This young man was born in our shelter and we had a wonderful foster step forward and took all six and the mama. While we were weaning some of the puppies began having seizures, our vet unfortunately couldn't get them under control and they were euthanized. We waited to see if any problems would occur with these puppies, and thankfully they have done well. They are now available for adoption!

She is a great coddler and loves attention however we are moving and there is not enough room for her to run and I would hate to keep her cooped up. Please help us find her a good home.

Rescue Me ID: 14-05-24-00493Lela (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Lela has a story to tell. She deserves for the story to be over and her forever family to have come. Lela was a stray, being cared for by a local neighborhood and living on the street. She was known as 'happy' because she smiled with big pearly teeth when she was excited. Eventually, Animal Control caught her and she was taken to the pound with her buddies. All of her friends were put to sleep and we pulled Lela at the last minute. She was severely emaciated, skin and bones, and covered in ticks. She went immediately to the vet where it was diagnosed that she had 4 tick borne diseases and was heartworm positive, but we couldn't give up on ... (Read More)her! She started a month of treatment and was soon healthy from all but the heartworms. Lela is vet guessed to be 5 years old and is wonderful with other dogs, and cats. She has also been great with our children. Lela was adopted by a great family who wanted to do slow kill hearlworm treatment which of course is a blessing to rescue finances. Unfortunately, the home did not work out for Lela although they loved her. She is now back at rescue and on the hunt for her real home and family. She deserves it so much after all she has been through. This girl deserves love, stability, and a wonderful forever home. We hate to have her back at rescue as she is going to get more sad after losing a chance at a home! Please consider opening your heart to this lovely girl! Lela's adoption fee is $150. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in South Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
