This guy is Dallas, he is a Border Collie, probably 10 months old. He will sit when a treat is present. He does seem to be potty trained. He does have a high energy level, so an active home would be the best fit for Dallas. A home with another canine companion for him to romp and play with is also a plus.

Hi, my name is Tucker and I am 2 year old Border Collie Mix. I came into the shelter as a transfer from Pocatello Animal Shelter. I am very smart and trainable because I have high energy. I would do best on a farm where I can learn to work with cattle. Will you spend time with me and train me? I need a family with kids 10 and older. I would go great as a cow dog. I love to run! Ask all my friends here. Please take me home. If you would like to meet me just talk to one of the counselor and my adoption fee is $136.

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-20-00295Ralph (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Ralph (or 'Ralphie,' as he is affectionately called by his foster dad) is a 5 year old pup who recently transferred to us from an Idaho shelter. He is currently living in a foster home but looking for something more permanent. Foster mom, Barbara, says, 'Ralph has the sweetest personality. He can get very excited and act all puppy like, wanting to be petted, rolling on his back, then he calms down and lays around with the rest of the dogs. Very loving! He generally gets along well with the other dogs but we did have one little growling episode and I don't know if it was my dog or Ralph who was jealous being around me (my dogs hover around me ... (Read More)and follow me every where). He walks very well on leash, looking to me for where to go. He's been sleeping in his kennel but could be left out to sleep on someone's floor or in someone's bed if they wanted. He's pretty well house trained but did have one or two accidents when he first got here. I keep my dogs separated when I feed them so I don't know how he would do if fed around other dogs, but he stood back and waited to receive a biscuit while my ill mannered dogs crowded me. He seems over all really mellow unless he's getting petted and then he gets all excited and demands more petting.' If you're interested in meeting Ralph, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-20-00281Jax (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

One look at his face, and you'll fall in love, too. Jax is a 1.5-3 year old big lug who arrived one week ago from another Idaho shelter. He was surrendered there after his family reported that they couldn't keep him contained. He's been doing great in a foster home, though, and we think he'll make a great addition to any family. Jax's foster mom, Lois, says, 'Jax is a wonderful dog and will be great with kids of any age but I would love to see him go where they are 5+ just because he is big and goofy! He's totally housebroken, he loves to go for rides, walks great on leash with a harness and will play with toys for hours! He has a favorite ... (Read More)pink flying saucer toy that will definitely go to his new home with him! He is good with dogs & initially chased the cat but after the first 2 days all was fine. He is a quick learner and would love to have a family that could spend time working with him and exercising him! Jax is lovable, kind and cuddly and it will be a very fortunate family that adopts this dog!' Jax is now fully vetted and ready for adoption. If you're interested in meeting him, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944 to schedule a time with the foster family. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-31-00238Chip (male)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

A sad lonely world. Day in and day out spent on a chain tied to a dog house. Your whole life consists of about 6 feet in every direction. :( Then someone comes along to help. You find yourself being able to run and play. You roll in the snow. You run after balls. You find out that warm bed, those bright colored toys and all that yummy food is just for you. You also find out that there are people who come to play that are kind and totally crazy about you. I'd say that's a definite life change. Chip is about 4 years old. He is a beautiful red and white Border Collie with twinkly golden eyes and super cute freckles. He loves ... (Read More)life and he loves attention. All this kindness may be a little new to him but he is adjusting very well. He's soaking up all the pampering. :) He even had a spa day. He laid back in the tub like wow, these bubbles are the life. Chip would make a wonderful companion. He would stay right by your side and be loyal for life. He is great with kids. Learning about potty training but he has mastered the doggie door. Chip is neutered, up on all his vaccination, micro chipped and wonderful. Please call Dani 208 241 5538 or Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. (Less)

