Rescue Me ID: 17-11-13-00312Annie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beautiful, calm, shy, and sweet - that's our dainty Annie! She's a large terrier/Border Collie-looking dog who arrived at ACL with the aid of a family of Good Samaritans. Annie was found running stray after just having been skunked! A Good Samaritan came to hear aid, taking her home and cleaning her off. After a week, no owner was found, so Annie came to ACL to have the opportunity to find a forever home. Annie is a very timid lady without a mean bone in her body - she needs lots of love, head pets, and sweet talk to help grow her confidence. It's likely that Annie hasn't had a lot of positive human interaction in her past, so she's eager to ... (Read More)soak up all the love you have to offer! She'll likely take some time to truly relax and open up, and patience is a must! Annie is working on housetraining, and she's a quiet, well-behaved girl on her leash. She's good with other easygoing dogs who don't get in her face, but she's not looking to be BFFs with another dog. We think she'd adjust well to cats after a slow introduction. She'll do fine with kids as long as they're on the gentle, quiet side. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Meet Disney (aka Dizzy)! Dizzy is about 1-2 yrs old and weighs about 35 lbs. Dizzy came to us from Animal Rescue Corps Operation Mayday 2. He was rescued from a situation where he was living outside on a chain. This poor boy has had a rough start in life and now he is looking for a new beginning. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he is incredibly timid and nervous. He loves other dogs of all sizes and we will require he be placed with another confident, well adjusted dog that can help show Dizzy the ropes. His new family will need to be patient and work on building his confidence. He has been doing well with his housetraining, but ... Rescue Me ID: 17-03-17-00275Sheena (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Sheena is a 15-year-old, very frail and thin, female black and white shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian as a hospice situation. This senior lady was dropped off at Chicago Animal Control with a younger Dachshund sibling. They were separated when a rescue took the Dachshund but not the senior shepherd. Luckily Sheena was taken in by the Famous Fido Rescue. She has proven to be just fine with other dogs as well as cats. Poor Sheena has had two bouts of pancreatitis since she's arrived in rescue. Rescue staff and volunteers have nursed her back from each illness and now she eats mostly boiled chicken and rice, although she also loves ... (Read More)cheese. Her arthritis slows her down. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Illinois
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
