Looking for a foster or, better yet, a forever home for a sweet pup rescued from an emergency situation in Kingwood, TX. This beautiful girl was found chained in the yard of an abandoned house with no food or water, without the ability to even lie down. A kind-hearted neighbor had been feeding her for days until it became apparent the owners were not coming back. She is a young dog, weighing around 40 lbs. She has a sweet disposition and is good with other dogs, cats, kids, and people. If you or someone you know can foster her please email me at dwalls001@cox.net.

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

$50 or possible waived adoption fee to seniors, disabled, and fee waived for therapy dog group. Levi was hit by a car and his back was broken...he healed on his own but it left him with no bladder control. He was often observed running around N Ft Worth trying to survive his injuries and people throwing rocks at him :( In spite of his misfortune, he maintains a joy and love for life that is incomparable. He needs to wear a diaper when he's inside. He is in excellent health otherwise and wants nothing more than safety, a soft bed to sleep in, nutritious food, clean water and treats. In return he has a soul of pure love to share.

**Scarlett is currently being fostered in HOUSTON. She is available for out-of-state adoption as well to the perfect family. Her tax-deductible adoption fee is $200 for local adopters and $495 for non-local adopters, which covers her transport to her new family, a travel kennel, and health certificate. She is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped.** Hi, I am Scarlett. I am a great girl who found herself wandering a neighborhood with no family. I looked and looked for my family but they never came to find me. My lucky day happened when a kind young couple took me into their home and helped me. They made sure I was safe and found a great ... (Read More)rescue group to help me. They even gave me my Joyride all the way from Dallas to Houston!! Now I am doing amazingly well in my foster home. Being a really smart Border Collie mix means I have the potential to do or become anything! I would really like a home with home with people who are active and who will give me exercise and attention. I love to be petted and loved on and will do just about anything for a treat! I love my foster siblings, and one of my favorites is the 8 pounder. She and I became good friends right away. I play very gentle with her but also like to romp and roll with my 65 pound foster sister as well. I love riding in the car and walk very well on a leash. I am house-trained and have even learned to use the doggie door. If you are looking for a new family member to hike, bike, or cuddle on the couch with, I just might be the right girl for you and your family!! Email info@joyrides.org to meet me!     This dog came to my door step. I took him to the vet and had it fixed for fleas and ticks and tapeworms. That has given him a clean bill of health and he is currently on Trifexis. However I have to leave town tomorrow for work and will not be able to care for him so I need to find him a home. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Maria was adopted from our little shelter about 12 months ago. I had believed the adopter was a great fit for her. I had numerous occasions to hear how well she was doing. The only concern was she chased deer. The adopter is very fond of the deer and views them as pets. She had a run in with a deer several months ago, needing vet care. The adopter believed she had learned her lesson. She was returned to the shelter. The adopter told me she was uncontrollable and would not listen. The adopter told me that beating her did no good. She simply would not listen. My heart broke for this wonderful dog. When I held her, she looked at me and I saw ... (Read More)trauma and fear, not fear-aggression, but fear of uncertainty of her future. I believe she must have been struck many times. While she is listed as a border collie/lab mix, I believe she has another herding breed in her make up. I will be working with her at the shelter and will update this when new info is needed. She was very shy the first time in the shelter. I believe her toe a wonderful dog, deserving of a second chance. She would love a home where she is part of a loving adopter. I WORKED HER THE NEXT MORNING AND SHE SAT CONFIDENTLY AT HER KENNEL GATE. SHE WAITED FOR ME TO LEASH HER, WALKED EASILY ON LEASH, AND WILLINGLU RETURNED TO HER KENNEL AFTER THE SESSION. SHE ACCEPTED AND PLAYED GREAT WITH ANOTHER FEMALE DOG. SHE ALTERNATED EXPLORING THE SHELTER YARD AND COMING TO ME TO BE STROKED AND TALKED TO. SHE DISPLAYED NO SHYNESS OR HURT THAT I SAW THE DAY BEFORE. (Less)

