Rescue Me ID: 18-04-22-00070Steve (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Steve came to us as a stray. He is estimated to be about 2 years old and still has pretty high energy. We have been working with him on basic commands and leash walking. He is a sweet boy who loves toys and chewies....he knows how to keep himself occupied. He does not mess in his kennel. He loves being outside, so a fenced yard or frequent walks is a must. We do want him to have a predominantly indoor home, however. His breed is our guess...definitely some lab, and possibly Border Collie or maybe Blue Heeler. Your guess is as good as ours! He is fully vetted and microchipped and tested negative for heart worms and available now. His ... (Read More)adoption fee is $100. He can be visited at Harrison County Humane Society of Iowa, 712-644-3003. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dimitri came to us from a local pound. He had a badly broken leg when he came in to the pound but they did surgery and got him all fixed up and ready to search for his new home. Dimitri came to us after his leg had healed though he still limps on occasion and you can tell he continues to heal. He gets along great with all the other dogs and loves to play with them. He likes playing with people too. He is definitely still a puppy. Dimitri likes to try to sit in our laps. He doesn't know that he is a big boy! Dimitri is an 11 month old Border Collie/Coonhound mix. His adoption fee is $200.00. Dimitri cam be adopted at ... (Read More)http//www.secondchancedogrescueofiowa.com/adoption-app.html Thanks! Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bandit is a case of a sad story thats holding him back....he is an AWESOME dog... when you look at his threw bars he looks like kujo.... He reacts out of fear and doesn't show his best self. If you are a patient human and are willing to understand that some dogs take time and you are willing to earn his trust... OMGoodnes you will have an awesome dog. He is so smart. If you do any kind of agility, or trick training...he LOVES to learn. He needs a home that has time for him... hes a dog that needs a person, not the separation anxiety type but the starved for attention type... he craves it. Rescue Me ID: 18-03-19-00435Murphy (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Murphy is a 14 year old Border Collie/Aussie mix with a sweet temperament and loving disposition. While Murphy would be considered a senior at this stage of the game, he has a playful and youthful heart. Murphy loves to be with people and follows his foster parents all over the house. Once he knows where you are going to hang out he will plop down and watch with a curious eye at whatever you are doing (unless there is food involved'|then he will be right by your side). Murphy is still getting used to dog beds so, at times he will just lay down next to one rather than actually ON the bed. He doesn't get up on furniture (although he ... (Read More)could if he wanted), likes to explore outside and go for walks, and gets along with both other dogs AND cats. He has a few favorite toys that he tosses around a little (he carries his favorite pink owl from place to place) and he prefers people who are home more often than not. Murphy has a few signs of age such as a slower trot, some hearing loss (so he needs a secure, fenced yard), more grunting when he gets up and down, and he has had some teeth and a few cysts removed. Otherwise, he is just a good boy that wants a safe and loving home to spend the rest of his days. Murphy is housetrained, crate trained, up-to-date on vetting, microchipped, neutered, and is currently being treated for Lyme disease. Murphy is ready to be in his forever home! If you would like to meet Murphy, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Murphy you can contact sherrie@furfunrescue.org or call 319-558-7737 or rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Indoor homes only. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive

This is Hailie and not a good picture of her. She is a one year old Border Collie mix and she was terrified here at the shelter so she went to a foster home for a while to settle in. When we have more details on her we will post them.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Iowa
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
