Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Harley was dumped on the side of the highway in Alabama with his sister Hailey. Harley is ALL boy. He is sweet and smart but also a rambunctious young pup. He is beginning to learn about walking on a leash and is picking this up fairly quickly. If he feels that the other dogs in his foster family are getting too much attention, or he feels like he needs more attention, he will 'mouth' which means he puts his mouth gently on you to get attention. He is being taught not to do this, but is still working on it. Some breeds of dogs are genetically inclined to use their mouths to do a job, and he is doing just that. Harley is a bit of a climber ... (Read More)and has climbed a 4 foot fence, but has done well in a 6 foot fence. He is naturally very curious in the house moves from room to room checking it out. He has started crate training and learning house manners. Since he is a smart boy, he is catching on quickly. He is great with other dogs and is also good with cats. Harley is available for our Foster to Adopt Program. Fostering-to-adopt is a great way to see if a dog is right for you and your family. If approved, Safe Haven Dog Rescue foster families have the first option to adopt. Fostering is a very rewarding experience! Not to mention that you will be helping us save a pup in need! Standard adoption fee is $295 (cash or check) and includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy was rescued with his mother and 3 siblings. Mom appears to be Shepherd collie. There was a purebred looking male shepherd on the property we were told was the father. Rocky looks like a longer coated shepherd collie mix. He is very sweet, and very shy with strangers. They came from a terrible situation. All 5 dogs rescued from the location are terrified of children and run and hide. He is very submissive with teens and adults. and would prefer to also hide from them until he knows them. About 10 to 11 months old, UTD vaccination, neutered and on heartworm preventative. He is great with a wide range of dogs, submissive to them yet loves to play and even the crabby dogs who don't want to play often learn to play when they are kenneled with him. He has no interest in cats. A home with another happy outgoing dog would be perfect so he can gain more confidence from the other dog. He is one of my favorite dogs as hard as I try not to have favorites. He has a sweet collie personality. A current or past vet you have used for pets number is required for us to call for a reference prior to adoption. We have many other rescued dogs available also to choose from. Contract on adoption. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Illinois
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
