Rescue Me ID: 16-09-23-00504Hiatt (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This beauty is Hiatt. He has been with us way too long and has been living in boarding. There is no reason this boy should not be in a home of his own. He has made great strides and we feel he is ready for adoption. Hiatt would love nothing more than to have a nice floor to lay on, sofa to snuggle on, someone to hang out with and someone that could devote just a few minutes a day or even every few days to some very simple exercises that are beneficial to him. Hiatt has an old leg injury that has healed so now he just has to learn to stretch it out. We have been treating him with hydrotherapy and he is responding well to that and he is ... (Read More)really enjoying all that attention too. The exercises are simple and likely things that you would do with your dog anyway but things he can't get living in boarding so it does hinder his progress. He gets around fine and is not in pain but this will just be a bonus for him and help him walk a little taller and straighter. Hiatt is such a good boy. All he wants is for someone to love him. Some one to care and make him feel a little bit special. He does not demand a lot and is a pretty easy boy to care for. His few demands are simple. He needs to be an only dog because he is dog selective. We feel sure that once he is comfortable and knows that he is loved that he may be more accepting of another dog, it will just take some time. He is not mean what so ever, sweet as can be actually. You do have to establish with him that you are the boss but that is easy to do and he listens and learns very fast. Hiatt has been going to hydrotherapy weekly to help him learn to stretch out his leg that has an old injury and he is doing great with that. It is not necessary and he will do fine once he has someone that spends some time with him and just helps to keep him using that leg. As you can see in the photos he gets around great. If you have a pool that's an added bonus for him but it is not something he requires. Bonus: Adoption fee- ZERO FREE 12 month supply of heartguard FREE 12 month supply of flea preventive FREE large crate FREE large bag of food FREE Harness and Leash BONUS BONUS~~~~We are going to pay for FOUR more session of hydrotherapy for Hiatt!!!!! Application, home visit and contract still apply. If you think you would be a good home for this sweet guy, give him a chance. He sure deserves it. Humans have not been kind to this boy and he needs to have someone make that up to him. If you would like to meet Hiatt send us an email Adoptions@teamstinkykiss. com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-03-00306Sally Ann (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sally Ann is a year and a half old Border Collie Mix who was found in a land fill by a Good Samaritan and taken to boarding since no one wanted her. She developed pyometria and also had heartworms. Another Good Samaritan paid for all of her vetting, and paid for her to be boarded Until forever home or rescue was found. That was 9 months ago. The donor paying for boarding could no longer afford to pay for her boarding, so her fate was to be humanely euthanized. We were truly her 'last chance.' True to her breed, Sally Ann is highly intelligent, and the most loyal dog that you will ever meet. She is longing to bond with someone. Sally is ... (Read More)extremely affectionate, loves to follow your every footstep and would make someone a wonderful pet! She would do best in a home with no other animals, as she really wants to be the center of attention - and after all that she has been through, we think she deserves just that! Sally is crate trained, leash trained and has basic obedience skills. She is very trainable - highly food motivated and eager to please her human. Sally loves to play with toys, particularly tennis balls. Curling up in a big bed is one of her favorite activities. She is a major sweetheart! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in South Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
