Sweet Jessie is coming back to our rescue. This sweet girl has some anxiety issues with storms and especially thunder. She needs a thunder shirt and Melatonin but the family that adopted her does not want to do those things to help her become more secure during those times. Instead, they want to take her from the home that she has had for almost 2 years and surrender her back to our rescue. Jessie is a good girl but very fearful of dogs bigger than her. She is not crazy about cats. Loves all people. Does well in a crate, is potty trained and loves walking on a leash. She is a good girl. Just doesn't like crazy Texas weather. She is in great ...     Kramer is about 3-4 years old and we think that he is a border collie (mix?). He weighs 55-60 lbs. He LOVES the water. He is able to escape from a crate so is not crated at his foster's house. Kramer is good with other dogs but is food protective around them which is not unusual for a street dog. He will guard his food or treats so needs to be fed alone. He is not protective of food around people. This is an absolutely beautiful dog. The pictures don't really do him justice. Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Banjo: Age:2 yr old; Sex: Male; Weight: 45 lbs; Activity Level: Active Companion/Companion; Border Collie Rough Coat. Introducing Mr Banjo a fun loving Border Collie who enjoys company and fun!! Yes he really likes to have his people time: loves to take walks or a jog, enjoys chasing squirrels in a wooden fenced yard, a quieter home without to much coming or going suits him well! His current foster home loves him to pieces but a little too much activity for Banjo to have the close time he desires. Banjo has found: pack leadership with his foster mom; enjoys going to work at her chiropractic office and visiting with clients; takes long ... (Read More)walks along the river; running fun errands with the immediate family and trips to the dog park occasionally. He would make a great travel companion as new adventures on leash bring him closer to his people as much as he would enjoy an active retried family or an interactive family who liked to enjoy the busy in life time with their 4 legged companion. Banjo is great on a leash, crates nicely, house trained, enjoys some ball and toy play. For Banjo his journey to his forever home would be a home either worked from home or a hearty break during a work day; he could do an apartment or a house just keep the environmental fun stimulating; if children just the 1 child 8 + who wanted that close relationship with their pup would suit him. If you travel and were looking for a hiking buddy Banjo could go faster or slower you show him the speed!! If you're an out of state applicant we want the best possible match and we may want to arrange an in person meeting; application of course; home visit if applicable and Banjo is fully vetted of course his adoption donation is $300. Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Loui landed in animal control just like many of our homeless animals- wondering the streets without a designated owner. He is timid with new people but will warm up once he knows you. He must have been exposed to children in his street life as his tail never stops wagging once he sees a child. He is calm, easy going, and well mannered. He will give an alert bark when he hears unfamiliar noises. His routine consists of hanging outside when his foster mom is gone during the day and then bedding down in his kennel at night. He loves his kennel- almost like he is checking into a hotel for the evening. Loui does well with other dogs- small and ... (Read More)large. He is a good eater and we are trying to get some much needed weight on his body. If you are a patient owner and find gratification in working with shy dogs, Loui is a good candidate. He is also leash trained and loves going for walks. If Loui sounds like a good fit for you, please fill out an application today. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Tucker is a border collie mix around 2 years of age. Tucker was an owner surrender and this was a change for the better. Tucker is a very sweet boy, very shy, but this is nothing that time and a loving home can't fix. Tucker likes to "give paw". Tucker is a bit submissive and plays well with other well-mannered dogs. Tucker can climb fences but that is only because he does not like to be alone - he is a people dog. Tucker needs to be house trained, but is otherwise good in the house. We want Tucker to have a home where he is inside as a loved member of the family. He needs a secure yard with a 6 foot fence where he can run and ... (Read More)play. Tucker weighs 54 pounds. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Tucker is positive with a light load of heartworms. This only requires his regular monthly dose of heartworm preventative to kill the infant larvae, and the adult heartworms will eventually die off. OR we can arrange to get him a prescription for the medication needed for the "soft" heartworm treatment. Tucker has a $75 adoption fee. Please contact Marianne at 2 Many Dogs for an adoption application if you are interested in adopting Tucker.     Jimmie Jimmie is a 3 year old Border Collie mix (maybe). He is a very sweet dog that much prefers being outdoors. We give all of our dogs open access to the house during the day and he chooses to be out in the grass! Jimmie comes in at night, because we want him too, but would much rather be free out in the big yard! Kennels are not good for Jimmie because they are just too confining! Jimmy likes everyone he has met so far and gets along well with most dogs and cats.

