Rescue Me ID: 15-01-05-00603Badger (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Badger needs a farm or large fenced yard. He's a 3 yr old border collie/great pyrenees mix - neutered. Likes belly rubs and loves walks! He is not a cuddle dog but very protective. He caught & killed a large oppossum, birds in flight (so free range chickens are not a good idea), and squirrels. He's over 74 pounds (so small children are not a good idea). Must see to appreciate. Please text 816-699-8211 to see him. We will deliver within an hour from our home in Lees Summit.

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

**Angel Kisses is currently staying in a foster home. If you'd like to schedule a time to meet her, please call Wayside Adoptions at (816)986-4426. Thanks!** Hello there! They call me Angel Kisses. I feel so special whenever I hear someone call my name. It's all new to me%BD'%BD|I've never felt special or cared for before, so this is a strange and exciting time in my life. I never knew how precious and sweet life could be, but I do now, so I intend to live each and every moment with a new appreciation. I am a shy and cautious girl, until I get to know and trust you, and then I become silly and playful and super cuddly. Life is good for ... (Read More)me these days. I am a gorgeous, 1 %BD%BD year old, 57 pounds of solid muscle and love, Border Collie mix. I'm already housetrained! I'm so proud to be able to say that, because I've worked really hard to get here. I'm one smart cookie, so with a routine and a little consistency in my life, the sky is the limit with what I can learn! My life has been tough, that's for sure. I was abandoned awhile back in Greenwood, MO, before making my way here to Wayside. Wow%BD'%BD|that was a scary time for me. I've sort of blocked it all from my mind. I didn't really want anyone to come near me back then, so I tried to hide in the back of my kennel. The Wayside staff and volunteers refused to give up on me though, and I've come so far since those first days. I'm still shy and leery of new things, and I still like it when people take things slowly with me, but I'm learning to love life and that's such a great feeling. I've been living in my foster home for about a month now and life is exhilarating! Oh, it wasn't always that way, but once I became comfortable and learned to trust, I sort of went overboard with the family. The puppy in me that had never been loved came out in full force, and I turned into a lovey, high energy, playful, jumpy gal who couldn't get enough attention. I look to Foster Mom for direction though, and when she says 'gentle', I know I need to calm down a notch. I'm smart that way. In fact, the sky is the limit with what I can learn. I already know several commands, including 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', and 'shake'. I love tasty treats and I love to make you happy, so I pick up on things very quickly. I need you to use positive reinforcement with me, please, so praise me when I'm a good girl. That will teach me what your expectations are and help build my confidence at the same time. Someone must have treated me harshly in my past, because sometimes I cower when I think I'm in trouble. I'm sensitive and I want to please you, so I will thrive if you can ignore my bad behavior while praising the good. Please be patient and calm and gentle and consistent with me as I learn. It takes me time to adjust and learn to relax with you, so I appreciate your understanding. My foster family loves having me as a guest in their home! I make everyone laugh when I crawl up in Foster Dad's lap to cuddle. We share the big recliner chair and I think I'm a lap dog. I also like to curl up next to you on the couch and can work my way in even the smallest of spots to be near you. I'm well behaved in my home when someone is around. When no one is there, I stay with my foster dog brother in a pen and that's just fine with me. I do like to destroy things like beds and blankets and toys when I'm left alone. When Foster Mom gets home, I pretend like it wasn't me, but she usually figures it out. Just keep a close eye on me and don't leave me alone with a big plushy bed! I love to get out in the fresh air for exercise, so I hope you like that, too! I'm playful and energetic and active. I do just great on my leash, so I'll make the perfect walking or running partner for you. I hope you don't mind giving me time and space as I get acclimated to my new home. Please go slow with me, especially when introducing me to new people. When I'm unsure, I let out a little growl sometimes, to let people know to give me more space. I think I'll be happiest in a home without kids under the age of 12. I just don't want to have to deal with them. I love other dogs and would love to go home with another, but sometimes my play gets rough and rambunctious. So please bring any other dogs you have out to meet me before we go home together, just to be sure we get along great. And I want a home without cats, please, because I just don't like them. Once I get settled in and comfortable with my new family and routine, I am a wonderful, smart, loving companion who will be happily by your side for the rest of my life. I'm such a perfect combination of active and playful yet affectionate and cuddly. Until now though, no one has given me the chance to show what an incredible dog I can be. I hope you're the one that I was meant to spend my life with. And I hope you find me soon. I'm waiting for you and I can't wait to meet you and start our new life together! Love, Angel Kisses (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-23-00473Sassy (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beautiful Border Collie mix. 3/4 Border Collie, remaining 1/4 is Blue Heeler and Australian Shepherd. Very bright, very healthy, very energetic. Loyal, affectionate and protective of female owner. Has issues with owner's husband and strangers. Has not been properly socialized. Sassy could be a great pet or working dog for someone who has the time and experience to train her. She is sometimes wonderfully affectionate to husband, but consistently tries to herd him, nipping at his heels. When reprimanded by husband she gets aggressive, growling and snapping. This sort of behavior is NEVER exhibited toward her 'person', the wife. ... (Read More) She does not like husband touching or getting too close to wife. Typical of her breed(s), she has high energy level and needs lots of room and a job to do. House trained, and can reliably be left alone in the house with cookies cooling on the table. She never bothers anything in the house. Is good friends with the family cat (though she does herd him too) and does not bother the chickens. Sassy needs a new start with an owner who can handle her with calm, consistent assertiveness. (Less)

