Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This smart, loyal, beautiful Australian shepherd/border collie is overly loving to the 'family pack'. He is in need of a farm, or owner familiar with this breed with lots of land to run through and work to be done to fit his breed better than our moderate back yard. Needs a family or couple who will love him and does not have the extensive company entering their home each week as we do. He is trained, very smart, stays with us on hikes in Adk unleashed never shown aggression there, never runs off when able to run free alongside of us but has shown aggression to those entering our home or those not in the pack trying to pet him. He is ... (Read More)nervous with sudden movements of strangers and defensive of his pack. I've cried many nights having to post him as he is still a pup and learning and so incredibly lovable but fear if I do not place him in an environment to succeed I'll be hurting him. This dog is a jumper and if trained in agility would be successful. Prefer to work him into his new home with visits to be sure it is a good fit. I'm not rushing but eager to find a perfect match for this special boy. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-06-00231Zorro (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Zorro is an adorable puppy with an amazing mix: his father was a purebred Malinois and his mother was a purebred Border Collie! He is four months old, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ready to go home! He was born within an accidental litter as a result of his owners not spaying or neutering their dogs. They lived in the country and although Zorro was exposed to dogs, cats, pigs, birds, etc. at his previous home, he was not exposed to any people other than his two owners. When he meets new people he is understandably nervous, and he has never seen children, so we definitely want to place him only in a home without small children, as ... (Read More)they would make him nervous. He would do best with a Malinois/Shepherd experienced home that understands the responsibility involved with taking on a working beed dog that will require a job, training, and socialization as he grows up. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Teddy is a very sweet and loving dog who at the drop of a hat is on his back for belly rubs. Loves kidd and adults but has some fear of grown men if they are loud. He's very smart getting out of crate's and openin gnome doors. He was raised with his male litter mate and recently they started fighting. Not food aggressive but does growl if cornered when he's done something wrong. Is a counter and table serfer so nothing is safe! Loves to climb up on the bed with his head on your lap and hang out with his person. We're moving and can not take him. He needs a new home with lots of running space, someone with herding dog experience to provide ... (Read More)training and a warm bed with his person. Was raised with a dominant female Chihuahua but not good with smaller or bigger male dogs. Fine with cats. Crate trained for night time. Adoption fee to make sure he's not going to be a bait dog!!! He needs a loving home!!!!! (Less)

Next time you see her, Harley will be accepting the gold medal in agility at the summer Olympics! Harley is incredibly fast and limber, and has been showing us just how good she is at many basic agility skills. Coupled with her gorgeous looks, Harley is quite the addition for a family looking for an active dog. We originally met Harley back in Ohio, where we then pulled her into our shelter from a shelter up there. She was quickly adopted from our shelter, but due to extenuating circumstances she was returned to us a few months ago. Being in a kennel environment is unnatural for any dog, but especially for one that had been adopted out so ... (Read More)recently. Harley also prefers to not be around other dogs (0r cats!) so the kennel is particularly stressful for her. Since her return, we have been trying to enrich her day-to-day by incorporating some agility training and she is excelling at it. Harley is incredibly playful and friendly, so the more chances she gets to strut her stuff, the better! Harley is looking to loop her way into your heart-please fill out an online application below if you are interested in adopting! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in New York
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