Sydney is a sweet, loveable 55-pound tricolor Border Collie mix female who finds herself in the precarious predicament of needing a new home. She is currently residing at the vet clinic where she has been a patient since she was a puppy, and she is a staff favorite. Her owner often left her in the yard alone, and if a thunderstorm would strike, she would manage to escape and always come directly to the vet clinic. She must've known where she could find love and comfort because she would wait patiently at the back door until someone would come out. Because of Sydney's mild thunderstorm anxiety, she was surrendered to the vet clinic by her ... (Read More)owner even though she does well in a crate when she is inside alone. (Poor Sydney only gets anxious if she is OUTSIDE ALONE during a thunderstorm.) Sydney needs to be in a loving home where she will receive lots of attention and have lots of human interaction. She is too sweet and sociable a dog to be left outside all the time -- and certainly not during storms! Sydney was born in December 2006, and even though she is an older gal, she is in perfect health. The vet clinic ran a blood panel, and all of her functions came back perfectly within normal parameters. Sydney still has lots of spunk in her happy self, and she is ready to find a new human companion of her very own with whom she can share a semi-active lifestyle. Sydney is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Her adoption fee is $150, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Sydney, and we can arrange for you to meet her. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-17-00084Chip (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Meet Chip! He is an 8 year old Border Collie mix who is great with kids, cats, & other dogs. Four years ago he was rescued from an organization that got in over their head and was forced to give up the animals. He was adopted and has been living in a home for the last four years and now he sadly finds himself in need of a new home because of changes in his current home beyond his control. He will warm up quickly to women and children but takes a little longer with men. You'd think as a Border Collie mix, he'd be pretty high energy, but the opposite is true. Chip is a laid back dude who appreciates a quality nap or an afternoon curled up ... (Read More)on the couch watching the Food Network. Chip loves his family and being around other animals-whether sniffing noses at the dog park or hanging out with the feline persuasion, he's in his element. He's not much for a game of fetch but will follow you around the house and yard from dusk 'til dawn. He really enjoys going for walks. He does have storm anxiety and will benefit from a home that is patient and understanding of sensitive dogs. He likes to ride storms out by smooshing beside you on the couch with his face hidden under a blanket! Fun Facts About Chip: He is just as excited to see you after 5 minutes as he is after 5 hours! He's never met a treat he didn't like. He will keep one eye on you at all times: walking downstairs-check! Going to the bathroom-check! Taking out the trash-check! You'd think he was in a dead sleep until you leave the room, then he's hot on your trail! Favorite places to be scratched: armpits and tummy He prefers a home with calmer dogs, dominant/pushy dogs may make him anxious but he won't do anything or cause any trouble with dogs of any type. He is very much a house dog now and would probably benefit from a doggy companion. He's not dominant and gets along well with everyone. He was previously in a foster home with a 6 year old daughter that liked to dress him up and decorate him with stickers and he goes along with it like it's his job! Chip is in a home in San Antonio, TX. Transportation in TX and to nearby states is an option. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and will be brought current on everything by a sponsor before adoption; vaccines, heartworm test and fecal. These pictures are a mixture of current and 4 years ago. He is still a gorgeous fluffy guy, just a little white in his muzzle now. Are you the gentle, loving home this boy can call his furever? (Less)

