Rescue Me ID: 15-04-05-00332Emma Blue (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Emma was born about March 13, 2008 and weighs about 60 lbs. She is a little on the chunky side and could stand a nice walking routine and some veggies in her kibble. She might have gained some weight because her lifelong owner had little time for her anymore as she was gone 12 hours a day leaving Emma on her own. Emma is crate trained, but doubtful you'd need one anymore. She has been just wonderful with the other dogs and she's fine with cats. She is house trained, good on leash and loves car rides, she would just like to have human company again. She's been just wonderful with all of us, not much of a barker. Emma is said to be ... (Read More)nervous around tiny running/screaming children. We are told she can jump 3'fence, but when she does she just hangs around, maybe she was trying to follow her human. She LOVES soccer balls and other toys, still a playful pooch! She has had decent medical care and the last round of blood work was all within normal limits. This girl is here through no fault of her own and would love to find some new humans to cherish her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-11-00603Shamus (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Shamus is 1 year old male Border collie mix who was surrendered to the shelter because his owners could no longer take care of him. He does get along with other dogs and possibly cats. Shamus is an active dog, as most Border Collies will be so he'll need an active family. Shamus is a sweet guy but he's still a bit on the nervous side so he takes some time warming up to people but mostly just men right now but he does warm up. He is also house broken. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00657Tally (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I Love to Wear My Tuxedo! Tally was born about November 4, 2010 and weighs about 65 lbs. She is a beauty in her gorgeous two tone coat of fur! She is very good with the other dogs and does fine in a car. She came to us all the way from Kansas as there is a vet there who also does rescue and we were contacted to get this nice dog out of that high kill area. She is a little reserved at first meeting, it just takes a bit of warm up time. She's not at all bouncy, barky or hyper. Tally is just one nice medium energy sweetie that we feel would be happiest in an adult/teen home. She is fine with little kids, but she may not be her ... Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00636Marley Reed (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I Was TRULY Loved!!! Marley was born about March 25, 2013 and weighs about 40 lbs. Just look at her crazy fur!!! It matches her silly personality. She was left at the pound because they had too many dogs, not sure what that means, but I'm wondering if Marley was chosen because she was so adorable that she'd find a home easier than some of the others. She was truly loved, two pages of notes come with her from the former owner. She is house broken, good on leash, and is wonderful with dogs! We have discovered that small, running, children do make her nervous, so children 8 and up would be best. She is a major snuggler and loves to ... (Read More)curl up with you, don't tell her she's a little big for a lap dog, she doesn't care. She loves to play, but is not hyper and she loves to swim and play in the snow, just wait until she sees a northern snowfall!!! There is one thing you need to know, she will dig out of a fence if she sees small critters on the other side, so you'll want to be sure your fence is secure on the bottom. Marley promises to be a special addition to your home! The 'Reed' group of dogs came from a high kill pound in TN. Since we've been going to this shelter, for the last several months, they have not had to kill for space or time served. It had been five weeks since we were there and they begged us to come back as they were down to the wire and needed us desperately. So, once again, our Facebook fans came to the rescue and donated close to the amount that we needed to be able to make the journey. Thank you all SO much and thanks to Katie who makes this 26 hour round trip in about 36 hours - good thing she's young!!!! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in New York
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
