Rescue Me ID: 17-09-06-00111Keema (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Keema is a remarkable and intelligent dog looking for a new home. She loves to run, hike, play on the beach, catch frisbees and explore new places. She would love to have a job and plenty of space to play. Keema is incredibly trainable and wants to learn new things (especially if a treat is involved). She would be a great candidate for agility training. We adopted Keema several years ago from an unknown environment and she still carries some of the insecurities from that time. We have invested a lot of time and effort into her and she needs a strong and experienced dog owner to be most successful. We are heartbroken to give her up but she ... (Read More)has not been able to adjust to our increasingly mobile human baby and is very anxious as a result. She deserves a family with the time, energy, space, patience and love to allow her to reach her full potential. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Rhode Island
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Rhode Island if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
