Rescue Me ID: 17-11-17-00346Riley (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Riley: 6.5 months; Sex: Male; Weight: 28 lbs (almost done growing); Height 18 inches; Activity Level: Active Companion; Breed: Border Collie Mix; Coat: Black and White Rough Coat. Spunky and Exuberant youthful, Riley, is needing his Alpha to keep a structured environment. This pup has gone through SO many changes that I can't wait to see him in his new home!! It take a special person to understand Riley. He needs someone to keep him challenged and focus. He is an energetic boy who is fearless to loud noise, car rides, and trips to the vet. He enjoys leash walks, balls and toys, and rolling around in the grass while working on sticks and ... (Read More)with grunting games but only when his people are outside. Needs lots of fenced in areas for running - he has to let his wild side run free. This pup has really come full circle from a boisterous confused pup running the streets at almost 3 months; coming into rescue in July, I have been working with Riley laying the ground work for manners inside the home. Manners on walks; crate training (a must have for him to feel safe in his own den space); coming when called; comfort level in varied situations in the home. He is a bit strong willed and will have the run of your home; privileges when earned and asked. Structure and boundaries and earning rewards are what he truly craves. As you can see from the video Riley gets a real kick out of dogs and doesn't stop when a dog sits down, giving space to the other dog or reading 'body language'; more than likely he didn't get enough time with him momma dog. Riley would do best as an only dog or with a dog that can handle this behavior well that is larger and present as a leader to other dogs. Due to his impulses he will most likely do best with no children with his energy level and an older Alpha Mini Me of mom or dad; he will need a good yard with a secure 6 foot fence; appropriate training classes are SO important for this pup as he matures. Continued routine and practice something I really stress for Riley's maturity. Riley is fully vetted; has been on heart worm and flea preventive; is micro chipped to rescue and his adopter on a legal neuter agreement. All adoptions require application process, meet and greets and home visit (if applicable) to ensure the fit is perfect. Riley's adoption donation is $250 with a legal neuter contract, $325 alteration/baby teeth removed scheduled within rescue services . (Less)

I'm good in cars and walk well on a leash. At night, I sleep on my dog bed and I'm 100% house-trained (so no accidents in the house for me!) I would be happy going on walks and running around, but I'm just as happy curled up with my bone and hanging out relaxing around the house with you. So let me know if you're looking for an awesome girl to hang out with and be your forever friend!

