Rescue Me ID: 15-02-17-00733Manny (male)

Border Collie    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi guys! My name is Emmanuel. I go by 'Manny'. Everyone thinks I am an Border Collie mix. I am about 9-10 months old, and I weigh about 45 pounds, but I could stand to gain a few pounds! Ps, I love hotdogs... just saying! Before coming to Rowan County Animal Control, I wasn't so sure about people, because I really wasn't handled much at all, and when I got loose, no one came looking for me. I was not loved. I was not cared about. I am very young, just a puppy, but I almost lost my life because I didn't show well at the shelter because I was so scared. Luckily, The Halfway House Animal Rescue pulled me on my last day, and got me into a foster ... (Read More)home where I can learn how to be a loving member of a family. This is all very new to me, but I think I am starting to like this 'snuggle' business. My leash manners are a work in progress, because I have never been on a leash before, but they are much improved! However, my foster mommy says I do great on a gentle leader. I would love to go to a home with a running partner. My foster mom takes me on runs, and I absolutely love that! I would be a great agility dog as well, I am smart and high energy. Please consider loving me, and adding me to your family. I am fully vetted, heartworm negative, and The Halfway House is now taking applications for me! I am so excited! I am still not sure about dogs, but I am learning how to properly behave around them. Most dogs dont like me because I try to nip at their heels as heeler type breeds are tend to do. To be honest, I'm a very fearful boy, so I don't know how to act in certain situations. But I am learning! An older, bigger dog who will correct my inappropriate play behavior without hurting me may do just fine in a home with me! I like cats when they don't attack me or run! I am good with children and adults. I will need an owner that understands the herding breed mentality, as I am high energy and I need a strong, smart owner. In the right home, I will be the absolute best dog! ABOUT THE HALFWAY HOUSE FOR ANIMALS OF NC: We are a foster based rescue out of Salisbury, NC that predominately pulls animals on their last day before euthanasia from Rowan County Animal Control. Each dog is/will be fully vetted, UTD on shots, spayed/neutered and ready to be incorporated into a new home. Adopters will be subject to an application, a home visit (local) or virtual visit (out-of-state), an adoption fee, personal and vet references, and a short phone interview. Please inquire by email to put in an application for our sweethearts today! Thank you for taking the time to read about our dogs and rescue! (Less)

Klyde showed up at our farm in March with his sister Bonnie (also posting) and we posted on our local lost and found and contacted shelters, but no one has come forward. We believe they were dropped with 2 other puppies in our area (someone else found them)and we have been doing our best to care for them, but they need a forever home. They are currently in our large fenced in kennel area and we interact with them daily. However, we have American bulldogs that will not except them inside.     Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
