Meet Harper a 6 yr. old Chocolate Lab/Border Collie X that is considered special needs due to her separation anxiety and need to stay very close to home in a safe environment. Harper is currently living at Apex Animal Hospital and has been for the past 6 months while she is searching for her forever home. Her previous owner felt she was too much but the staff at Apex believed in her sweet disposition underneath her shy and timid ways. Luckily Harper was given a second chance and her ownership was relinquished to Apex. Harley is looking for that special person that is retired or someone that can spend a lot of time with her. She is not interested in social gatherings, strangers, crowds or dog parks but prefers the quiet life just sitting by your side being the most loyal dog she can be in her own surroundings. Harper's person is her security blanket and it shows in her videos as she clearly needs guidance, reassurance and confidence. She is reactive to strangers and will bark and run away if her person is not close. Harper will need some time in getting to know her new person and it will take a couple of weeks to build up a relationship. An all adult quiet home is what this princess needs. When it comes to other dogs and cats she is a champ! She's not a real player but again finds comfort in having another dog around for companionship as friendly animals put her at ease. Harper has attended obedience training as well provided by Adele Delp and has earned her Canine Good Citizen Award. If you understand what it's like to never want to be alone and to love someone unconditionally then please inquire about Harper at Apex Animal Hospital in Helena at 449-4499. Many thanks to Apex Animal for your care, concern and commitment to Harper... may this sweet angel find her next life to be filled with love and loyalty for a lifetime! Harper also use to live with Dexter the Lab on our webpage. Please don't forget about this special girl. (Less)

Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Montana if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