Border Collie    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Rocket (Border Collie) He was 6 years old 8-14-17, and we've had him since he was almost 9 months old. He is incredibly smart, high energy, has a happy, funny yet quirky personality. He is an excellent house dog, crate trained, but we've never needed to use the crate. He wants to please, loves to play ball outside and plays hide and seek inside with his toys. He prefers people, but unfortunately has a dark side that comes out unexpectedly around strangers. He tolerates, though not well, other dogs, and will always be the Alpha in both situations if allowed. He is very healthy, current on all his shots, on monthly heart-worm and flea ... (Read More)prevention and sees the vet yearly for his physical and to have his teeth cleaned. He sees the groomer approx. every 6 weeks with a weekly bath and daily brushing in between. During the summer months, I keep him clipped short. He eats dry food- Nutro Brown Rice and Lamb. He requires personal interaction and needs to be with a physically active, dog confident owner with no small/young children. I'm brokenhearted, but it is not an option for him to stay with us any longer, so I'm in search of a new home for him. If you or someone you know might be interested please email, call or text me and I will give you more details about him and why I'm looking for him a new home. Rescue Me ID: 17-11-09-00071Lady Di (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. Meet Lady Di! She's an 8-10 month old Pointer/Border Collie mix weighing about 33 lbs found roaming in a restaurant parking lot near 45N and Beltway 8 a few ... (Read More)weeks after hurricane Harvey. The poor girl had been there 2 days trying to hop in cars with restaurant patrons, begging for someone to take her home. We have been searching for her owners with no luck, and while she adores her foste r mom and dad, it's time to look for her forever home. She has a mostly calm demeanor, she's playful and excitable but also likes to lay by your feet and chew her bone, or cuddle on the couch. She's very sweet, gets along well with other dogs and children, does well on a leash, and loves to go for car rides. She's smart, house trained, and has recently learned to 'sit'. She's the perfect dog in so many ways, please help us find her the best family that she so deserves! Come meet this sweet girl at our Adoption Center this weekend! PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Ellie is back and really ready for adoption this time around being fostered with her rescuer learning more, as her adoption wasn't a good fit for all parties nothing she did that made this decision in fact all the grandkids loved her.%BD%A0 All we knew about Ellie is that she was left behind in a barn during an estate sale showing she had been bred quite a bit, had a lot of trouble moving around and walking her back end had sat in a U shape for who knows how long in that barn. She is still gaining ... (Read More)confidence as her own dog inside the home and on walks on the property as well as leash walks. Ellie loves it when I am outside reading a book as she can come over and nudge me all day long for pets and knows she can also have a place next to me or sit in the grass with a calm command. She rides nicely in the car is not nervous at the vet and enjoys the dog beds in my home and the safety of her crate. She can still be anxious inside uncertain which way to the door or if OK to drink from water bowl. In my open floor plan I use baby gates for engaging boundaries for Ellie to be loose in with me or if I am very busy inside she uses her crate as a safe den and for rain or fireworks. Ellie is doing some training work to move forward from past experiences that can be easily transferred to her new home, she is totally up for a road trip to meet her perfect match. When you meet Ellie you might ask what happened why does she have arthritis in her hips and knees and can't enjoy the couch like my other dogs? Well no one cared to walk her in her former home and she didn't get adequate exercise in her previous adoptive home but she loves the leash and will walk about a mile a day using a joint supplement, fish oils and a heated Tumeric recipe for her arthritis as she does much better than on medications. A perfect home for her would be: an active retired person, someone who works from home; or a dog walker work day home; a home who is familiar with a strong willed dog who needs to use her manners and listen to her human boss and continue to learn what she missed out on as a younger dog!! A small properly fenced yard (6 feet) would suit her fine, an active dog in the home who respects Ellie's boundaries she would enjoy as she really can run with engaging stimulation, she is excited about cats but will stop with 'cookie' command, she does fine with children and will allow hugs and pets but won't be the type of dog that comes running to children however if it is too busy in the home she does fine in her crate. All adoptions require application process, meet and greets and home visit if applicable to ensure the fit is perfect. Ellie's adoption donation is $150 for seniors that need that special home (Less)

Emily was found in a box in the park with her siblings at just a few weeks old. She is shy at first but once she is comfortable she is a playful active puppy! Our best guess of breed is Border Collie/Lab mix maybe with some Catahoula mixed in. She should be medium to large sized full grown. The adoption fee is $150.00. An adoption application, home visit and adoption contract are all required. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age, microchipped, and wormed for internal and external parasites. If you would like more information or an adoption application, please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. ... (Read More)Please note that visual breed identification in rescue dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only GUESSING at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. (Less)

He can be overly stimulated using his herding mouth but tricks and redirection help this young man know the direction his human is asking for. Tip is looking for an experienced dog person who understands the sensitivities of the Border Collie and may not be suitable for off leash. He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience. He is not suitable for cats and children/grandchildren as he is scared of people with fast movements and can fear bark it's just not a fit for him.     Meet our beautiful Mischief. She is a year old and part Jack Russell, part Border Collie. Her weight is 30 pounds. She is very smart, energetic and loving, plus very, very responsive to training. I love this girl and she deserves a fabulous home. She is good with all other dogs, tolerates cats, but, because she was a thin, starved and frightened stray, she is a little food aggressive. I have taught her several commands. Mischief knows sit and house- means get in her crate. She is also house trained. Her adoption fee is 200 dollars. Levi was hit by a car and his back was broken...he healed on his own but it left him with no bladder control. He was often observed running around N Ft Worth trying to survive his injuries and people throwing rocks at him :( In spite of his misfortune, he maintains a joy and love for life that is incomparable. He needs to wear a diaper when he's inside. He is in excellent health otherwise and wants nothing more than safety, a soft bed to sleep in, nutritious food, clean water and treats. Poncho #14763 - If you are looking for a low maintenance dog look no further than Poncho Poncho is about 4 years old and around 55 pounds. He is up to date with all his vaccines and is neutered. Poncho is a little shy, but he is very smart. He can sit, shake, lay down and tries to roll over. Food is not extremely important to him, so he takes treats very gently. He is a medium energy dog, so he does need frequent walks. He does pull when walked on a leash but does calm down after the initial excitement wears off. Poncho is very ... A home with no cats is a must as he has a high prey drive. He likes to bark at and chase every squirrel that comes within 5 miles of him. We think he is a border collie/lab mix.     BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Texas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