This HANDSOME Goof Ball is looking for a forever home. Time is of the essence. He was abandoned by the used car lot after it was sold. 2 of his friends have found homes - he is all by himself out there. He was so well behaved at the adoption event today too. He didn't want to get out of my car to go back to the used car lot. Very sad. He was good with older children that were there to pet him. He loved on everyone that he met. He is a bigger guy at 62 lbs and he is 18 months old, so he may get to be 70 lbs as an adult. We think he is a Pointer Mix or Smooth Coated Border Collie Mix. Fully vetted - UTD on shots, deworming and neutered. He ... (Read More)will come with a FULL TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP that we are providing. I will even loan you a crate if you would be so kind to foster him until a forever home is found -- it is so dang hot out there and he is outside 24/7, even in this storm. We have been granted 1 week to move him to a foster or forever home or he then will go to shelter and they are full, so he will be marked for euthanasia. This is MAX. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-21-00028Drew (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Drew: 2 yr Male BC/Aussie Activity Level: Sports Companion/Active Companion Diet: Instinct Duck & Pea/Red Meat Raw & Veggies Special Talent: Catching Air Kiss w a Hug/Kiss; Clicker Trained/Responsive/Whistle Responsive Training: Heavy Socialization/Fear w Positive Boundaries Experienced Dog/BC Owner Potentials Drew is the kind of Border Collie that reads my mind with his eyes, attention to my body language, and wicked smart. He can be a hyper fellow who loves to work/think at home and on the leash, cuddly with great curls and an awesome air kiss hug trick. This pup just enjoys life so much and loves to play, great with any training I give ... (Read More)him mostly in our environment incorporating that into play in the yard, on the leash, special toys enjoying new play games. Drew is looking for an experienced dog person who understands the sensitivities of the Border Collie and may not be suitable for off leash; lots of room to run and play; 6 foot Wooden Fence; human break during a work day. You see his litter came to my rescue July 4th 2014 at 4 months of age which is a prime life experience for any dog. Drew overcame a lot of fears and had some imprinting from the owner reaching/grabbing all the 8 puppies running free on her 3 acres in Louisiana. He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience so he can play with them and give those amazing kisses! Drew would do great in a home that can further his understanding of the world, create fun games when playing outside, enjoy taking 'working' walks/hills walks-hikes (away from sidewalk and using tricks) and his settle for the day will rise and shine. I do feel he would benefit from another dog from in the home that would be his activity level and enjoy fun BC/Aussie play and or another close knit group of dog friends he can enjoy weekly play time with; he would do well with a BC experienced school age child, crates nicely with a break during a work day, a 6 foot fence is required, and follow his diet as his colon is super sensitive and all of his training/diet have been laid out for the next journey in his life! If an out of area applicant would be a potential match it is required they come to Houston to meet Drew and potentially stay a few days to further the matching process. Application required, home visit required, donation $325. (Less)

Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tip: 2 yr Male BC/Aussie Activity Level: Sports Companion/Active Companion Diet: Instinct Duck & Pea/Red Meat Raw & Veggies Special Talent: Sit Pretty w Front Paw Balance; Clicker Trained/Responsive/Whistle Responsive Training: Heavy Socialization/Fear w Positive Boundaries Experienced Dog/BC Owner Potentials Tip is a striking boy that is more private dog with strangers and affection. Once he feels comfortable he will open up his trust and really enjoy his time with his people and he is super smart. He is ready to bound outside for fun times or leash activities, needs lots of room to run and play with a 6 foot wooden fence, human ... (Read More)break during a work day. He can be overly stimulated using his herding mouth but tricks and redirection help this young man know the direction his human is asking for. He does focus on a variety of balls as he runs and explores things, actually easy on the leash but strong if something catches his interest and totally excited when we run and play in a few hill hike/bike trails enjoying commands for jogging as well. Tip is more private about his comfort level for love/petting and is working on this as he does enjoy our fun hugs and makes eye contact. Tip is looking for an experienced dog person who understands the sensitivities of the Border Collie and may not be suitable for off leash. You see his litter came to my rescue July 4th 2014 at 4 months of age which is a prime life experience for any dog. He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience. He is not suitable for cats and children/grandchildren as he is scared of people with fast movements and can fear bark it's just not a fit for him. I do feel he would benefit from another dog from in the home that would be his activity level and enjoy fun BC/Aussie play and or another close knit group of dog friends he can enjoy weekly play time with; crates nicely with a break during a work day, a 6 foot fence is required, and follow his diet as his colon is super sensitive and all of his training/diet have been laid out for the next journey in his life! Rescue Me ID: 16-06-21-00014Ellie (female)

