Onyx is a 6yr old Lab mix She is very sweet, this photo was taken at our recent fundraiser with some of our volunteers. Onyx has been put on the 'possible PTS list' because she is developing a bad cage anxiety and shes hurting herself. She wasnt like this when she first came here, and you cant blame her at all... she has spent her first 6 years of life free range in a home with a family and then at no fault of hers (owner surrender due to divorce) dumped off at the rescue. she is NOT ok with living in a cage!! she wants a loving family to love her as such. As a rescue I have to give her a time limit because she is hurting herself. Please ... (Read More)help us find Onyx a loving home fast!! She would love a large yard to run and play in, she gets along with most dogs but she is the dominate one. she HATES cats and will kill chickens. Onyx will NOT do well as an out door farm dog as she wants to be able to come inside and be one of the family. Border Collie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

very sweet and well behaved border collie. He was at one time potty trained but that has been allowed to lax a little bit as he has been outside in a kennel for years now. He has a lot of energy and will run away if loose. Needs a good home where he can get lots of exercise (a fenced yard or be a house dog with lots of walks). He also craves lots of love and attention, but he is not excessively needy. He is a fantastic companion but for the last several years he has lived a lonely existence confined to a kennel with little attention.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Iowa
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
