VERY URGENT ON CODE RED EUTH LIST RIGHT NOW SHE NEEDS A COMMITMENT OF ADOPTIVE HOME ASAP! TIME IS ALMOST OUT - PLEASE EMAIL US IMMEDIATELY This gorgeous Smooth Coat Border Collie (McNab) / Pit Bull Mix is on the Code Red Euthanasia list in the high kill Miami Dade Animal Shelter and we are looking to find a loving adoptive home for her. If we get a commitment of an adopter, she can be saved! Then as soon as we get the tiny $70 adoption payment, we will immediately call Miami so a hold can be placed, and she can be taken off the Euthanization list and then hitch a ride on our March 14 transport. If by chance, we are too late, your $70 will be refunded immediately. Below is description. Please contact us ASAP - as time is of the essence! email: email@example.com Lee is a stunning 3 year old female Smooth Coat Border Collie (McNab) / Pit Bull Mix weighing in at only 48lbs. so she is a great medium house dog size, perfect for kids! A McNab is basically a short haired Border Collie and Lee gets her coloring, agility and her smarts from this side of her heritage and her strength and muscular features from her Pittie side. As you can see from her photos, she is just beautiful, but her personality is what makes her shine! She is a very sweet girl but also a very sad girl. She is scared in the huge Miami Dade Animal Shelter and she mopes around with her head hanging low and her tail tucked in between her legs, it's really a sad sight. She is a submissive girl and gets a long great with other dogs. We can't wait to see this beauty bloom when she gets out of the shelter and see her confidence grow. But, sadly, she has a doggie cold in Miami and has been put in the URI section where potential adopters rarely go, so she won't even get to be seen. She is a wonderful, sweet, gentle girl and needs a family to show her what love is, are you that family? $70 adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, de-fleaing & de-worming and heartworm test. We offer a 3 week money back (less $10 + $5 if paid on web) or even trade on another pet (dog for dog / cat for cat). This will give the pet and the adopting family time to get acquainted, for the pet to learn house rules, for scared dogs to feel safe and secure, etc. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-12-06-00011Casey (male)
This is Casey. He is three years old. He is a great looking tri-color Australian Shepherd Mix. He is average height but a little over weight at 76 pounds. He needs a good home and having plenty of exercise will get the few extra pounds off of him. He loves everyone and when he meets new people he will shake hands with them. Casey has lived the majority of his young life in a shelter. His last chance is here at Patriots for Pets. He was transferred to us from a very over crowded shelter and we are confident he will find a forever home. He has been around other animals all of his life but becomes protective of humans when other dogs approach without warning. He has been neutered and all of his shots are current. He will not be adopted into a home with young children. He does not like it when they grab at him and he especially doesn't like it when young kids crawl in his crate. It isn't that he doesn't like kids - he has just never been around them and doesn't know how to react when the kids are not kept under control. H (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-10-27-00180Banner (female)
Banner is a beautiful and loving dog with a lot of potential. I am sure that in the hands of the right owner she will be a fabulous dog! Banner has a lot of energy. She loves to run, play fetch, swim, hike, roll around in anything, play tug, etc. Unfortunately, without proper outlets this energy manifests itself in a lot of nervous energy and severe separation anxiety. This fearful/anxious energy also means she has very poor social skills and trouble with other dogs. Banner is fairly dominant as well and this means she has trouble sharing toys with other dogs, or with children and she is protective of me. When toys are not involved, the concern with Banner and kids is that she can be a bit of a bull in a china shop and plow through anything and everything when she has her focus on something. After 5 years of trying, it is just time to admit that Banner and I are not the right match for each other. Working full time, being out of the house sometimes 9-10 hours a day, and having an 8 month old that takes up all my time and attention now, I'm just not able to provide her with the exercise, calm-assertive leadership or consistency that she needs. I will miss my Banner-boo, but I know that if I can find the right setting it will be so much better for her. Please contact me if you are interested in a difficult, yet loving, 70+ pound lapdog with a ton of potential to be appropriately rehabilitated! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Iowa
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
