Rescue Me ID: 18-04-24-00402Layla Love (female)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rescued 2 months ago. Was outside dog, had no shots, no vetting, needed treatment. Layla is an extremely loving companion dog and would be a great active companion and snuggle puppy for the right person. She has been vetted and is healthy and up to date, on vaccines, flea/tick and worming monthly preventative. Housebroken, crate trained, very smart and quickly learned tricks. Walks well on leash/harness and enjoys walks and hiking trails. Will get along with other dogs away from the home. Never barks at people, dogs or animals walking and hiking or in the yard. Exposure to cats is unknown. I rescued Layla myself and she is extremely ... (Read More)attentive, listens and responds well to verbal and hand commands, very loving dog that wants to please. She is learning to play and play with toys. I have 2 rescue dogs in the home already and would keep Layla if she would get along with other dogs. She and my German shepherd mix have issues. She will need to be fixed, this was not top priority as she is safe with me and needed other treatments first. DOB 3-15-2016. Contact me if you would like to meet her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-23-00382Ruby (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Ruby! Ruby is this adorable and vigorous little Pit Bull/Border Collie mix who's looking for a forever home and is sure to steal your heart from the very moment you meet her. She is believed to be just under 12 months old weighing in around 35-40 pounds. Ruby is a super sweet and loveable girl that we can guarantee that she'll win you over with her cute and larger than life personality! The story behind Ruby's rescue is one we unfortunately see too much of these days'| Her former owner surrendered her to POP Rescue after being confronted by a neighbor and one of our most loyal and compassionate fosters saw her running around playing ... (Read More)in the middle of a busy farm road. The man's response to the danger Ruby was putting herself in was 'So? Go ahead and hit her then, that'll teach her!' Thankfully, he didn't have any problem in giving Ruby up where she's now got her second chance of finding the perfect and loving forever home! Ruby absolutely adores attention and doesn't know the meaning of a stranger. Her tail literally never stops wagging and without fail, she always wears a big smile on her face. This pretty girl practically craves human interaction; she adores meeting new people and always asking for a good belly rub or a scratch behind the ears. Ruby is one extremely intelligent and well behaved pup; leash and crate trained, knows the meaning of 'sit' and 'lay down', and will go wherever you go! However, we don't think she would not make a good candidate for the condominium or apartment dweller unless you are ready to take on the daunting task of providing her with the necessary amount of exercise and stimulation. Ruby has a tremendous amount of hyper energy with loads of play drive! She's really like an energizer bunny on a sugar high and will play for hours at a time. We strongly believe that because of her level of intelligence and athleticism, she would be great at doing a number of different dog sports such as flyball or agility! She also shows an interest in herding her fosters' cats and chickens so with the right amount of training she just might make a nice working sheep or cattle dog for those who live on a farm. Everyone that meets Ruby immediately falls in love with her and it's easy to see why! She is the kind of dog that is impossible not to fall in love with and certainly one you don't want to overlook! With her level of intelligence and obedience along with her sweet loving nature towards people, we guarantee that she would make a great addition to your family'| to simply put it to words; Ruby is the perfect dog who's looking for the perfect family to spend the rest of her life with! Ruby is spayed, HW negative and UTD on her shots (She is also chipped!). Please email us for an Adoption Application if you like to apply at: pawsofpiedmont@gmail.com (Less)

Hi my name is Juliette. I was named after Juliette Low, the founder of the girl scouts. Why?? Because just like her, I am deaf. I can hear really loud noises, but for the most part not much else. My foster mom has been teaching me hand signals and I already know sit! I am a border collie mix and am about 6 months old. My foster mom says I won't get much bigger than 25 pounds so I'm just a great size. I love, love, love people. I can give kisses all day. I love to play with the other dogs in my foster home as well. I have lots of energy!! Sometimes they don't always want to play with me so you know what? I just play by myself. I toss ... (Read More)my toys up in the air and then go get them again. Chasing balls is my favorite. I do great in the car and I love to go on walks. My foster mom says I walk great. I don't even pull. I am crate trained and I'm working really hard on my house breaking. I'm doing good but sometimes I still have some accidents. I will be spayed soon and microchipped too. My foster mom would love if my new home would be familiar with deaf dogs or be willing to work with me on my hand signals. She said I'd also love a fenced yard to run around in. If you have any questions, please email my foster mom, Nancy at nancy@pawsforlifenc.org, She'd love to tell you more about me or fill out an application at www.pawsforlifenc.org. