Rescue Me ID: 16-05-24-00066Piper (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Piper is a sweet, 15-month-old, mixed breed female. I rescued her from a shelter a year ago and due to a change in living situations, I am looking for a new home for her. She is a very loving and energetic girl who lives to be trained. She is wonderful with people and loves everyone. She plays well with my parent's 8-year-old golden retriever, and is the alpha dog between the two of them. She has not been around many other alpha dogs, but when she has she likes to be the one in charge. We completed one obedience course and she learned a few tricks, basic commands, loose leash walking, and is kennel trained (loves sleeping in there). ... (Read More)Piper loves to play with bones, toys, and any ball. She plays fetch like a champ, and will keep going until she is exhausted. Overall, she is a wonderful, loving, and active dog. I love her very much, but know that my living situation is not what is best for her. I hope to find her a very good home; please reach out to me if you or anyone you know is interested. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-10-00571Tango (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tango is a sweet natured 3 year old Border Collie mix who weighs 45 pounds. This gorgeous boy has eyes that seem to see right to your soul and would love a home he can feel safe and comfortable, forever. Tango is a happy guy who listens well. He likes to be near people and is learning the joys of pets and cuddles. He is a quiet boy and hasn't barked in his foster home yet. Tango came from a hoarder home and lived with at least 20 other dogs and very little human contact. Tango may take some time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts, he will bond quickly to those who are patient and loving. Tango's forever home should have another ... (Read More)dog and a fenced yard. He really enjoys playing gently with another dog. He would not enjoy a home with small children. Little ones with high pitched voices and sudden movements would scare him. Tango is housetrained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. For more information about Tango you can contact Roxanne at or call 319-929-6657. To start the adoption process please fill out the application on our website: Adopters within an hour drive of Cedar Rapids, Iowa only. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $200. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-04-00680Brittany (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brittany is about 6 months old and we have been told she is a Border Collie X Pyrenees mix but she looks more like a Springer Spaniel. She is VERY scared right now here at the shelter but is warming up slowly. Nothing mean about her - she warms up if you take it slow with her. She is great with other dogs, has no reaction to the cats and her tail wags whenever kids are in the area. She will take a lot of time to settle into her new home but when she does she will be an awesome family member. Unfortunately the person who had her turned her out on her own at about 6 weeks of age and she had to fend for herself with no human contact ... (Read More)until she was almost 4 months old so she is totally terrified of humans. She has been spayed, is current on her shots, has been micro-chipped and wormed. All she needs is a home with the patience to give her time to feel comfortable. Her adoption fee is $125.00. If you are interested in potentially adopting her we recommend you complete an adoption application which you will find on our website at (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Iowa
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
