Rescue Me ID: 16-11-28-00281Cookie (female)
Hello, hello, HELLO!! Hi! What's happening? What's up? It's me Cookie! Do I sound like I have lots of energy? Huh? Do I? DO I? Hahahaha!! Yep - I'm Cookie and I'm an 18 month old Border Collie who weighs about 40 pounds. I'm looking for my very special forever home and family. I am NOT an apartment dog and must be exercised regularly and/or have a specific job to do. I'd be a great companion for a longish distance runner - 10 miles would not be an issue for me! I would make an excellent agility dog, or fly ball would be fantastic too. Any regular activity that will help me expend my energy will be fantastic. Just leaving me outside in a fenced yard will not be acceptable. When I've been sufficiently exercised or have done my job (herding!), I am a fantastic indoor companion. I'm very house appropriate and get along with most dogs. I don't go to the bathroom in the house - that would be so rude!! I totally love just chilling out with my people! I've been spayed, am heartworm negative, and am up to date with my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $250. If this pet interests you or you have any questions about this pet, please fill out an online application at http://udranch.com/adoption-application/ and we will be happy to answer any questions and arrange a visit! |Rescue Me ID: 16-11-27-00403Banjo (male)|
Hi there I'm Banjo- Are you looking for a puppy like me? I'm a little Black Lab/ Border Collie boy and the shelter thinks I'm about 9 months old. I don't know what went wrong that I ended up in a rural high kill shelter. I seem to have gotten lost from my family and someone brought me here as a stray. I was still wearing my harness, so the shelter was sure that I had a family who would come looking for me. But I've waited, and waited, and no one has come. Finally the shelter staff took off my harness and faced the sad truth- no one is coming to look for me. I'm now running out of time in this shelter and I'm hoping YOU might be looking for an amazing puppy like me?! I'm about 30lbs and tons of fun. I love people and have lots of puppy energy. I'd be great with a family that likes to do things outdoors or exercise. I'd be a great roadtrip or camping buddy too! The shelter thinks I'm just fine around other dogs and kids too- basically I'll make a great new family member. Please won't you call or come down to meet me? I'm at the McDowell County Animal Shelter 3751 NC 226 S, Marion, NC 28752 - Phone: (828) 652-6643, or you can contact Jamie.Stillwachs@bwar.org if you're interested in fostering me to save my life. Please hurry- I don't know how much time I'll have left! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-26-00360Bonnie (female)
Bonnie is a very sweet natured little girl, approximately 3+ years old, who wants nothing more than to be loved. She's a medium-size, at approximately 30-35 lbs. As with many rescues, Bonnie's past is unknown, but we know it didn't include much human love. She will need to go to a family with dog experience. She does have a fear of men, but will run away from men, and will need work to get past it. Her foster dad works with her daily, and she has shown great improvement. She also can be, on occasion, very skittish, and head shy. Her foster parents say Bonnie has become such a funny, loving, and spunky little beauty. She is very intelligent, gets along great with their pack of five dogs, and even though she's not played with the neighbor kids, she gets happy and excited when she hears them. She is housebroken, crate trained, not a barker, and can easily be won over with patience, pieces of hot dogs (her favorite for training purposes!), belly rubs, back scratches, and kisses on her nose! It will take time, patience and love with this gorgeous little girl to have her as part of your family, but the rewards will be priceless. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-16-00202Sierra (female)
Sierra was adopted through our organization 3 years ago and due to her owners circumstances changing she is now searching for a new home. Please read below to learn all about her! She is in foster, so if you are wanting to meet her begin by filling out an adoption application and then we can set up a meting. Sierra is a 4 year old Border collie mix that been a wonderful companion for the past 3 years. My situation has changed at home, so I'm not able to take care of her in the way she needs and I feel it would be best to find her a new home. Sierra is very social, intelligent and trainable. She has a very high energy level, and loves to play. Whether it's playing fetch with a ball or tug-o-war with her favorite chew toy, she's all about having fun. She also has a sweet side, and is great with people that come into my house or with friends around the neighborhood (she loves being around people and other dogs), greeting them with an exuberant tail wag and even rolling on her back to see if she can score a tummy rub. She loves to play with her dog friends in the neighborhood, and is great in a kennel that has the dogs playing together during the day. Our daily routine has been walks followed by a bike ride (or should I say horse race, check out the pictures!). Every morning after our walk, we'll do the same loop with her running beside my bike. It's starts and finishes with a sprint, often going up to 25mph. She loves it and jumps with excitement every day when we're getting ready to go. She also loves hiking and playing in the creeks in Umstead Park. It would be best for Sierra to be in a home without other dogs, as she has been aggressive with other dogs in her space on a few occasions when she wanted a ball or high-value food. Sierra would do best with someone who is aware of a border collie's characteristics and is willing to put the time into her exercise/training. I'm happy to share many more details about Sierra if you're interested. Our hospital is open for adoption visitation Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 5:00pm and Saturday's from 8:00am to 11:00am. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 919-266-8177 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. All adoption fees are cash or check only, we do not accept credit cards for adoption fees. To speed up the adoption process please visit our webiste, www.mmahrescue.org, to fill out an application and get pre-approved when you arrive to meet your new best friend! Prior to meeting an adoptable animal we do require an approved application to be on file, sorry for this inconvenience. Cat adoption fees are $50 for kittens under 16 weeks of age and $75 for kittens/cats over 16 weeks of age. Dog adoption fees are $150 for puppies under 16 weeks of age and $175 for dogs over 16 weeks of age. (Less)

Chipper has a great personality he is very calm, loves to play, loving and sweet. He does good with our 2 year old son. Only reason for looking for him a new home is because we just dont have the time to give him the attention we feel he deserves.

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-14-00458Beck (male)
Beck loves his people and is very protective of them. He is slow to warm up to new people and sometimes is very anxious around people he has not met before. He loves to run and play with other dogs and is even gentle with small dogs. He plays soccer, frisbe and fetch with the tennis ball. He sits, rolls over, waits, walks on leash and give high fives. Unfortunately we are unable to continue to care for Beck in our home. We would love to find him a home on a farm with other dogs and animals. An open adoption that would allow us visitation would be wonderful! He is a well loved dog and we are so sad that we have to find him another home.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in North Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
