|Animal ID: Ida Mae/Lab CollieIda Mae (female)|
I do have an adoption fee of $250 to cover my vetting and to help save the next pup. I am fully Vetted/Nuetered/Microchipped/Heartworm Neg on preventative and also under flea/tick treatment as well I am looking for my perfect home within 50 miles of Chicago Illinois an application and home visit a requirement I am such a good little doggie!! Cute too!! Our Adoption Process... Adoption Application Meet and Greet Home visit Adoption Contract Adoption fee *** Please be patient, we are a very small organization and we all sadly have to work and have families just like you. We also know the excitement of finding a pet that could be your furever family member and we receive numerous inquiries from other families who feel the same way. Our primary goal is matching the perfect family with our pups and do not practice first come, first serve". We are setting up many meet and greets with our pups and the family could be found prior to you even getting to meet them. We will make sure all potential adopters who inquired are updated if the pup has been adopted. We do not want to waste anyone's time and recommend you keep looking while you wait to hear from us and as always Thank You for adopting and not shopping. *** Adoption applications will be sent via email only, we do not have them posted online anywhere or on a website. Please visit us on our Facebook page for more information and photos of our adoptable pup by using our link Web: www.facebook.com/TheFirstStepRescue ************************************************************************************************ I came in as a stray - With no place to go - I will go to a place - They call my foster home. Please email TheFirstStepRescue@sbcglobal.net with any question or for further information . My name is Ida Mae and I am a 2 1/2 year old female Lab mix. I came into a shelter with a broken back and no one has any idea how it happened either. I didn't have a chance at the shelter so I came to rescue and went to my foster home. With all the love and care, I have completely healed and I require no further treatments. I am a small girl weighing only 35lbs and I am a young girl. I get along great with children but I will be placed in an adult home or with a family with adult children. Sadly with my back I can not have youngsters crawling or climbing on me. I also get along with other dogs but again I would like to be the only furbaby in the home, I can not really rough house with another dog esp my size or larger but maybe if your furbaby is very low keyed and small there may be a possibility. I really should 'not' have a lot of stairs to tackle, no stairs would be ideal but we know many homes have stairs, we will ask the vet to see how many I can handle on a daily basis. I would love to be the tennis ball/frisbee pup but sadly I can not do those things anymore so I will settle for those nice long walks and even stopping to look at the wildlife, almost like I am pointing.. or even trotting around my yard instead, as long as I have a family I will be happy. I am crate trained but I still need to be watched with housebreaking and with a little more time, love and training I will be the diamond I am destined to be. I just love to be loved and love to love back, if you pet me I will be a velcro dog and never leave your side. I am looking for my furever home do you know where it is? |Rescue Me ID: 15-08-08-00599Casey (male)|
Casey is an amazing dog. He was left at a training facility, in which a rescue took him. Casey has been sitting in a kennel for over two years and is currently being sent to another facility in which he will sit in an even smaller kennel. Casey is a very loving dog with the right person. He will play ball all day and night if you let him. He loves to sit next to you and chew on a stick or a rawhide. Casey is extremely smart and responds quickly to corrections, he even knows sit, down, paw, high five and roll over. Casey needs time to learn and trust after the life he has had so far. He will bond with the right person and follow you everywhere, sit next to you, and snuggle up. Casey would do best in a home with no small children or cats. Casey hasn't been around too many dogs, but I am sure with time and patience he will learn to accept another. He truly is an amazing dog, and would be a wonderful companion. Due to him being in a kennel, he has not had much socialization with strangers and does become weary. He is up to date on all vaccines. Casey is an amazing dog, and deserves to feel like that in a wonderful loving home. We can't let him sit in a kennel and not know what love truly feels like. He will not disappoint! (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-08-01-00008Vader (male)|
Meet Vader! He is a sweet, gentle 10 yr old border collie who was given up by his owner/breeder because they were moving and could not bring him with. He loves the company of his people and would like to find a family with someone who is home a lot. He has displayed some separation anxiety when left alone, so his new family will need to agree to work with him. He gets along with other dogs and does great with his housetraining. He is a smart boy and walks nicely on a leash. Vader would love to spend his golden years with a loving family who will spoil and pamper him. Vader's adoption fee of $250 helps cover the cost of his veterinary care. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website at www.perfectpooches.org under the Adoption Process tab. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, heartworm tested (as appropriate), fecal tested, and microchipped. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-07-01-00124Bron (male)|