Border Collie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Ellie! Female, B/W Border Collie; 8 yrs young; Activity Level: Companion, Weight: 34 lbs. Despite some arthritis in her hips and knees, Ellie is healthy and relatively active and not living with pain. Ellie longs to leave behind her old life of being forced to make puppies in a barn where she was eventually abandoned in El Campo. That joyless life never taught her the essential doggie skills of playing, chasing squirrels, or cuddling on the couch - all things she is learning to embrace in the foster family she shares with 2 active Border Collies, 1 cat and an older child. She is a very smart, sweet girl who hardly ever makes a ... (Read More)sound; loves naps in her crate or a quiet corner. For as quiet as she is, Ellie gets very excited and silly around mealtime. She loves her food but no biting or snarling and she is learning more patience (you're in the barn anymore, Ellie!) She enjoys walks, 1/2 mile or so, and is getting pretty good on the leash - no pulling! Her ideal forever home would be in a warmer climate like Texas to help her joints stay pain-free. Although Ellie is fine for hours alone during the day, she would do great with a work-at-home owner. She's great with children but older or more mature children are best. She's not into intensive play and doesn't really get into toys. A fenced yard is perfect for lounging in the grass and chasing the occasional squirrel. She doesn't require a large yard but does need her walks as regular exercise is essential for Ellie. Other dogs are ok provided they respect her disinterest in active play. A dog-savvy cat is ok too. Given proper exercise, diet and supplements Ellie will be a beautiful sweet companion to some lucky person for years to come. Take a look at her videos and photos. Ellie is fully vetted and micro-chipped. Her adoption donation is $250. There is an application to adopt and home visit may be required. (Less)