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello my name is Bella. I was surrendered to a high kill shelter in NC with my best friend Tiny. We had lived in our home together since we were puppies and then one day our owner took us to this scary shelter place. We were so scared and confused and really needed out of there. The shelter was really full so they contacted my rescue and asked if they would take us before we were euthanized for space. I am a 1 year old border collie blue heeler mix and weight around 30 pds per my vet records. I am dog and cat friendly but I will chase the cats trying to play but I do not want to harm them. I love to play and run and need a family or ... (Read More)individual who will play ball with me, take me for walks and be active with me. My rescue has told Tiny and myself they would try to find an adopter for us to go together but if that doesn't happen, we will need to go our separate ways. I love Tiny but I'm sure we will adjust without one another. Tiny is a 10 pd Chihuahua that is also 1 year old. She isn't as active as I am and would be happy to be someone's lap dog. She is also dog and cat friendly. If you are interested in me or both of us together, please send an email to my rescue. They said we will be ready for adoption the end of April. Love Bella (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-04-11-00226Bond (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

One year old Bond, gentle, shy, rescued from a terrible hoarding case where he was always kept in a cage. So everything is new to this long legged boy: grass, floors, doors. But he is coming out of his shell, loves taking walks, is great on a leash, and will stay close by your side, which is comforting to him. Bond is still afraid of some things but shows no sign of aggression. This is a docile sweet young dog who we expect will blossom in a gentle home. Prefer mature adopters or family with older kids as the noise from young children would scare him. So would dominant dogs. We will neuter Bond on adoption. He has all his shots and is ... (Read More)heartworm negative. If no one steps up fast we will accept a foster home. Pls no calls, fill out form on www.crisisdogsnc.org We will reply! Home visit and vet ref required. We will transport to an approved home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-21-00167Sasha (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Hello, my name is Sasha. I am a very attractive spayed female border collie mix looking for my forever home with the right family. I hope you will take a few minutes to look at my picture and learn my story. I am just over ten years old and weigh 50 pounds. I am black and white throughout with a soft, well-groomed medium length coat. I have brown eyes. I am initially timid around new people so it takes me a while to bond. Once bonded I am loyal and attentive to my family. I am well behaved in the home, do not require a crate and am housebroken. I am a great walker, good on the leash and know the basic commands. I love walking in my ... (Read More)neighborhood as well as on trails at a park or in the woods. I also love riding in the car for any sort of outing with my family. I am a good watch dog - barking when necessary but not excessively. I like to stay close to my people and would do best in a home with a single person or couple -- someone who has time to care for me. I should not live with children in the home since I don't have any experience with them. Also, I don't do well with other dogs within the home so I should be the only dog in the home. I get along great with cats, having experience with them in two different homes. I do well during my visits to the vet. I am not a herder. I do play with my rope toys but I don't require a lot of exercise outside of some daily walks, so would make a good companion dog. My favorite pastime is to spend time near my people. I do require a fenced yard as I have a tendency to wander if not on my leash. In the past I have had some skin problems and ear infections but through treatment, diet and care these have been brought under control. I am up to date on all of my shots, am heart worm negative, on a heart worm preventative as well as on a flea and tick preventative. I was rescued from Rowan County, NC animal control in May of 2014 but because I was not accepted by my foster family's other dog I moved in with a senior lady neighbor (with cats). After three years in this arrangement I came back to my original foster family when this lady could no longer care for me. I am now in a new foster arrangement where I am the only dog in the home, get daily walks and plenty of love. I am still looking for my forever home. If interested in finding out more about me, seeing more photos and the opportunity to meet me please follow up with this posting. All serious inquires will be vetted, will require references and a home visit as well as the adoption fee donated to Rescue