Hi everyone! I'm Buddy and I'm a 5.5 year old Aussie/Border being fostered in Waco, TX. I have a beautiful, long blue Merle coat and a large swishy tail, with deep chestnut eyes. I am a full-standard size, weighing a healthy weight of 52 lbs. I have a very special story. For the first 5 years of my life, I was adored and loved on by my owner. But by no fault of my own, my owner had to make the choice between living on the streets with me again or giving me a better life. He chose to give me up, and here were his parting words: 'I'm crying as I write this. Buddy is my best friend. He's been there through all the hard times, and he saved my ... (Read More)life. The least I can do is save his.' As you can probably guess, I have been spoiled my whole life and would love it if someone took me home to keep the trend going! I am a very low maintenance guy who just wants to lay on the couch and cuddle. I am an extremely loyal, velcro-dog and will follow you everywhere. I do have a bad habit of pawing too much for attention, but I am working hard to only paw every now and then. I also have a habit of dashing out the door when it is opened, but am working on sitting and waiting before I am allowed to go out. Even if I run out, I come immediately back once you call my name! I just like to explore. Because of this, I am required to have a fenced yard. I am trained to sit and shake, and am working on down and wait. I am completely housebroken and know the 'crate' command - it is my safe place! I absolutely cannot be around cats (no exceptions). I tolerate children, but I prefer a quiet household and that is where I would thrive best. I love other dogs and enjoy their company as long as they are not too wild. I am more interested in people than dogs (dogs can't pet me!). I would be just fine as an only dog where I can get all of the attention that I deserve. I need an owner that understands my needs and would be with me for most of the day, as well as be willing to work with me. If you think I would be a good fit for your home and would like to meet with me, please send in an inquiry to talk to my foster mom! (Less)

Hi! I'm Mae West and this is my story. Someone left me in an abandoned house with my puppies and when we were found, we went in a truck to the city shelter so we wouldn't be alone. After my puppies grew bigger and were adopted, there I sat. Waiting for someone to notice me. And a rescue group did! They put me into a boarding facility so I could get all the attention and medical care I needed - I got a wonderful bath, was tested for heartworm - I'm negative!, was spayed, got all of my vaccinations to be healthy and got a microchip. I am still a little shy as I'm not sure yet what is going on, but I am starting to smile and wag my tail ... Drew is looking for an experienced dog person who understands the sensitivities of the Border Collie and may not be suitable for off leash; lots of room to run and play; 6 foot Wooden Fence; human break during a work day. He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience so he can play with them and give those amazing kisses! Drew would do great in a home that can further his understanding of the world, create fun games when playing outside, enjoy taking 'working' walks/hills walks-hikes (away from sidewalk and using tricks) and his settle for the day will rise and shine. I do feel he would benefit from another dog from in the home that would be his activity level and enjoy fun BC/Aussie play and or another close knit group of dog friends he can enjoy weekly play time with; he would do well with a BC experienced school age child, crates nicely with a break during a work day, a 6 foot fence is required, and follow his diet as his colon is super sensitive and all of his training/diet have been laid out for the next journey in his life!     Bonnie is a 37 lb- 1- 1 1/2 year old Brittany Spaniel /Border Collie mix. Bonnie is such a pretty girl and has a really sweet temperament. She is great with kids, has done well with the other dogs she has been around. Not sure about cats as the one in her foster home is skitish and Bonnie likes to chase her. She is very loving and likes lots of attention and snuggles. She does have an occasional accident in the house, that is minimal and improving. She loves to chew and loves chew toys and is entertained for hours playing with them. She does pretty well on a leash. She is definitely not aggressive and does not nip. She is smart and eager to ... (Read More)learn. She barks when she is excited, but it usually ends fairly quickly. She loves to talk to you when she gets excited. She does well outside, but has not been left out by herself for long periods of time. The only time she has tried to dig was where there was a mole or gopher. If you are interested in in giving Bonnie a fit-ever home please follow the instructions below to submit an application. Bonnie came to us a the beginning of March when I happened to be in the clinic when her owner brought her in for a limp on her hind leg. He stated she had been limping for over a week with it. After the vet examined her he determined that her hip was our of