Rescue Me ID: 17-09-19-00028Ellie (female)

Border Collie    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ellie: 9 years young; Sex: Female; Weight: 43 lbs (goal is 35 ish); Activity Level: Companion; Breed: Border Collie Lavender Back and White.%A0 Ellie is back and really ready for adoption this time around being fostered with her rescuer learning more, as her adoption wasn't a good fit for all parties nothing she did that made this decision in fact all the grandkids loved her.%A0 All we knew about Ellie is that she was left behind in a barn during an estate sale showing she had been bred quite a bit, had a lot of trouble moving around and walking her back end had sat in a U shape for who knows how long in that barn.%A0 She is still gaining ... (Read More)confidence as her own dog inside the home and on walks on the property as well as leash walks.%A0 Ellie loves it when I am outside reading a book as she can come over and nudge me all day long for pets and knows she can also have a place next to me or sit in the grass with a calm command.%A0 She rides nicely in the car is not nervous at the vet and enjoys the dog beds in my home and the safety of her crate.%A0 She can still be anxious inside uncertain which way to the door or if OK to drink from water bowl.%A0 In my open floor plan I use baby gates for engaging boundaries for Ellie to be loose in with me or if I am very busy inside she uses her crate as a safe den and for rain or fireworks.%A0 Ellie is doing some training work to move forward from past experiences that can be easily transferred to her new home.%A0 When you meet Ellie you might ask what happened why does she have arthritis in her hips and knees and can't enjoy the couch like my other dogs?%A0 Well no one cared to walk her in her former home and she didn't get adequate exercise in her previous adoptive home but she loves the leash and will walk about a mile a day using a joint supplement, fish oils and a heated Tumeric recipe for her arthritis as she does much better than on medications.%A0 A perfect home for her would be: an active retired person, someone who works from home; or a dog walker work day home; a home who is familiar with a strong willed dog who needs to use her manners and listen to her human boss and continue to learn what she missed out on as a younger dog!!%A0 A small properly fenced yard (6 feet) would suit her fine, an active dog in the home who respects Ellie's boundaries she would enjoy as she really can run with engaging stimulation, she is excited about cats but will stop with 'cookie' command, she does fine with children and will allow hugs and pets but won't be the type of dog that comes running to children however if it is too busy in the home she does fine in her crate.%A0 All adoptions require application process, meet and greets and home visit to ensure the fit is perfect.%A0 Ellie's adoption donation is $150 for seniors that need that special home.%A0 If you are out of state please come visit with Ellie in her foster home (no transportations). Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Dash is absolutely beautiful!!! And much smaller then this pic makes him look. He is just petrified in the shelter, stays glued to the ground. He is very sweet but so scared he peed on himself when I touched him. I carried him outside and he loved it! He gives the softest, sweetest kisses and by the time we were done he was rolling over and trying to play with me. Dash is very submissive, gentle, friendly and sweet. Don't let his shyness keep you from spending time with him, I promise he is worth it!!! Within out time out I was getting some snuggles and smiles!!

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

This is Cutie. He was brought to the shelter with a broken leg. It is on the mend and he doesn't let it hold him back. He can even manage stairs! He is currently in a foster home and pretty much knows the ropes of home life. He is currently living with 3 cats and 8 other dogs and does well. One of the dogs is a little too playful and he will do a quick growl to tell her to back away, but that is the only thing aggressive thing that he has done. He loves being around humans, both adults and kids alike. He is playful, but also can lay down and cuddle as well. He would be ideal for most home environments.

ADOPT ME Courtesy Post ROSIE 1-2 years old 53 lb Boxer Mix- LOVES other dogs. Playful Couch Potato My foster mom and dad call me Rosie, and while I'm still getting used to my name, you can never call me 'late' for dinner! I am a lab mix, and the vet said she thought maybe Boxer, but all I know is that I'm smart, cute, and fun to be with. I weigh about 53 pounds, and probably fully grown. I'm heartworm negative, and on prevention; up to date on all of my vaccines, spayed, house trained, and very obedient. At my foster home, I have two sisters, and two brothers. My 'big' sister is almost as big as me, (she's a Boxer-mix too) and we play ... (Read More)when we're outside. We love to I chase each other around our big, fenced-in yard. The other pups in the house are Cocker Spaniels, and I play nice with all of them. I was curious about the cats at the vet's office, but I didn't try to get them. I don't dig, and I don't climb - I will stay in my yard. I'm also a good watch dog. I am a little protective of my food, possibly from my time as a stray. I 'showed up' at my foster home one evening, and I did my best 'good dog' impression to get a meal. I kept hanging out in the road, waiting for my previous family to come get me, when my foster parents decided that I would be safer inside the fence. I have not been around children, in my foster, home, so we're not sure how I would be, but their best guess is that I would do just fine. I'm very sweet, I don't jump up on people, and I love to give kisses. I sit and stay while my dad puts my food bowl on the floor, and I will sit at the door, or at the gate, while on-leash, and wait for you to invite me through. When I'm not playing, I like to curl up next to you on the couch, or lay near you on the floor. Questions? Contact Julia at Juliawithclasp@gmail.com ADOPTION FEE $150.00 Rosie is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, dewormed and microchipped. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Low Energy, Submissive

