Rescue Me ID: 17-02-28-00036Sweetie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Sweetie was rescued with her litter at two weeks old. I was their foster mom and the family made the decision to keep Sweetie. She has been a joy to our family from day one. She loves to visit the dog park and run along beside me when I take a bike ride. Sweetie has a herding instinct but has never been shown the ropes. After running around for a few moments at the dog park and meeting all her new friends; she tries to herd them. She is create and house trained; very easily trainable and willing to please. At one point she was almost trained to turn the lights on and off. Sweetie does know how to close doors. Over the past few years ... (Read More)my mobility has declined and is getting worse and Sweetie is suffering because of that. I just do not have the physical ability to do the activites she needs to be healthy physically and mentally. Sweetie is a sweetheart. Loves to give and recieve attention and to be part of the family. Sweetie is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks so we made her a 'storm cellar'; we put a blanket over a create and put it in the corner. So anytime there is a storm she runs in and lays down and is fine. Never has she needed any type of sedation. Sweetie weighs in at a lean 70 lbs. She is a tall lanky girl who likes to run and cuddle. Rescue Me ID: 13-05-28-00181White Sox (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

White Sox is a male lab/Border Collie born about 1/2012. He is neutered and up to date on shots. Sox gets along great with other dogs, but has never been around cats so we don't know how he would do with them. He is a bit timid around young children so he needs a home without young kids. Sox was born into a home where an elderly lady didn't get any of her dogs fixed and she ended up with a lot of dogs. We are now looking for a home for Sox where he can get a lot of love and attention which he craves.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Louisiana
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Louisiana if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
