Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

MISSY is an extremely loving border collie mix that my family took in from an animal shelter and saved from euthanasia a year ago. When we adopted her she had an open embedded collar or wire wound, and she didnt know anything about being and indoor house pet. In the last year she has healed from her wounds, been spayed, received her shots, some of which will be due again soon, become kennel trained, mostly potty trained( an accident here and there if she is forgotten to be let outside), learned how to interact to our other dogs, our cats and our toddlers. She has come from being unsure of a submissive or aggressive behavior to an even ... (Read More)temperment. She enjoys relaxing in her environment, being with a family and giving and receiving lots of love and affection. Missy is ready for her forever home. Does your home need her? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-18-00051Jack (male)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Blind

Jack is a 2-year-old male Border Collie. He was intended to be a worker here on the farm, but went blind at a year old. He is an absolutely gorgeous worker, on sheep especially, but his blindness makes it difficult for him on the very rough mountain terrain of my farm. I would love to see him go to someone that wanted to continue his training! He is sweet and affectionate with people he knows, but can be nippy with strangers if he is unsupervised when they arrive. Jack is fairly calm for a Border Collie, but is still a high-energy dog, so would do best somewhere that he will be worked, or as a jogging/hiking companion (he is a very ... They are currently in our large fenced in kennel area and we interact with them daily. However, we have American bulldogs that will not except them inside. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in North Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
