Animal ID: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/2952Susi (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Susi says she has some very important criteria for her adopters...and it doesn't seem like these are negotiable in her mind: (1) They must throw a ball for her daily. She looks forward to this every day in her foster home. She'll run like the wind to chase a tennis ball! (2) They must be willing to work with a trainer for obedience and possibily agility training. Susi needs a job to do. She's delighted to learn and that's when she shines...when she thinks she's mastered something and she's pleasing her human by doing the task. Without regular mental and physical stimulation, she gets stressed. Don't worry, she's medium energy. (3) ... (Read More)They must be willing to be very patient with her. Due to her past emotional and physical trauma (see below for details), Susi says she needs patience and love...lots and lots of love...including but not limited to: belly rubs, petting, leaning against you, and lots of emotional happiness from her humans. (4) They must love sloppy doggie kisses. We know for sure this is absolutely 100% non-negotiable! (5) They must be the kind of people who do not stress easily. She picks up on your emotions and if she's already stressed, then you getting upset makes it worse for her. (6) They must be willing to use LOTS of verbal praise. [We think she was yelled at a lot.] (7) They must provide a basket full of toys for her to chew on. All kinds of toys please! (8) They must provide a large crate with comfy bedding. (9) They must be adult humans with a huge fenced yard [at least 4 feet high]. (10) They must choose her as their one and only pet. (11) They must not give up on her, ever. If they commit, they must commit to her for life. Susi will reward you with tail wags and lots of kisses if you can meet her criteria! BIO FROM HER FOSTER MOM: Susi has had a rough life and we're looking for someone who can commit to her forever. She was shot (may have more shotgun pellets in her), had her foot caught in a trap (left untreated/healed deformed), and at a young age her owner decided he didn't want her any more and was going to shoot her to euthanize her (where she lived this is actually legal!). She was then rescued, vetted and adopted, but was returned months later when her owners were moving. Let down by humans again! She is now back in foster care with three adult humans and several other dogs of varying sizes. If the dogs get too excited, Susi gets stressed by it and doesn't know what to do. If they're calm, then she'll just chill out and hang out with them. But when they're hyper, I've had to teach her to go into her crate when she can't handle it, which she is beginning to do. At this point, I feel Susi would be happiest as an only pet so she doesn't have to worry if the other dogs are excited because they're happy or they're going to possibly attack her. (She may have had that happen in the past, we can't be sure since we don't have much of a history on her.) She needs someone who will understand her and love her and show her what it's like to be truly accepted. Susi would do best in an adults-only home with a huge fenced yard. She cannot live with cats (wants to chase them). She is mostly housebroken (does best with crate training) and sleeps in her crate at night. Due to her stressful past, we do not recommend her for a home with children. If you're looking to adopt a dog that really needs a home, and don't expect perfection, please submit an application if you'd like to show Susi what forever means. Animal ID: http://hdr.petfinder.comTrixie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Can I be your bed buddy??? Trixie would love to sleep in bed with you! And go for car rides too! She also loves to get brushed. Trixie is a sweet and playful, smooth coated collie/border collie mix. Her coat is VERY soft, I can't stop petting her! And she really seems to enjoy it, too. She gets along well with other dogs but seems to prefer the company of smaller and more low-key dogs. She'd probably do fine as an only dog, too. She loves to chase other dogs, so if you have a dog that likes to run, Trixie might be a good fit. She is very people-oriented and as soon as her foster mom gets up to move, Trixie is focused on her and ... (Read More)wants attention. She loves to cuddle with you and get belly rubs. She takes treats from your hands fairly gently and always sits for her dinner. Although she adores people, she doesn't show any signs of separation anxiety. She's fine when her foster mom leaves the house. She is housebroken and non-destructive. She likes toys but doesn't chew inappropriate things. She has free reign of her foster home and only had a few accidents when she first arrived. She sleeps on the sofa at night and is always patient waiting for her foster mom to get up and go outside. She also rides well in the car and lays down to nap when on long trips. She's too interested in cats and small/furry critters to live with them. Fenced yard required (invisible fencing will not hold her, she's too interested in chasing wildlife, especially rabbits). Trixie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She's estimated to be 3-5 years old and weighs 39 lb. Please submit an application if you'd like to meet her. Adoption meetings are scheduled after the application is reviewed and the vet reference is checked. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD'%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BDAdoption Application: http://form.jotform.us/form/41555257797165 (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Pennsylvania
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
