Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Six years ago my wife and I rescued Elliott as a puppy from a local pound. We love the dog! He is super intelligent, knows tons of tricks, walks great on a leash, loves to play and ride in the car. Unfortunately, we now have two small children and they make Elliott super anxious. He has never bitten but he is very verbal when my toddler is near. We need to find a good home for him. He would be a great dog for a family with teen age children or for empty nesters. We took him herding once and he took to it immediately. I used to be an Army Chaplain and Elliott was my wife's companion while I was deployed to Afghanistan. It is ... Rescue Me ID: 14-03-08-00062Maggie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maggie is a very smart dog. She loves being outside, but is an inside dog. Maggie rings a bell to go potty, but also rings the bell because she loves to be outside. She will REQUIRE a fence because she has and will run out of the yard. She has no fear of traffic. Maggie is very protective of her home and will bark very loudly when someone comes to the door. She does well with our other (male) dog, but can be aggressive if visitors bring their dog when visiting. We dog sit for family members very often and she recently tried to fight my mom's dog because she walked past her when she was eating. She can be dominant in that way. One thing to ... (Read More)note, she seems to be ok with male dogs!! She does NOT do well with female dogs, so an adopter with a male dog may be fine. She likes to know where our kids are at all times, but is NOT interested in them cuddling or snuggling her. I always say that she thinks they are her sheep to watch over, not playmates! She will give them a warning growl. Due to her constant desire to go in and outside when she pleases, and with her aggression towards visitors dogs, and her warning growls, we are re-homing Maggie. We will re-home her to a home with NO small children or grandchildren. Despite the concerns above, Maggie is a LOVING, LOYAL dog who loves to lay on the bed or couch with you. She loves going on walks and going to the park to slop around in the creek. She would make a GREAT pet for a single woman who needs a watchdog companion!!! She weighs about 42 pounds, her fur is like velvet, and she is 3 years old. (Less)

Hi, my name is Donovan, and I am gorgeous, with my beautiful coat. I am a little shy at first, but if you give me time I will blossom! I am fine with other dogs, and even deal with kitties just fine. I would love to play with kids. I am crate trained and am doing well indoors. My shots are up to date, and am heart worm negative, and, yes, I have been fixed (I didn't think I was broken, but I guess that is a good thing). Adoption donation is $125.00

Chloe is a 26 month old dog whom my son and I rescued from the SPCA when she was 5 weeks old. She is good with all kinds of people and pets! She likes to 'herd' and is a great watch dog. She is full of energy and needs space to run around and preferably a fenced in yard. She is not destructive at all. She is an inside/outside dog, having spent most of her nights snuggled up to 'her boy'. She has been completely housetrained since she was around 4 months old and does not get up to 'do her business' at night. She will make a wonderful addition to your home. We are able to keep her until we find her a fantastic home.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in North Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