Animal ID: HANKHANK (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Hank is a Cowdog mix, around 2 years old and weighs 62lbs. He came to us as a stray from Buhl in December, that was never claimed by an owner. The end of January Hank was adopted by a sweet family but unfortunately returned to us the week after. It was clear that Hank didn't want to make friends with the cat in the home, he had other ideas. It is always a risk adopting to a home with kitties when we don't know the dog's prior history with cats or not able to tests dogs with cats since we are only a dog shelter. If it wasn't for Hank not liking cats, he wouldn't have been returned. He bonded very quickly with the wife, he decided that she was ... (Read More)his human. Hank wanted to go and be where ever she went. He was also wonderful with the kids of any age, his best friend was a toddler whom he played fetch with and let hand feed him out of his bowl. Hank is a gentle guy. Another thing we have learned about Hank he needs to be able to touch you during the night, just to see if you are still where you went to bed. So a home that is okay with sharing the bed at night or have a low enough bed where Hank can see you and make sure you didn't leave him! Hank will make a very lovable and loyal family dog! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00460Thelma (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Thelma is the smallest of the two sisters that came in together. When they first came to ANH they were both so scared. Thelma would hide behind her sister and peak around to see what was going on. Now she's as busy and happy as could be. She is just adorable and has a spunky little personality. She can keep up with any of the big dogs at the shelter and usually gets to the ball first. Then away she goes full blast though the snow playing keep away. She loves to stomp on her tennis balls and bury them in the snow. Then she tunnels under to retrieve her prize and off she goes again. Thelma is just 8 months old and she is a very ... (Read More)good puppy. She minds great, sits for treats and even kennels when asked. She is spayed up on all her vaccinations, and micro chipped. Thelma would love an inside home, lots of kids to play with and a life time supply of tennis balls. :) Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or Dani 208 241 5538 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00459Louise (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Louise is one of two sisters who came to the shelter together. They were found running along the highway. They were cold and scared are ready to be rescued. At first they were both very shy but it didn't take long at all to fit right in to the fun routine at ANH. Louise is 8 months old. She has been spayed, is up on vaccinations, and micro chipped. She loves to play ball and loves to play queen of the mountain. She always wants to be first to the top of our big snow piles. She does share her spot on top of the snow with her cute little sister Thelma. Louise minds very well. Takes treats very gently and even comes in when ... (Read More)she's not ready. She has a little sparkle of mischief in her pretty brown eyes and she does love to steal her sisters blankets. Louise would love to be someones little girl. She would like a nice place by the fire and a fun back yard to play in. She would be thrilled if that yard came with kids, she loves to play. :) Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or Dani 208 241 5538 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. (Less)

Animal ID: AEROAERO (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Aero came to us in December, Aero was a owner surrender after being impounded multiple times. He has history of being an escape artist. But if the right home is looking that won't be an issue to resolve and make sure doesn't happen! We were told Aero is a Borgie, the more time we spend with Aero we are starting to think he may have a stockier breed in him like a lab or maybe Pitty. So he could be a Corgidor or Porgie ;) Either way, Aero is a cute low rider weighing 40lbs. Aero is a sweet and friendly guy, loves everyone he meets. He gets along great with other dogs and even cats! A home with another K9 for Aero to romp and play with would be ... (Read More)a bonus. He loves to run and wrestle with Ranger, they make quite the pair! He knows his basic commands and will catch a treat! Even with Aero being a low rider and small children being almost eye level a home with older children would be best. Aero thinks he needs to jump to a closer look and smell! Aero is quite the character and will make someone a great dog! (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed

This is my dad's dog Vita. She is a beagle/border collie mix. She is 8 years old. She is a great dog, really sweet. She would do best in a home with adults and older kids. She knows several commands and a few tricks. She would be best in a home as an only dog. Currently lives with an older female border collie. My dad can no longer take care of her due to his medical situation. Vita Needs a good home and I am prepared to pay a rehome fee for the right home. Please email me for more information. My dad has to find a home for her before September 1, 2016. Thank you! She knows commands.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Idaho
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
