Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00655Rosco (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Abused/Neglected,
 Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Rosco is very unpredictable. He is good with my other dogs and cats. He knocks children over, so I wouldn't recomend a home with them. He like females rather than males, he cowers around males. I honestly think rosco was abused at his previous home because when I brought him home he was aggressive and fearful now he is very hyper and dominant. If someone were to pick him up I would have to take him out of my home because he's extremely territorial of his property. I would rather someone who knows about his breed to adopt him. If u have any questions feel free to contact me

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-13-00499Hank (male)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is a lovely animal. He has many wonderful traits. He is smart, eager to please, loving towards humans, very trainable. Wonderful dog to do agility, fly ball, natural herding instincts. His negative traits are he is aggressive towards other dogs. He currently lives with two other dogs. a female lab and female cattle dog. They get along for the most part but at times Hank must pick on the Lab. He will not cross the dominate female cattle dog. Hank escaped our home the other night and he attacked another dog who was out on a leash walk with his owner. This has been a fear of mine. I realize that I am not the best owner for this beauty. And ... (Read More)a town setting is not the best place for a 'farm' animal. I do keep him exercised on bike rides with me and playing fetch in the back yard. He must not go to dog parks until his aggressive streak is fixed. He is also completely house broken. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Kobe is a Border Collie mix who is about seven years old. We love Kobe's lovable spirit and energy. He deserves to be in a home where he is not often left alone (he has separation anxiety) and gets plenty of loving attention. Kobe would enjoy living in the suburbs or the country, so he could have plenty of access to the outdoors. Most of all Kobe needs patience and hugs. He does like to enthusiastically welcome visitors with barking and jumping, but he eventually calms and becomes good friends with guests. Even though he is a gentle soul, Kobe's excitement would be paired best in a household without small children. Our goal is to make ... (Read More)sure Kobe is in a home where he is doted on and loved. Please contact us to discuss if Kobe would be a good fit to join your family. Thank you for your time. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-15-00399Midknight (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Midknight is trained and will sit, stay, come, lie down and fetch. That is why it is so baffling that he attacked my mother when she was trying to walk through my front door. He has seen her multiple times before. He was in the yard on his 100 foot run and one of the children left him off just as my mother was approaching my front door. He normally does bark at her quite a bit when she pulls into the driveway, but she never goes near him, and no one could have known he would react that way. He is a healthy young dog who normally listens and has never been aggressive before. He did not get neutered until he was 10 months old and he has ... (Read More)border collie in him. Also our children were playing by the front door and so we do not know if he believed he was protecting them and/or the home. We have monitored him for 10 days and he is still healthy and is still obeying, but we have noticed that he is kicking grass up with his hind legs when he goes to the bathroom, and he has been seeming more and more dominant. Things we should have definitely picked up on a few weeks ago when they became more prevalent, looking back. We just were not paying attention and the changes were subtle. Our vet feels that if he could have behavioral training to get rid of the growing dominance (which he says comes mostly from the border collie in him) that he would probably be fine. But I cannot keep him in good conscience because of what my mother went through. We are going away at the end of the month of May and need a home for him BEFORE we leave, since my husband's parents will no longer watch him for us ever since he attacked my mother 10 days ago. We were going to take him to the Humane Society next week, but I cannot surrender him without telling them about the attack and I am afraid he will not have a fighting chance to live and get a home. The Human Society told me to look into Lab rescues first to see what I can do, and to bring him in if no one contacts me by a certain date. He has always been good around children and adults, but I feel that he should maybe just be in a home with one or two adults... unless he can have good training to rid him of his dominance issue. That is only my personal opinion. My children actually did work to pull him off of my mother and the dog never once turned on them. Please call me and leave a message if you have any questions. Or email me, which is preferred since I work all kinds of strange shifts. (he seems to have german shepherd markings and we think that his border collie dad must have been part german shepherd). PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Pennsylvania
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