socket and had been for some time and because treatment was not given sooner it would not stay in place on its own. The vet suggested to the client that she have an FHO surgery. Where they remove the ball of the hip and with therapy the muscle and scar tissue builds up and makes the hip function again. Occasional limping may be noticed and if excessive exercise may cause tenderness and msg need occasional pain medicine from time to time. The owner said he didn't want to have the surgery because of the expense and said he would just need to have her put down. Our vet knew I was in the clinic and stepped out of the room to find me. He asked if the client would agree to sign her over to our rescue would we be willing to take her in. He said she is a very healthy dog and has a very sweet disposition and would be a great candidate for adoption of given the surgery and time to heal. So we said absolutely we will take her. So we did and she had surgery the next week and now two months later has had a remarkable recovery with the help and care of an excellent a foster family. She has been released by our vet for us to put her up for adoption. Our adoption fee for any FGHR DOG IS $200.00. To ADOPT you will need to go to our website @ www.furgivingheartsrescue.com Go to the FORMS page of the website and click on the button to download the application adoption.     Hi! My name is Nyah - that means 'purpose'. And my purpose is to learn that humans are OK and find a wonderful home to grow up in. I was born under a house and that's where I lived my whole life until I went to a city shelter. No one was adopting me because I was just so shy. She is also in a home with a 4 year old girl. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*See Foxy's video!* Foxy is a sweet 2 year old Chow x Border Collie mix who was dumped on the mean streets of Houston's South Side. She ended up with a raging case of sarcoptic mange and heartworms. We rescued her, treated both conditions, and found that she is the absolute sweetest dog! She is house trained, spayed, and microchipped. She is a quiet yet watchful little dog. Weighs about 40 lbs and shouldn't get much bigger. She is a long haired dog, her fur fell out when she got sarcoptic mange but it is long and flowy now!! She has a beautiful black brindle coat. She is a dainty girl and loves cuddles. She is still learning the ... (Read More)leash and loves quiet time in her crate with a femur bone or nylabone. She is quite a low-maintenance dog. She seems truly grateful to have been rescued. Foxy seems to be getting more trusting and loving and is super affectionate. She is progressing nicely. No kitties for Foxy, please! Foxy has long fur (longer than the photo here) and does need daily brushing. For foster or adoption info, please apply online today https://fs22.formsite.com/SSSD/form2/index.html THANK YOU! (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Arnie. I came to Texas Collie and Sheltie Rescue by way of a shelter. They were told I was a Collie mix and were kind enough to take me in. But, I have to be honest I'm more of a Border Collie mix. Just a young boy of about a year'| full of energy and playfulness. But I am a special boy. I have a hereditary disease called color dilution alopecia. Don't be scared! It just means I have a little bit less hair in some places than I do I do in others. The up side is I am a very friendly guy who loves attention and more importantly tummy rubs! Those are my absolute favorite! Other dogs and humans like me. So no problems ... (Read More)there. I'm also house-trained and crate-trained. And I've been working on learning how to sit. I would love to be the only dog in your family getting all the attention, but if you have an in-house pup I would like that too. I'm available to meet once you fill out an application at www.texascollierescue.org. Give me the chance and I will be your constant and faithful companion! Hope to hear from you soon! Arnie Arnie is a sweet, sweet boy that just wants to be loved and petted. He does have color dilution alopecia which is also called color mutant alopecia. It does not affect all of the hair on his body. It is a hereditary disease of which there is no cure. His hair is sparse in some places on his torso and his head. He is young and full of energy and would need to be kept active. But, he loves attention and probably has had very little of it so far in his young life. Please give this boy a chance. He deserves a loving forever home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-12-00321Brie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Texas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