Hi, my name is Ruth. Don't ask me how I ended up here. It's all a blur. One minute I'm just going along minding my own business and the next, I find myself in a strange place. I had been hit by a car. I know it sounds strange but I think it was for the best. I'm older and life on the streets is hard. Now, I'm in a safe place and better than that, I've got a real shot at having a real home. I know it isn't going to be easy. Most people don't give a dog my age a second look. But, where there is life, there is hope. At least here I'll be put up for adoption and maybe, just maybe, someone with a big enough heart will give me a second look. Is ... Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Willie. I am a happy and fun loving guy. I love being with people, I get along well with other dogs and I am house trained -all good traits to have. Even at my low point when I was relinquished by my owners, who couldn't afford my medical care, I was lovey and social. We all have things we need to work on and mine is that I was a bit possessive of my owners. I need an assertive person that will take charge so I won't feel the need to take the role on myself. I am smart, energetic and eager to learn. Any good teachers out there needing a new student?

I have been at M'Shoogy's for a long time now and I have seen a lot of dogs come and go. I wonder when it will be my turn to go home with a nice person. Like so many dogs here, I was abandoned and left to fend for myself. When the Highway Patrol found me injured and malnourished, they brought me to M'Shoogy's. M'Shoogy's saved my life and have taken care of me ever since. I'm not really fond of little kids so I would do best in a home with no children.

M'Shoogy's says I have special needs because I am scared and I tend to bite (wouldn't you bite if you were afraid?). They say that if I spend some time with a trainer or an experienced owner that I should be OK. I am a very beautiful dog that looks like a border collie so I am probably very smart and will learn fast. I was found as a puppy and have only known M'Shoogy's; I would like to know you if you have some patience and some heart for a lost soul.

LOOKING TO RE-HOME THIS VERY SPECIAL DOG Niko is a 9 year old boy border collie/flat coated retriever mix. We have had him since he was 8 wks old. He is in excellent health, affectionate, has a beautiful coat and is gentle and loving. He would be a great companion for that special someone who loves to spend time with their dog. He appreciates his daily walks and might do okay living with another dog depending on the dog. He is a great watch dog and will bark when people come to the door. I have never had a need for an alrm. Rescue Me ID: 13-12-15-00413Jack Black (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jack Black is a male Border Collie/Retriever mix. He was released to Furry Kids from a family who did not want him. We are guessing they never gave him much positive attention or socialization because Jack can be a bit nervous or skittish around new people. This includes children. So Jack will not be placed in a home with kids. He loves other animals though. Jack has entered a foster home and we know in time he will learn to love being a social boy! Right now, Jack's foster mom says he is housetrained and kennel trained. He LOVES playing with other dogs. He would love to have a playful friend in his new home. Jack also has a special ... (Read More)trait. He smiles! Yes, actually smiles! When he lets down his guard and starts wagging his tail (and whole back end) side to side, he will raise his lips and smile. If you don't know what he's doing, you might think he was raising his lips to growl at you....but soooooo not true! And soon after, you take every smile you can get from him and think it's just the cutest thing. Jack will be learning to accept new things in life and getting socialized little by little. If you have the patience and love to help Jack Black trust in people again, please fill out an application. He is a great dog and just waiting to find the right person for him! We also think that in time, Jack would make an awesome agility or fly ball dog! He is so fast and light on his feet! :) Jack Black has been neutered, heart worm tested negative, vaccinated, micro chipped and his $150 adoption fee also includes a 2 week trial to help ensure everyone's happiness. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Missouri
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
