Rescue Me ID: 16-09-23-00504Hiatt (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Hiatt! Hiatt is a3 year old Border Collie mix. Hiatt was one special rescue. When we were alerted to Hiatt, he was living under a truck. He was extremely emaciated and upon his first vet visit we learned that he had been shot multiple time with BBs. The vet assures us that the BBs are not causing Hiatt any pain or health problems. Since joining Stinker Nation, with lots of love from his foster mom, Hiatt has put on a bunch of weight and he is a healthy boy now! He does have a bad rear leg that was probably caused from a previous injury, but he doesn't let that slow him down! Hiatt is ready to find his forever family! Hiatt is ... (Read More)selective about the dogs he chooses to mingle with so he would be best in a home with no other dogs. He also does not care to mingle with cats so a no cat household is a must! Because of his size, it would probably be best if Hiatt go to an adult only home, Hiatt will need a very confident human who is willing to give him a lot of structure and positive discipline. He needs someone who will help him understand that he is part of a family, but that he is not the alpha in the family! Hiatt is heartworm positive but don't let that scare you of! He has been through a round of antibiotics and he is now on regular monthly prevention, which will kill off the heartworms over time (this is known as the slow kill method of curing heartworm) Hiatt's adoption fee is $175 which cover his neuter, DHPP and Rabies vaccines, flea and heartworm preventive (through date of adoption), and microchip. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-03-00306Sally Ann (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sally Ann is a year and a half old Border Collie Mix who was found in a land fill by a Good Samaritan and taken to boarding since no one wanted her. She developed pyometria and also had heartworms. Another Good Samaritan paid for all of her vetting, and paid for her to be boarded Until forever home or rescue was found. That was 9 months ago. The donor paying for boarding could no longer afford to pay for her boarding, so her fate was to be humanely euthanized. We were truly her 'last chance.' True to her breed, Sally Ann is highly intelligent, and the most loyal dog that you will ever meet. She is longing to bond with someone. Sally is ... (Read More)extremely affectionate, loves to follow your every footstep and would make someone a wonderful pet! She would do best in a home with no other animals, as she really wants to be the center of attention - and after all that she has been through, we think she deserves just that! Sally is crate trained, leash trained and has basic obedience skills. She is very trainable - highly food motivated and eager to please her human. Sally loves to play with toys, particularly tennis balls. Curling up in a big bed is one of her favorite activities. She is a major sweetheart! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-09-00210Cowboy (male)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/18/16 Reason for being in rescue: found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Weight: 63 lb Height: Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? yes What kind of home would be best for me? Cowboy is loyal and loving. He would excel in a home where he could be active and by his peoples side regularly. A fenced in yard with room to run would be wonderful. He will attach very quickly to his new home. Cowboy ideally wants to be the one and only pet in your home. He is a handsome boy who wants all of your love and attention - can you blame him? He is fine with dogs in general, but prefers more ... (Read More)submissive, laid back dogs. Cowboy just doesn't like sharing his people and stuff (including food) with another dog. He could potentially be ok with another dog given time, patience, and addressing his behavior properly, but we think he would ultimately do best as a single doggie. He loves loves loves people! He just loves to play and is a big strong boy, so we're advising he go to a home with children 10 and older. What is my personality like? Cowboy is very laid back. He does not pull while on leash but walks beside and does the natural herding dog thing by looking up to see what you want him to go next. Not interested in toys or balls. Comes for the most part when called, will sit for a treat. He is learning to lay down on command. Loves to be loved on! He is very eager to please. How I act when I first meet new people: Sweet and friendly House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: 4 years Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.     This dog was severely malnourished at the time she came into my care. She had upset stomach and a great deal of digestive difficulty. In the three months since she came into my home, she has picked up about fifteen lbs, improved in her overall health and disposition, and really shows a sweet and loving personality. She is very affectionate, loves to take walks, and is friendly with other animals, cats and kittens included. In addition, she requires enzyme replacement therapy to help with her digestive problems. ... (Read More)These treatments have helped her a great deal. PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in South Carolina
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
