Animal ID: 14-4605Mauser (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

I wish dogs could tell us about their past, Mauser would have a lot to say... He is hesitant at first but he wants to please. He is active, playful, and has been around kids but because of his anti-social past may be best at first introducing to a family with no kids or prefer older children. Mauser spent most of his days in a kennel but really needs a joyful family who wants to help socialize him! But he is a puppy and would be very easy to train :)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-10-00313Sadie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sadie is a great dog- loves to camp, swim, fetch, and is very protective of children. She has been known to nip when she feels threatened or her space is invaded by strangers. She is a great companion and needs a loving owner that is willing to make her part of a home and pay attention to her. She likes to be active and also likes to cuddle. She would be excellent in the country or on a ranch setting- she loves to heard and has a natural ability.

Animal ID: 14-ZoeyZoey (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Blind

Zoey is an 8 month old special needs puppy that was rescued from the Fort Belnap Reservation along with her brothers and sisters as they were involved in a cruelty drug bust case. Zoey does have some mild to deficits with her mobility. Her disabilities don't prevent her from being an active dog as she can hike, play and run. Not entirely certain if this occurred from physical abuse or a drug induced environment. Luckily Zoey has the most happy, friendly spirit that is filled with pure innocence. Zoey was adopted and returned for not being potty trained however, she has been left for hours at a time with no consistency. Zoey has some ... (Read More)cerebellum issues that cause her footing to be a bit off. She also has some troubles with depth perception and may have some blindness in one eye but I'm not seeing the blindness at this point. Zoey is considered to be moderate to high energy. She gets along very well with people. She's an absolute superstar in the play arena as she has become an overnight hit at the shelter due to her amazing dog social skills. She has lived with cats but did chase them but never hurting them. You could say she is very playful in a fun way. She has capacity to learn and knows how to sit on command. Zoey will need to find a very special home due to her health issues as they are not fully known. Looking for someone that is interested in a special needs dog. Zoey will be relocating to Herding Dogs of Wyoming in April. You may contact this posting or Joan at Herding Dogs. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Montana
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Montana if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
