About 1, this young, female, Queensland/ Border Collie mix, otherwise known a a Texas Heeler, came from Monterey County, Animal Control. A found dog no one Came for. She was terrified in the shelter, screaming when she came here, at the slightest touch, so fearful! Not a biter, she could have easily, she let me know how far I could push, collar, leash, walk, then put her in the back yard, she met all the other happy dogs, and she almost instantly changed. Lonnie is very happy and so dog social! It's just a party here all the time! Lonnie is great on a leash, showing her confidence. She greeted me happily after only an hour here. She ... (Read More)now walks right up and paws me for pets. Lonnie is running and frolicking with Boo and the others. She needed a change of scene and people she could trust. An adopter walked in the yard, second day Lonnie was here, and she never knew this was ashy or fearful dog. The transformation was incredible! Lonnie is spayed, current on vaccinations, and miro-chipped. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Remi is an awesome Border Collie Mix dog I rescued from the shelter 10/2015. He is sweet and smart. Likes to be outside and do fun activities or just run around and play with another dog, but inside he just likes to relax, get cozy, and chew his bone. He is great at sit, stay, lay down, and come. He was known to have some slight separation anxiety from the shelters perspective, but adjusted very quickly staying with another dog in the house or back yard with no problems. He still barks when left alone, though he is good for short periods of time. IE: leaving him inside while doing things around the house or yard. He would do best with a ... (Read More)family that has another dog, a human at home, or can bring him to doggy day care during times when no one is home while working on his separation issue. He gets along great with cats, but if another dog starts to chase them he will follow, but listens well to stop. I have not had him around young children, but he gets along and likes all humans I have had him around. Looking for a forever home for him, he definitely is ready and deserves it. Please contact me to meet this awesome loyal guy!! (Less)

LOOKING FOR A GREAT HOME FOR LOUIE This little guy who we named Louie was found on Mt. Olympus Drive (Laurel Canyon) at 1am on December 12, 2015 and was approximately 4 months old. Though a little bit shy until he gets to know you, he is super sweet, fun to play with and a real ball of energy. He is smart, clever and a bundle of love. He would thrive in a home with another dog or dogs and a yard to play in. He also needs humans who will give him a lot of love and attention. He's a very cool dog and ... She quickly settled into the life of a Cali girl and has been enjoying all the new experiences here (like playing on grass!). Spotty hails from the streets of Manila where she had a tough time on her own. We don't know what happened to her there but she was injured and unable to walk when her Philippine rescuers found her. They did an amazing job getting her health back on track as you ... (Read More)can see from her early photos. We have continued her rehabilitation in one of our awesome foster homes, and Spots is stronger and healthier than ever! Her back end has a mind of its own, possibly due to an old spinal injury, but Spotty is handicapable and doesn't notice or care. She has a wonky gait and might stumble every once in a while but she's right back up again and on to bigger and better things. She's thrived with good nutrition and supplements, and after a couple months of hydrotherapy she appears to be even stronger. Our 26 pound girlie is around 3 or 4 years old. She was quite timid when she first arrived but has learned that people can be nice - and we have food :) Yep, Spots is a huge fan of food. Lol. She also loves all other dogs, cats and critters and a nice, friendly dog or two in her forever home is a must. A quiet environment will suit her best, and we'd really like her to have a backyard to enjoy. Because stairs are difficult for Spotty to manage, a single story home is necessary. Loving, patient parents will complete the package for our Filipina orphan, folks who understand her special needs and appreciate her amazing spirit and will to live. Does that sound like you? Then don't wait, let's meet! --- FOR MORE PHOTOS AND PUPDATES ON SPOTTY PLEASE VISIT HER ON FACEBOOK AT: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.974679909223177.1073741937.294289027262272&type=3 (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Fozzy Bear. Fozzy came in to the Lancaster shelter as an owner surrender due to finances. A kennel attendant took it upon herself to work with Fozzy in order to help him get out of there. Her supervisor approached us to help this beautiful guy out. How could we refuse? Shelter identified him as an Akita mix. Well, maybe more of a Border Collie mix although Fozzy does have dog issues and seems to have a prey drive like an Akita. He is very trainable and loves people but will need help in adjusting to other dogs. Typical of Border Collies, he loves to jump. He needs a secure roofed kennel or constant supervision. Fozzy has the potential ... (Read More)to be a super dog but right now he is ruff around the edges. We're working with him on obedience and socialization. He is a really neat dog. He is in foster care in Palmdale CA. If you are interested in Fozzy, please email apassionforpaws@gmail.com or TEXT his foster Mom at 818-219-7736. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-13-00695Tom Brown (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tom Brown, young, about 1 1/2 year old Border Collie mix. High energy, and would make an amazing running partner. He is great with kids, super fun at the beach, camping, would be wonderful for anyone that wants to have a fun type of dog! He is loving and completely dog friendly. We think he would make an excellent agility dog, offering you blue-ribbons, and tons of fun. He loves to play with any dog, and people. He is loving and small in size. He is a pretty dog with a striking red and white coat. He originally was rescued from California's farm belt, and is truly a doll. He was not dumped at the shelter, but found as a stray, and no one ... (Read More)came to claim him probably due to shelter costs. Tom is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and ready for his forever loving home. Please fill out an application, and tell us why you're the perfect home for Tom Brown, and make an appointment to come meet this fun boy! We get many inquiries, so its best to fill out an application if you are actively ready to adopt. You will then have your application reviewed and receive a call to make an appointment. Please go to www.LindaBlairWorldheart.org and fill out an application. Listed under adoptable dogs! We stand behind our dogs 100% Southern Ca adoption only due to home checks. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