Me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-07-00303George (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our sweet boy George is the laziest and happiest dog around. Unfortunately, we are finding he is not too crazy about our 14 month old daughter. With another baby the way, we've come to the heartbreaking decision we need to re-home him. :( We adopted him from a bad situation 3 years ago. He had severe skin issues and was heart worm positive. He is now heart worm free for several years! We mention this because I think some vets want to retest every few years. George is also hypothyriod so he has to take a small pill with breakfast and dinner or else he is very lethargic and will gain weight. They are not expensive, probably $20/month. And ... (Read More)we are happy to provide several months supply of his meds. He is obviously not good with children from what we're finding. He is also in a home that has a doggie door and spend 80% of his time outside so someone that can give him access to roam whenever he pleases is a must. If he had any say, he would probably choose a farm to go live on! :) Seriously inquires only! George is our baby and we will not adopt him out to just anyone. Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hey there! My name is Miley and I'm a Border Collie/Lab mix. I am pretty AWESOME because I am so appreciative of every little thing! I had a pretty rough start in life, but luckily I was very good at adapting to new and unexpected situations. I spent my first year of life living in a dog hoarder's trailer with too many other dogs to count. I had a special friend, who I think was my sister. She was very shy and scared so I was her guardian. I was the outgoing, (non-aggressive) protector. I was so happy when she found a wonderful FUREVER family, but I was so sad to not have her around anymore. At first, I didn't know what to do or how to act ... (Read More)without having to take care of her. Sometimes I still get really nervous in new situations and might bark and/or appear anxious. However, I still adapt quickly and with a little time & patience, I will fit into any situation. I just LOVE all people so much that once I know you, I might just 'throw myself' on you, demanding to be loved on. I will probably do better with older kids, so I don't accidentally knock them over when I get so excited to see them when they come home after a long day. I would love to have another young dog to play with & run free & wrestle with in a fenced yard. I'm used to being crated when my foster Mom is at work, but she comes home at lunch to let me out to play with my foster sisters for 35 - 40 mins. I actually like being in my crate because I feel safe there and I will run there whenever I am hungry or I want a treat. I just have SO MUCH LOVE to give and I can't wait to find my own furever family! Also, I am being featured for the month of June so if you adopt me anytime in June, my adoption fee will be waived. If you would like to see if I would be a good match for you, please contact my foster mom at foster4mycharlotte@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-09-00201Elsa (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Elsa! We have had her in our rescue since: Oct 20, 2014. Please read about her, as she has only had 3 fosters..who loved her dearly..just not the right time to adopt..she was the perfect apartment dog for a college student who was very active... She is a 45 pound boxer/border collie mix who is approximately 4 years old. This girl is nearly the total package. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and healthy! She is also the perfect house companion. She is content to snuggle somewhere while you leave the house, and doesn't require a crate. She is fully potty trained/house trained. She fetches, knows all her ... (Read More)basic commands, and some pretty interesting ones. Elsa is so affectionate, and loves people of all ages. She's great in the car too!! She truly is amazing and will make an absolutely wonderful, loyal best friend for you. She's the perfect dog to come home to! She would rather spend time next to you than do anything else in the world. She'll win your heart immediately. She should have a fenced yard, unless her forever family is willing to play, walk, and exercise her regularly. Currently she is fostered in an apartment and goes running and biking with her fosters. Elsa's only caveat is that she must be the only pet in the household. She is very dominant and would not do well with other cats, dogs, etc. Elsa used to attend events and was fine around other dogs as long as they were not right in her face. Though Elsa has since not had much interaction with other animals, which has made her reactivity to other animals heightened. When she sees another dog now she attempts to lunge towards the animal pulling very hard on the leash. She would need slowly reintegrated to seeing other animals again, though will never be able to live with them, attend dog parks, etc. If you are looking for the perfect dog who will love you unconditionally, and are okay with just having one pet this is the girl for you! PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in North Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
