Animal ID: 17-05-20-00375MACK (male)
Mack is about 5 years old and is a Border Collie/Lab mix. He was originally adopted as a baby and then had to come back because he was not happy about the new human baby in the house. It confused him and he wanted to bark at it because it was odd. The family returned Mack as a result. Mack has a big bark and can be a talker about new people or new dogs, but he isn't a yappy type of dog. He loves to play in his exercise run or the play yard and loves to get visitors in his outside area. He has never shown any type of bad behavior with older children, but tiny, tiny humans freak him out so older children would be best. Mack is a terrific mix of play and relax so he would make a nice addition to a family looking for a walking or jogging buddy but are not interested in a very energetic dog. Please ask about an application for Mack! (Less)

'Jeffro' is as sweet as he looks. This boy was rescued while trying to survive living near a swamp where he'd obviously been dumped. He's grown up in rescue and desires a home of his own SO MUCH!!! This boy is young (between 1.5-2 years old), and he LOVES to play. Jeffro is a happy boy so long as a toy can be in his mouth! Jethro is ready to make some lucky family so happy. He is ready to finally close his rescue loop and be on a his forever home. Please call Lisa at 731-499-0739

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-20-00216Charlie (male)
My name is Charlie. I am a labrador retriever/border collie mix. I am playful, energetic, and affectionate, although I am a bit shy with new folks, I warm up quickly. My favorite activity is playing tag with my sister, Chelsea and chillin' in my pool. My sister and I were abandoned on the side of the road, in bad shape when were were about 10 weeks old. Thankfully were were found and brought to rescue where we would be safe and loved, but what I really want is a home of my very own and one for my sister also, we have been waiting so long to share our love with a family, one that will never abandon us, one that will love us forever. I am current on my vaccinations, neutered and ready to fill your life with joy!! If you would like to adopt me or my sister, or even both of us together please Email Ruralanimalrescueeffort@gmail.com for an application! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-08-17-00136Seamus (male)
Seamus is a really sweet, intelligent 3-year-old purebred border collie (we have his papers). He was bred by a farmer in New Mexico who treated him very well. We raised him from 3 months and never physically corrected or harmed him. He knows all the basic commands, learns quickly, and even responds to hand gestures. Seamus is really a great dog, but unfortunately we are finding that our living situation doesn't meet his needs. He loves to swim, fetch, and run, but is growing increasingly fearful and anxious, which causes him to sometimes growl and bear his teeth at us (and sometimes bite). We live in a camper and have to travel often, and he needs more space, stability, and an owner with more experience handling unstable dogs. I wouldn't fully trust him around kids, who don't know how to read his body language when he's hiding and feeling anxious. I want to emphasize that Seamus was never abused and is a wonderful dog, but he needs rehabbing. He needs daily, intensive exercise for his body and mind, and potentially could even be helped by anti-anxiety medication. We love this dog and this has been a difficult decision, but we've realized we can't give him what he needs and his quality of life is suffering. For the right people who have the time, patience, and resources to work with him, he would be an amazing dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-07-00081MaryAnne (female)
Maryanne is a beautiful black and white Border Collie/Lab mix. She is a bit chunky, but she can run like the wind! She is very affectionate and loving with people, but she is selective when it comes to dogs. Her approximate date of birth is March of 2008, so she's not exactly a young girl. She has spent most of her life at Rescue, after she and her brother were tossed over the shelter fence in the middle of the night. She has known great love here but little else. We believe she deserves more than that, we believe she deserves to be a part of a family and we hope you will, too. If you would like to adopt MayAnne, please apply online http://www.adoptapet.com/rural-animal-rescue-effort-rare/adoption-application-2/ or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get one to you. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Tennessee|
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
