BEAUTIFUL AND PLAYFUL! These two stunning girls were surrendered to the East Valley Animal Shelter, recently. KRISPY (A1780375) is said to be 6-years-old, and LALA (A1780372) is around 4-years-old. Their kennel cards show them as 'best buddies,' Bonded pair and hoping they will be adopted together. but perhaps they're mom and daughter; they are kenneled together. KRISPY has been somewhat reserved since entering the shelter, but she is becoming more engaging; LALA is playful and affectionate. They need out of the shelter, which is located at 14409 Vanowen St., Van Nuys, CA

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tally and Quinn are 5 year old sisters and in need of a new home. A mix of Queensland Heeler and Hanging Tree Cow Dogs. The latter come in so many variations of colors and body types, are a combination of cattle dog and Border Collie. Google some images. Hard to tell the diff. Ideal for herding dog lovers who want a turn key family. No behavior issues, they are mature, no destructive habits, no nipping. And in excellent health. Current on all shots and flea treatment. We have all paperwork for all vet care and shots. Of course, spayed and micro chipped. We've had since puppies. Dad was red heeler, mother was the cow dog (Google images.) ... (Read More)looked much like a Border Collie. The girls have traits of both breeds. Raised together, and well adjusted. Not high energy, timid, anxious or needy. Very people friendly, great with kids and have good manners. They love the trampoline! And run next to a bike. Easy way to exercise too. Leash and halter trained, they know basic commands. Trained to alert of strangers, or if something is in the chicken or rabbit pens, like skunks, possum, rats or feral cats. Otherwise, very quiet girls. They patrol our property during the day to keep people away from the back fence in the agricultural fields. They've always slept inside the porch at night. They are free in the 1 acre yard all day. And boarded if we have travel plans which don't include them. They love being in the house for family time for pets and love and just hang out. Never allowed on furniture or beds. Great on car rides. They love squeaky toys. Quinn will chase a ball. Tally swims in the local pond. Lots of fun on camping and beach trips. They've been to obedience classes and have good recall. Both are food driven and 'will work for treats'. Raised around goats, pigs, chickens, an indoor/outdoor cat. And have been around other dogs. They've been allowed to chase squirrels and rats, and recently thought the neighbor's little Yorkie terrier, was one of those. The small dog was bitten in neutral territory. For this reason, we are seeking to re-home the girls. Our family dynamic changed, 1 child gone to college, the other school and working. So I am no longer a stay-at-home Mom. we cannot give the dogs the attention they need. A small re-homing fee to ensure good adopters, includes their beds, bowls, halters and leashes.     Meet Max. He is a 1.5 years old Border Collie/Cattledog mix. He weighs about 40 pounds. Max is crate trained and runs right in on command. He is a smart boy and ready to learn the basics. Max loves to fetch. He also likes to play with toys. He will be a fun dog for someone who knows how to keep a puppy busy so they don't chew on things if bored and left alone for long. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

This cuddly, pretty girl is Sunshine. She is a Texas Heeler mix, so is likely Border Collie/Cattledog. She is about a year and a half old and weighs about 43 pounds. Sunshine is a sweet and loving girl. She is also still a pup. She is learning quickly. She is already crate trained. She also wants to play and is interested in learning about fetch. She also needs a home who keeps her busy so she doesn't revert to chewing on things. She is also really happy to see people. She is friendly with men, women, and kids. She is likely better with kids who are past the toddler stage just because she sometimes jumps on people and could knock over a ... (Read More)toddler out of love and happiness. Sunshine needs a home who will manage her puppy behavior, give her training, and keep her active. She also needs a home that will brush her regularly to keep her soft coat from matting. She will reward that person with lots of love. Sunshine warms up faster to women than men, but does warm up just fine to men. She recently met her foster's father and, since he took it slow, she became his friend. Sunshine is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. We do not ship our dogs. She is available for a meeting and adoption in SoCal. A home visit and vet reference are required.     Charlie is a McNab, which is a breed native to California, but yet to be acknowledged by the AKC. McNabs are bred to herd livestock in a dry, warm climate. We do not know if Charlie has ever herded, but he displays similar energy and personality to that of a herding dog. He is in great shape and loves to play fetch. He loves being in a pack too, and gets along really well with our Rottweilers and English Mastiff. Charlie loves human companionship, and would do best having a big property to explore. Ideally he would love to be in a ranch style environment.

Cash came from California City when he was approximately 3 weeks old. Raising a pup that was too young to be away from his mom has been trying, but we've made it through and now he's ready for adoption! Cash is a Cattle dog/ Border Collie/ Australian Shepherd according to his wisdom panel results. He is extremely high energy as most herding dogs are but I expect he'll mellow out a bit around 3 years old. While he is good with children ages 8 and above are advised due to his energy level. (Read More)owners are away from their small apartment for 8-10 hours per day and hope they can find a new, more stimulating home for Indy that has room for him to be active. Daniel adopted Indy from a shelter in Twin Falls, Idaho when Indy was about 6 months old (summer 2014). He was rescued running the streets of Twin Falls and most likely had poor initial socialization before he was found. He is fearful of strangers and can be aggressively protective at times. Indy is a herding breed or guardian breed mix and would do best in a home that has experience with these types of breeds and that understands the exercise, training, and socialization that these dogs require. He is extremely interested in cats/rabbits/squirrels and would do best in a one animal house. A quieter home with one or two people would be ideal for Indy, as he can be nervous around new people at first but once he warms up to you he will love you forever. Indy is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has had a recent physical exam. Indy's owner will drive to meet you where you are if you're interested in adopting. Indy is looking for his own safe haven to call his forever home. He also lives for cuddles on the couch! He is a fantastic companion. If interested in Indy, please contact Daniel at sheeter@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-30-00546Fonzy Bear (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Meet Fonzy Bear! This friendly guy is a darling mutt who is most likely a Great Dane/Border Collie cross but...your guess is as good as ours! We are ideally looking to place this giant goofball in a rural area so he has tons of space to run and play. He tends to get overexcited when meeting new dogs-that paired with his size makes him not quite built for dog-park life. That being said, he loves other dogs and with a proper introduction, he does totally fine with most dogs! He loves to romp, play and go on hikes with his doggy pack but ultimately we envision this guy on a large plot of land with a doggy best friend to explore and play ... (Read More)with. He loves people and is all wiggle and cuddles but definitely bonds closely with his humans. When new people enter the home, he does alert but is quick to warm up. He is a smart dog who is food motivated and loves to learn! His current foster mom reports that he is as an easy-going dog in the house and has good manners. He is great at play fetch, has basic commands, is fully house trained and has no issues being left for hours at a time. He is good with children but due to his size/strength, we are looking to place him in a family with kids 12 and older. If you're looking to add a country bumpkin to your home who has a million dollar smile, is addicted to belly rubs and has goof-ball personality, Bear is your boy! He is an awesome copilot and fun to have around. His foster mom said she would keep him in a second if she could! He is adoptable through the Milo Foundation in Point Richmond. www.milofoundation.org (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in California
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