This handsome fellow appeared next to my van as I was about to leave a Walmart parking lot. He was panting from being on the hot pavement, I could count all of his ribs, and he had no collar. He was standing next to my driver side door as if he was waiting for me to come out of the store. I don't know how long he had been there waiting. No one else was around just a lot of cars. He had this wise look in his eye when he looked at me as if he knew which car to stand beside. Looking at his teeth I can see that he is very young as in maybe under a year. But he has a very old soul. His disposition is very gentle and calm and quiet. His black and ... (Read More)white coat is striking and his eyes are very deep and soulful. He needs a loving foster home as soon as possible! He is in the Dallas area. Please text 615-540-8448 if you can help this sweet boy! (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It pains us to do this, but we are no longer able to properly care for our lovable and esteemed General Tso. He's such a sweet dog and has an un-ending love for all people. And peanut butter. And pillows. And leftovers. And snuggles on the couch. And paper plates. And babies, especially 'dirty' ones. He's perfect for a family that has a lot of open space (which we are lacking - so he sometimes gets out and runs for a few hours then comes home) and time to provide him with the love and care that he deserves. We hope he could make a great addition to your family! General Tso is around 4-4.5 years old, up to date on vet visits, vaccines, and ... (Read More)heart worm prevention. He is neutered. Around 55 lb, lean and lanky. Very handsome %9D%A4. House trained and leash trained. Kid-friendly (references available!). Follows commands to sit and wait. Microchipped. Has spent minimal time around other dogs, okay with some. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Emily was found in a box in the park with her siblings at just a few weeks old. She is shy at first but once she is comfortable she is a playful active puppy! Our best guess of breed is Border Collie/Lab mix maybe with some Catahoula mixed in. She should be medium to large sized full grown. The adoption fee is $150.00. An adoption application, home visit and adoption contract are all required. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age, microchipped, and wormed for internal and external parasites. If you would like more information or an adoption application, please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. ... (Read More)Please note that visual breed identification in rescue dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only GUESSING at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

My name is Lola. I kind of had a rough start. My first home was an apartment & I was never taken out to exercise or to do my business. While the next man was really nice, he was old and did not have the energy nor strength to exercise & care for me. His family found a great family to care for me. They really loved me & worked with me to be all that I could be. I am house & crate trained. I love to go on fast walks. I can even be a running partner. I can chase and retrieve balls all day long! I do not destroy my family's things. I, also, love to cuddle and take naps while my family watches T.V. or read. I am trim and athletic and would ... (Read More)love an active lifestyle. I tend to be a bit of an 'alpha'. My family is away much of the day, so I get lonely. the family has a senior smaller dog. Sometimes, I want to show him I am number 1. That is not a good thing, I think. I have been with a trainer who thinks I am a great dog that would do best in a single dog family so I can be free to be all I am meant to be. I am loyal and affectionate & will be a great companion to a single person or a whole family. My current family wants the best for me. They would love for me to have an active family that would love me like they love me. I probably do best where I am the only pet. (I do not know if I am a 'Belgian Shepherd', but I do have a shepherd's body. I am sleek & fast & smart.) (Less)

Will herd anything and everything- best home would be on some land with a job she can be trained to do. Very easily trained. We do not have her papers, though both of her parents are cattle herders in Oklahoma.Good with cats and most dogs, great at the dog park, though she would rather herd her people and playmates instead of running. She loves to fetch and be near her people. No fee to GOOD home that will spend plenty of time loving her and training her to do tasks. If interested please text.

