Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

Hi guys! My name is Scarlette. I am a gorgeous, 4 month old female Border Collie mix. I have the cutest little spots on my front legs, and my nickname as a puppy was 'Sweetie' because I was the snuggler of the bunch. The Halfway House came across a post by the owner on Facebook stating someone needed to pick up puppies that were living outside with their mom on a chain, because of the cold weather. The Halfway House quickly scooped us up and got us inside, away from the snow and cold temperatures. It has been 2 months now since we were rescued, and we are healthy and ready for our forever homes! The Halfway House believes the father may be a ... (Read More)larger breed dog, because we are going to be a little bigger than the average border collie. We have had all of our shots, we have been dewormed, and we are on heartworm and flea and tick medication. We are not yet old enough to be spayed/neutered, but there will be a signed contract making and a follow up to ensure that is done. Please dont delay in putting in an application on me! I am so ready to go to my forever home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-14-00558Susie Q (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SusieQ is a joyful dog. She loves people and is always glad to see anyone, and loves to give kisses. She loves to chase a ball and, if not distracted, will bring it back to you. Her foster mom has two other dogs, so she gets distracted often. She prefers to hang out with her more submissive foster sister, Becca, a 3 year old Aussie mix, but has no issues with her more assertive foster brother. Her manners still need some work, especially when it comes to waiting her turn. She is very treat motivated, from a training perspective, and does better in her training sessions when she is alone with her foster mom. She is an equal ... (Read More)opportunity love bug enjoying spending time with both men and women. She doesn't appear fearful at all and has no problems with new situations like going up steps, through door, etc. She has a petite frame and an easy to care for smooth coat. She won't take much grooming to keep her looking her best. She will lay still for 5 to 10 minutes at a time for her grooming sessions and doesn't try to grab the brush. There are no children in her foster home, but since she does have a tendency to jump up when she gets excited, she probably shouldn't go to a home with small children. She is not 'mouthy' at all, so she would be fine playing with older children, particularly if they are dog savvy. SusieQ met the family cats and didn't go after them, but was very curious. Even after one of the cats bopped her on the nose a few times, she was still cautiously curious. Right now we are calling her 'cat-curious.' Her foster mom isn't sure if she is 100% housebroken, but she does spend the night in her crate without any problems. SusieQ would be fine either as an only dog (if you have the time to keep her busy) or as a member of your pack. She would love to have another dog that would play with her. A fenced yard is a necessity as she is still working on her recall. SusieQ is definitely trainable, and needs people who are willing to spend the time to work with her on a consistent basis. She is still working on her leash manners, she doesn't pull hard, but likes to be out in front. Overall, she is a joyful 'right-size' young lady who really loves people and likes other dogs. She will flourish in a home with people who have dog training experience. If you have an active lifestyle and are looking for an active loving companion, SusieQ would like to meet you. Just fill out an application then contact her foster Mom at mikeyspencer1979@gmail.com. (Less)

She does great with children and has a strong maternal instinct. Freya is fine with cats now that she has lived with them for some time. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Hello! This is Taji, an Aussie/Boarder Collie mix. I've been fostering him for the last few months, and he's an absolute joy. I'm only interested in re-homing him to the perfect home. This dog needs a job, and ideally he finds someone who's interested in training him to be a livestock hearding or guard dog, as he has it in his blood. He will only be given to someone with a farm/property with room to roam, as has been raised around livestock (he's getting acquainted with chickens, currently will not attack unless left unattended, and I'm convinced with further training he would be able to be around them without supervision.) He's very ... (Read More)responsive and smart, and extremely loyal and fairly protective. He's good around other animals, very submissive to all dogs, but is uncertain about children. Again, I'm sure with the right exposure he'd be fine, though I wouldn't want to give him to a family with small kids. He has been abused in the past, and is very sheepish and vocal about negative reinforcement, though responds well with positive feedback. He does dig in our small yard when left unattended, which is another reason room for him to roam is important. He is great off leash, and is a wonderful jogging/hiking buddy. If you're interested in meeting him, I'd love to come bring him to you to see your property and housing set up. This dog deserves the best home, and again, I'm only going to pass him off if the situation is better for him than the one he is currently in. Right now, he gets a lot of attention and comes to work with me, but it would be ideal for him to be used for what he is made for (i.e.; livestock/the farm life.) (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy was re-homed last year after being with a military family who relocated. She is crate trained and walks well on a leash using a body harness. She is very timid/submissive at times, but can be aggressive towards other animals (other dogs, squirrels, birds, etc.). She prefers being in the same room with people and likes getting all of the attention. She loves to tug on her toys and eat. She likes to be petted, rubbed and played with, but she also will lay quietly. She doesn't chew on anything except her toys and she lets you know when she needs to go out to potty. She can be very vocal at times, not barking though. She will usually only ... (Read More)bark if provoked by other dogs. Lucy is a sweet girl, we cannot keep her because we have 2 very active young boys and she does not tolerate being fallen on or over, stepped on, or laid on. She would do well in a home with no children or older children who are more aware of her presence. Please help us find her a better suited home. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in North Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