Animal ID: 16580Stella (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Stella - 16580 - Great personality and already trained! These are the two things you think of when you spend some time with super Stella. Her name was written on her collar, along with a phone number that sadly was not readable. She appears to be a mix of black lab and smooth coat border collie. Stella is a smart girl, gets along very well with other dogs, and is easy to walk on a leash. She has a little gray on her muzzle (maybe just white fur), but her teeth are very good, and she appears to be only around three years old. She is a chill dog, and would be such a great pet for someone who does not want to have to train a dog. We do not ... Stella is truly a stellar dog! She is great with all dogs, kids and is totally trained. She is amazingly wonderful. No barking and perfect on a leash. Definitely trained. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-01-00018Bonnie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Bonnie came to us a the beginning of March when I happened to be in the clinic when her owner brought her in for a limp on her hind leg. He stated she had been limping for over a week with it. After the vet examined her he determined that her hip was our of socket and had been for some time and because treatment was not given sooner it would not stay in place on its own. The vet suggested to the client that she have an FHO surgery. Where they remove the ball of the hip and with therapy the muscle and scar tissue builds up and makes the hip function again. Occasional limping may be noticed and if excessive exercise may cause tenderness and ... (Read More)msg need occasional pain medicine from time to time. The owner said he didn't want to have the surgery because of the expense and said he would just need to have her put down. Our vet knew I was in the clinic and stepped out of the room to find me. He asked if the client would agree to sign her over to our rescue would we be willing to take her in. He said she is a very healthy dog and has a very sweet disposition and would be a great candidate for adoption of given the surgery and time to heal. So we said absolutely we will take her. So we did and she had surgery the next week and now two months later has had a remarkable recovery with the help and care of an excellent a foster family. She was released by our vet last week for us to put her up for adoption. Bonnie is a 37 lb- 1- 1 1/2 year old border collie mix. Bonnie is such a pretty girl and has a really sweet temperament. She is great with kids, has done well with the other dogs she has been around. Not sure about cats as the one in her foster home is skitish and Bonnie likes to chase her. She is very loving and likes lots of attention and snuggles. She does have an occasional accident in the house, that is minimal and improving. She loves to chew and loves chew toys and is entertained for hours playing with them. She does pretty well on a leash. She is definitely not aggressive and does not nip. She is smart and eager to learn. She barks when she is excited, but it usually ends fairly quickly. She loves to talk to you when she gets excited. She does well outside, but has not been left out by herself for long periods of time. The only time she has tried to dig was where there was a mole or gopher. If you are interested in in giving Bonnie a fit-ever home please follow the instructions below to submit an application. Our adoption fee for any FGHR DOG IS $200.00.     Hi! My name is Nyah - that means 'purpose'. And my purpose is to learn that humans are OK and find a wonderful home to grow up in. I was born under a house and that's where I lived my whole life until I went to a city shelter. No one was adopting me because I was just so shy. So I was rescued and am living in a foster home to learn all the great things in the world - like love and treats and fun! I LOVE all dogs and when I am with them, I am happy and love to play with toys. So, a home with another dog that likes to run and play would be awesome! And I'm ...     This guy has my respect. I pulled him from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He was very emaciated and had a rear leg with a bone sticking out and broken in several places. Someone had abused him. But Scooter was still happy and loved to be held and his spirits had not been broken. He has been a trooper from day one, never making a sound even though he was in a lot of pain. His leg was so bad; the vet considered amputation but decided to watch the bones heal. He gets along with everyone. He runs and plays with his foster brothers and sisters and he is just a sweet dog. Scooter is 1 1/2 years old now; I got him when he was 2 months old.     This crazy little boy Logan is a special one for me. His mother belonged to a family who could no longer care for them so I fed them and took care of them but they stayed with the family. Then the family tired of them and didn't want them around anymore. I got his mother spayed, his sister spayed and adopted into a wonderful home. When we reached the clinic for his surgery Logan just lost it. He was so afraid; the clinic asks me to bring him back at a later time. Well that trip spooked Logan and he would not let me touch him ever again. He ran to me when I showed up to feed him, he knew the sound of my car and he knew his name. Since ... (Read More)he was not neutered, he traveled the streets to get with any female in heat. I'm sure Logan has several kids out there :) One night Logan was experiencing some pleasure with one of his girlfriends (Ruby, also for adoption) when he was attacked by 2 vicious stray pit bulls who wanted Ruby for themselves. Logan had his testicles pulled right out by those pit bulls. So now Logan had no problem with me touching him and putting him in the car, he needed my help. His surgery went well, just a normal neutering as it turned out. He had some bite wounds on his legs but they healed well. Unfortunately Logan has heartworms and will need to have the 2 day treatment at the vet's office to get rid of them. After than Logan will be heartworm free and available for adoption. We are trying to raise funds for his surgery $400. Please consider donating towards his Heartworm treatment, no amount is too small we would very much appreciate it. You can donate on our website or directly to Callaghan Road Animal Hospital to Roxy's K-9 Rescue/Logan's Heartworm Treatment. (210) 647-1101 And of course if you would like to adopt Logan once his treatment is complete, please email me. Logan would love to have a home of his own so he can be spoiled even more. Logan came into my home as if he had always lived here, he loves some love. He is quiet, plays very well with my personal dogs and he LOVES his bed. I just laugh at him and tell him, he could have been living inside the life of luxury 2 years ago if he hadn't decided against being fixed!!!! I loved his entire family from the time I met them. His mother was extremely sweet and calm and he is just like her. Heartworms in NOT a death sentence, the dogs go on to live, happy, active, healthy lives.     Hi! My name is Arnie. I came to Texas Collie and Sheltie Rescue by way of a shelter. They were told I was a Collie mix and were kind enough to take me in. But, I have to be honest I'm more of a Border Collie mix. Just a young boy of about a year'| full of energy and playfulness. But I am a special boy. I have a hereditary disease called color dilution alopecia. Don't be scared! It just means I have a little bit less hair in some places than I do I do in others. The up side is I am a very friendly guy who loves attention and more importantly tummy rubs! Those are my absolute favorite! Other dogs and humans like me. So no problems ... (Read More)there. I'm also house-trained and crate-trained. And I've been working on learning how to sit. I would love to be the only dog in your family getting all the attention, but if you have an in-house pup I would like that too. I'm available to meet once you fill out an application at www.texascollierescue.org. Give me the chance and I will be your constant and faithful companion! Hope to hear from you soon! Arnie Arnie is a sweet, sweet boy that just wants to be loved and petted. He does have color dilution alopecia which is also called color mutant alopecia. It does not affect all of the hair on his body. It is a hereditary disease of which there is no cure. His hair is sparse in some places on his torso and his head. He is young and full of energy and would need to be kept active. But, he loves attention and probably has had very little of it so far in his young life. Please give this boy a chance. He deserves a loving forever home. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Texas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