Meet Major, a vivacious, spirited ball of fluff. This silly guy does a cute play bow followed quickly by a zoom around the yard when he wants to play with his human. He can be very cat-like when he wants attention, preferring to rub his head all over your legs. Major is dreaming of finding his forever home, complete with a spacious and secure backyard for him to run around. While he'd love to find a human that loves to be just as active as him, he is also skilled in the art of 'self-fetch' by tossing his toys up into the air and catching them with gusto. This smart and treat-motivated pup is the perfect companion for agility training, ... (Read More)puzzle toys and games. Major will delight his new family with all kinds of tricks and commands, which you'll get to know in pre-adoption training provided by APA. Major is an excellent leash walker and gives great eye contact; he is always ready to listen and learn. Open your heart and home to this smarty-pants and get ready to fall in love with Major's adorable ears, and his charming quirkiness and zest for life He is about 72 pounds and can be left home alone. He would do best in a home where he is the only baby. Not good with cats or other dogs. Good with his human but not good with small kids. Children over a certain age are fine as he loves to play.     Olive is a friendly little tumbleweed who blew in all the way from the high plains of Lubbock, where she was found by the side of the road and taken in by some good-hearted college students. She's tumbled along to a couple places along the way, but now she's looking for a permanent home. Olive loves kids, belly rubs, a soft bed, and a nice walk. She's not always fond of other dogs (at least not female dogs), so she should probably be the only one in the home, and cats don't seem to like her for some reason, though she seems curious toward them. Olive will lie quietly in her crate if you want her to, but she'd rather sleep in some family ... (Read More)member's bed with them.     'ۢ We have LOTS of precious fur babies available for adoption, please come meet them at the Addison PetSmart - 3800 Belt Line, Addison, TX 75001 - every Saturday and Sunday from 1-6. Our adoption fees include a grooming with nail trim - all vaccines - deworming - a complete health check - a HW test if old enough - microchip - rabies - spay/neuter - and a PetSmart adoption starter kit that includes $5 off a six-month supply of HW preventative - a free %BD-hour private training session with a PetSmart accredited pet trainer - a free bag of food - a free doggie day camp session - a free overnight stay in a PetSmart PetsHotel - a free vet ... (Read More)exam at Banfield - grooming coupons - over $400 of coupons/savings - and MUCH MORE! We have a two-step adoption process. First, you submit an application, which is presented to our Board for approval or rejection. If approved, a home check is done, and if that passes - you adopt which includes a 1-week trial period, if - for any reason during that first week, the adoption is not working out, you can return the dog for a full refund of your adoption fee. ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))PS - WE NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR ANIMALS! Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals r being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until it is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If u cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If u want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to virtually foster. If you genuinely cannot adopt or foster, there are still other ways to help. Sponsor an adoption or medical treatment. Volunteer your time - drive for transports, rescue groups always need dogs transported from one place to the next. Donate money, our rescue is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Educate - spread the word about the need for fosters. Sign up for notifications from your local rescue group or shelter, and share the animals in need on social media, there are so many ways to help - thank you, please share this post (Less)

He is still learning about strangers and how they should approach him for the best positive experience. He is not suitable for cats and children/grandchildren as he is scared of people with fast movements and can fear bark it's just not a fit for him. The only maintenance would be brushing and bathing occasionally. Nails do not need cutting. I do need exercise and large yard to play in. I love open spaces to run. Although I'm leery of new situations and people till I get use to them, I adapt quite easily. I'm good with kids, and love playing ball. I've had her for 2 months now and she is a real sweetheart. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Pancho has a sponsored adoption fee so his fee is now only $50!! What a great deal on a great dog!! Pancho (ID14763) Pancho is almost 3 years old and about 55 lbs. He is up to date with all his vaccines and vet visits. Pancho has always been very shy and scared when meeting new people; it took him a good week to get used to me and to his new home, but after that, he has been nothing but gentle and playful. Pancho is very smart, he can sit, shake, lay down and somewhat roll if we are in luck, he also knows to stay (not for too long though) and is very gentle when receiving his treats. Pancho has a lot of energy, he really enjoys being ... (Read More)outside and playing. He does tend to pull when on a leash but is much better know than he was a couple years ago. He does need exercise regularly, the more the better. Pancho sleeps on his own pillow in the hallway and knows that is his spot, but he sometimes likes to sneak into the room in the middle of the night and lay on the floor at the foot or side of the bed, he is a good roommate. He is currently not allowed on furniture and respects that very well. Pancho is great with kids, playful but gentle. He does tend to get very excited when somebody comes in, but always with joy and energy. We recommend no kids under 10. He gets along great with other dogs, wanting to play all the time. His two weaknesses are squirrels and cats. he definitely still needs to learn how to control his excitement around them, so I would recommend a cat free environment for him. Pancho appears to be a border collie/lab mix. Contact foster Mom Michelle at mssquared@hotmail.com for more information! (Less)

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Texas
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
