Rescue Me ID: 15-02-25-00483Sammy Jo (female)
Granny aka Sammy Jo is such a sweet soul. She is very quiet and easy going. Sammy was found as a stray and no one claimed her :( She was very smelly of a yeast type infection and has a soar on her front leg that she would chew on and she is very overweight. Sammy MUST be on a grain free diet (meaning good quality dog food and no treats or table scraps containing grains, her health depends on it)The day after I got Sammy to the rescue I could smell her from the door way and just changing her food fixed that!!! We believe she is around 7 yrs old she is shy but very friendly, very low energy. This little lady just wants a friend to sit by. We would rather she go to a home with a fenced in yard as she will wonder. Sammy will be good with children that are good to her but she would rather a quiet home. She has never made a mess in her kennel She would like a home as either the only dog or another low energy dog. Her hyper years have passed and she would love to relax. If you are interested in Madam Sammy Jo please contact us for an adoption application :) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-19-00401Max (male)
Max is a stunning 5 year old male Belgian Shepherd Sheepdog mix who was an owner surrender for reasons of 'cost,' nothing that was Max's fault. We aren't sure exactly what the family's situation was, but we know Max is a complete delight and awesome boy.He gets along with other dogs at the shelter and all his care givers whether they are female or male. He was returned because he snipped at his male owner, but we have never seen an issue with him here. He is about 50lbs and has beautiful soft fluffy onyx fur and a movie star smile. He adores people and affection. Max is also great with other dogs and enjoys playtime with all. He is smart and is eager to please. As mentioned Max may have issues with some men and children under, but this is not all men. Max is a great dog that needs a loving and understanding home. He has been through a lot in his 5 years of life and is looking for someone to love him. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Iowa
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
