He gets along with other dogs and cats and loves people. 7 years ago he was adopted as a puppy from an animal control in Indiana. Fast forward to 2015 where he was found wandering as a stray and brought back to that same animal control. The original owners were located, but they say they gave Pinkerton away 3 years ago and don't remember to who :( So- we were able take him into our rescue where we will be able to find him a home that will appreciate this happy, well behaved gentleman. ... (Read More)Pinkerton suffers from allergies that will require that he be kept on a strict limited diet. He walks well on a leash and appears to be crate and housetrained. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-09-00169HARLEY (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Introducing Harley - About 8-12 months old, about 50lbs Just like his name, he Lives With Conviction! He is all boy and just like most teens is both mischievous and so sweet and smart you have to love him! He is high energy and needs to be active. He will try and test boundaries, but is very smart! He needs a very active family, and a farm would be ideal. He spent most of his early life outdoors and is learning his inside manners. We believe he may be part Border Collie. He likes to work and has figured out how to climb a four foot chain link fence, but chooses not to as long as he is occupied and not left alone. He does enjoy the ... (Read More)outdoors and likes to be King of the Hill, climbing on top of wood piles, patio chairs, etc. He is a very agile boy that would be great as an agility dog! He needs room to run and play and interaction that makes him think. He is VERY close to being housebroken, with only a couple of accidents when he has been too busy playing, but if you remember to take him out, he is great! As mentioned, he is very smart'|he sits, shakes, lays down, and is learning roll over and stay. He learns quickly, and is treat motivated!!! He gets along great with children, he is good with cats, and LOVES other dogs. He has never shown an ounce of aggression, even when another dog is aggressive towards him. And he gives lots and lots of kisses. He likes to rearrange shoes in the house, but never chews them. He is crate trained and goes in when told without a fight and sleeps in his crate all night. He is good on the leash and is learning not to pull. When he wants to go for a walk, he will pull his leash and harness down off the hooks (smart boy). He would do best in a family that has another dog or dogs that like to play to keep him company. Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family in order to approve an adoption. Please email Kathy for an application at safehavendogs@yahoo.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-11-00578Buddy (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy was rescued with his mother and 3 siblings. Mom appears to be Shepherd collie. There was a purebred looking male shepherd on the property we were told was the father. Rocky looks like a longer coated shepherd collie mix. He is very sweet, and very shy with strangers. They came from a terrible situation. All 5 dogs rescued from the location are terrified of children and run and hide. He is very submissive with teens and adults. and would prefer to also hide from them until he knows them. He loves attention from us, is cuddly and happy, but is still learning new people won't hurt him at random. He has learned to walk on a leash fairly ... (Read More)well, is crate trained. About 10 to 11 months old, UTD vaccination, neutered and on heartworm preventative. He is great with a wide range of dogs, submissive to them yet loves to play and even the crabby dogs who don't want to play often learn to play when they are kenneled with him. He has no interest in cats. A home with another happy outgoing dog would be perfect so he can gain more confidence from the other dog. He is one of my favorite dogs as hard as I try not to have favorites. He has a sweet collie personality. A current or past vet you have used for pets number is required for us to call for a reference prior to adoption. We have many other rescued dogs available also to choose from. Contract on adoption. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Illinois
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