.Meet Bron! Male Border Collie Mix DOB 6/16/14 Bron came to us from Alabama where he was found abandoned. It may sound odd to say that he was lucky to be sent to a high kill shelter, but he is, because this shelter does everything it can to find rescue for their dogs. We brought him to Illinois and is in a foster home. His foster has this to say about him: Bron is a sweet, gentle dog. He aims to please, but since he is a Border Collie mix, he also has a bit of a stubborn streak! He loves to snuggle and have his belly rubbed. In his foster home, there are no other dogs to play with and he gets bored. He would definitely benefit from another canine companion in his home and a fenced in yard to romp around in. If he is out without another dog or person to play with, he sits by the door waiting to come in (he doesn't like to be out alone). He thrives on taking several walks a day, without them he gets restless and launches into crazy puppy mode. Being one of the herding breeds, he will do best in a home with older children since he has the instinct to herd them. He is fantastic in his crate (though he doesn't like to go in there initially), but he is great once in. He is not a super high energy dog, he sleeps a good part of the day as long as his walk and romp needs are met. He goes to bed at about 7pm and is out for the night (unless there is commotion in the house)! He is learning leash manners and has recently tried a gentle leader that has done wonders! Since he was most likely an outside dog in his past life, his foster family is working on housebreaking as well. His foster says that he is an AWESOME dog that dreams of a fenced yard and another dog to play with! Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter at our participating vets, immunizations/shots up to the point of adoption, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments. Fostering is a rewarding experience for your family. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00554Hobbes (male)|
Adopt Hobbes the Border Collie/Rat Terrier-Mix Hobbes is an extremely sweet, high-energy, cuddly and loving, 29-pound, 22-month-old, male Border Collie/Rat Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. When you first meet adorable little Hobbes, he seems a little nervous. The funny thing is, he really loves everyone, he just needs to build his confidence in a quiet and loving home. He is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone. Sadly, he was found stray in the Englewood neighborhood where children were beating him with sticks. Police officers intervened and brought him to Chicago Animal Care and Control. When his original family neglected to claim him, he was transferred to Rain Dog Rescue. Despite his tragic start in life, Hobbes is a social creature and loves playing with other dogs and getting human affection. He is currently living in foster care with a dog trainer and going to doggie day care twice a week. Hobbes is looking for a loving and active dog-loving home with a canine sibling to play with. Hobbes does well at the dog park - enjoying not only all the dogs, but people too! Hobbes loves going on long walks. He is housebroken, crate-trained and knows the commands sit, stay and down and takes treats gently from your fingers. Hobbes is very healthy, de-wormed, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly heartworm preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits Raindog Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt Hobbes, please fill out an adoption application at http://raindogrescue.org/application/ and follow up by contacting Raindog Rescue at email@example.com or 773-770-5115. |Rescue Me ID: 14-08-11-00578Buddy (male)|
Buddy was rescued with his mother and 3 siblings. Mom appears to be Shepherd collie. There was a purebred looking male shepherd on the property we were told was the father. Rocky looks like a longer coated shepherd collie mix. He is very sweet, and very shy with strangers. They came from a terrible situation. All 5 dogs rescued from the location are terrified of children and run and hide. He is very submissive with teens and adults. and would prefer to also hide from them until he knows them. He loves attention from us, is cuddly and happy, but is still learning new people won't hurt him at random. He has learned to walk on a leash fairly well, is crate trained. About 10 to 11 months old, UTD vaccination, neutered and on heartworm preventative. He is great with a wide range of dogs, submissive to them yet loves to play and even the crabby dogs who don't want to play often learn to play when they are kenneled with him. He has no interest in cats. A home with another happy outgoing dog would be perfect so he can gain more confidence from the other dog. He is one of my favorite dogs as hard as I try not to have favorites. He has a sweet collie personality. A current or past vet you have used for pets number is required for us to call for a reference prior to adoption. We have many other rescued dogs available also to choose from. Contract on adoption. Brighton IL. Transport option may be available. (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Illinois|
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
