~ Loves cuddling

Kara is an amazing girl and wants to tell you her story directly. Hi I am still young and am so glad that I am in a foster home finally after being in that scary shelter I finally feel safe and loved. My foster mom says I am a very good dog and she likes having me at her house. She tells me all the time how smart I am so I guess I am. My foster mom takes me outside and we learn commands when she has time. So I now know how to walk next to her on the leash. This week I also learned to sit when she points down, stay when she raises her hand, come when I am called and I am learning down. I love that I get treats when I do what I am asked to do. ... (Read More)When I see myself in the window I see a pretty black girl with tall stand up ears and a little brown mixed in on my feet and ears. I used to sleep in the crate at night but because I have been super good I now sleep at the foot of my foster moms bed but I like to sneak up and sleep with her after she falls asleep. I spend time outside for a few hours during the day and I play with my other foster siblings then I spend a few hours sleeping in my crate. My favorite time of day is when my foster mom comes home and I can greet her with hugs. My second favorite time is when we go for a walk I love to go out and see the world. The only thing my Foster mom says I still need to work on is my manners around food when the other dogs come by. If you are interested in me I hope you will continue to keep me busy because as a Shepherd/Border Collie I like to work and keep learning, I am also very loyal to my family. I would like to go on hikes and maybe go to the beach to play in the sand. I like other dogs but I don't like mean ones. I can be an only dog or if you have a playful non dominant dog I'd like that too. I want to find a family who will keep me forever this time and make me a part of the family. I am really a nice girl....I promise. Kara is right in how she tells her story. She is a love to have as a foster and will make an amazing dog for her new family. She is up to date on shots and is altered. Internal notes (Less)

She adores people, loves attention, and has a lot of love to give. She is playful (but not hyperactive) and is very calm if walked and played with regularly. Although Chloe LOVES babies and has always been great with our three small children, she gets nervous around hyper kids (boys in particular), so she is best suited for someone who doesn't have children in the home. She is a hound mix so she does 'talk' when she gets really excited but she doesn't bark often. She has lived in apartments in the city as well as homes with backyards and does great in both. She is fully potty trained and-since puppyhood-has never had an accident in the ... (Read More)house. She loves people-whenever we have visitors she is polite and welcomes everyone in our home. She doesn't chew on anything (other than her own toys) and doesn't dig or destroy our yard at all. She likes to play with most other dogs, but she really loves people more than other pets. Chloe is spayed and is current on all of her shots. She is a shorthaired dog so she requires very minimal grooming-no shearing or haircuts, just baths and nail trimming as needed. When Chloe was a puppy she had to have surgery on her knee from an injury-as she's gotten older she has developed arthritis in that one knee. We currently give her an inexpensive powder vitamin supplement once a day on her food as well as vet-prescribed glucosamine, which is about $60 for a 5-month-supply. This has managed her arthritis very well-she is able to walk and play regularly. Other than that, she hasn't had any health issues and she has maintained a very healthy weight of 60lbs her entire adult life. We are really hoping to find someone without children who has the time and energy to walk or play with Chloe regularly. (Less)

My name is Boo. On June 5th a Cat Rescue Lady saved my life. I was left tied to a fence for a long time in the hot sun. I was scared out of my wits by the time night came, because I can't hear. I thought I was going to die. The Cat Lady sat with me for hours and hours. Finally she just took my leash and we walked a long way which helped. Still I didn't let her touch me for 3 days. It's been almost a month now and I am a different dog. Everyone says they are amazed at my progress.. She can't keep me because she saves cats but she thought I needed saving too! So we're looking for a 'Forever Home' for me. The Cat Lady says I'm unbelievably ... (Read More)smart and getting over the abuse I suffered faster than anyone imagined. She says I'm so smart I can learn doggy sign language. I'm partially deaf but she says that's ok and I do hear certain sounds. The cat lady says I was probably exposed to really loud machinery when I was young. She says I am totally worth it. I let her rub my belly and even give me kisses. Three days ago I tried giving kisses back. I love walks and snuggles now and I like to play ball. I even drop the ball in the Cat Lady's hand so she can throw it. She says 'I'm a natural and very fast'. She thinks I'm about four years old. I weigh 43 pounds and I'm black and silver. The Cat Lady says I might be part Irish Wolfhound part Border Collie and part terrier. I am still very afraid of lots things so I would like a quiet home with someone who stays home a lot and works at home. I like to know where my person is. I'm a little scared when I'm alone but I'm doing way better. I used to cry. Now I wait. I think I need to be an only dog or with a dog that is very very gentle. I'm still really scared of dogs. The same goes for men, I think if there's a man, he needs to be a gentle man. I love women. I'm pretty sure I could be the best companion dog ever if I had someone to love that would love me too and understand that I have had a very rough life. I never had a yard before and I didn't know what grass was. I sure didn't want to step on it. I was beaten with a brush and I am scared of brushes. Someone tortured me with food and never fed me pet food. I am slowly learning that it's ok to eat and that food is good. If you would like a dog like me and have time to help me learn how to be happy I will help you be happy. Please call the Cat Lady and tell her! If you know someone who is just right for me please tell them to call her. Her name is Polly. Her number is 310-399-7788. Love Boo (Less)

Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
