Rocky was a dog that was kept outside all the time....he never got to go indoors, take walks, or leave his yard. When he escaped one day and was hit by a car, his family did not have the means to get him to a vet. Another rescue stepped in and paid for his surgery, and then fully vetted him!     This is MAX-ABLE. He is one of the Used Car Lot Dogs that is being left behind. He will be taken to the shelter by the owner of the lot on June 2nd. We just had him neutered and UTD on Shots. He is GORGEOUS. They originally rescued him- he used to be skin and bones and hairless. Look at him now! 1.5 yrs old. He seems to get along and play with the female dog in the same yard. Licks the people standing at the bus-stop. This is breaking my heart. Neighbors have called BARC, SPCA and HHS to report, even though he has food, water and shelter- allbeit, very minimum care by these people. Help Me SAVE his LIFE. I will loan a crate!! ...     Rio is a super young 'rescue' dog - Lab / Collie mix. When we first brought him home he was very shy and timid and must have had a pretty rough time of things. Now he is very bright and full of energy and getting more confident every day. He is very smart, knows all basic commands, uses his bell on the door when he wants to go out and is a happy dog. Sadly, due to a change in work circumstances we can no longer give him the time and attention he loves and deserves so we are looking for someone who will care for him and spend time with him.

Rowdy was rescued from the shelter 4-5 years ago. He has had a great home and been very well taken care of. His owners health is deteriorating and they're having to move to an assisted living facility. They have Rowdy and Taffy, pyrennes mix. Rowdy is 4-5 yrs old and has been micro-chipped. He loves to play and chase balls. He loves to eat. Likes children and people. But good guard dog when anyone comes by home. Likes to ride on the golf cart. Outside dog but loves the inside. Seems to be housebroke the few times he comes in during inclement weather. His bad point is he will run off briefly and visit neighbors when gate is ... (Read More)unattended. Most of the time he always returns by himself but I seldom give him that much time. I always go get him in the car and he enjoys riding in it. Preferably a home with some room to run and play is needed to Rowdy - this is what he is used to along with coming inside during bad weather. If you are interested in meeting Rowdy call Patricia 817/596-9595. 817/304-0122 cell. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-17-00004Shep (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Shep Sex: Male 1 yr; Activity Level: Active Companion/Companion; Border Collie/Aussie Mix; Coat: Bi B/W Split Face Rough Coat; Weight: 45 lbs. Update: Although Shep is still in need of some vetting and rehab, he is ready for adoption following a successful meet-and-greet with prospective home visit. Shep has a congenital hip abnormality on one side only that has led to undeveloped muscle. THE GOOD NEWS is that it is correctable with surgery and ongoing diet and exercise regimen. Help and support is available to his adoptive family as he can return to the rescue home for surgery care and to get him on his feet with a steady at home plan. ... (Read More)Anyone who would like to HELP fund Shep's surgery, roughly $1000: https://www.youcaring.com/shepherd-aussie-mix-boy-556064 MORE ABOUT SHEP. He's truly a beautiful soul who never deserved being a stray on Houston's streets. He has a great Aussie attitude and Aussie hugs. He'll try to be your best lap-dog! Despite his bum hip, he loves walks through city neighborhoods, trails and hills (this is especially important for him to build muscle in those hips!). He walks nicely on a leash enjoying this as part of his daily routine. Like all intelligent dogs he enjoys learning tricks and general obedience and good doggie manners. He has great willingness to please so he's a quick learner. Shep loves to play fetch and tug, with other dogs as well. Relaxing at home, Shep enjoys his crate and being near his people with direction but sometimes prefers the bedroom floor after a long day. Car rides are still new to him but he's getting better settle when asked with each ride. Like many active herding breeds, he can get a little overwhelmed with too much stimulation at once. Shep needs a home with no more than 2 children at least age 6 and should avoid BUSY dog parks and chaotic obedience classes like those in pet stores just takes away from the relaxing fun with Shep. He is OK with dog savvy cats and would enjoy the company of children 9 and up that really want to connect with their dog. He would do well with another confident dog about his size or a consistent group of doggie play/walking buddies about his size. Shep would be best placed with an active, hands-on person who longs to totally connect with their canine buddy and include them in their life, may do best with a break during a longer work day. Shep is NOT an apartment dog and will need a good sized yard with a secure wooden fence. Shep's adoption donation is $300, he is fully vaccinated and microchipped on heart worm/flea protection. Please tell us a little bit about yourself and complete the application, a home visit where applicable. We WOULD LOVE to see Shep in his prospective forever home. Drivable distance is preferred and if out of state you must come to Texas for the meet and greet (Less)

Animal ID: 0600Rowdie (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rowdie is a larger male Border Collie/Aussie x, about 40 lb. He is extremely sweet and loving. He's very affectionate and likes to give lots of kisses. He appears to take to young men in particular, but loves everyone and will follow his 'person' everywhere. He really enjoys spending time with his pack and likes being surrounded with people. He gets along well with other dogs, as well, but may play a bit too rough for smaller, more fragile breeds. Rowdie is very intelligent and likes to play fetch. He would make a good Frisbee dog. He doesn't mind being crated and is housebroken. While he strives to be alpha, he squats to pee and has not ... (Read More)learned to lift his leg. Please note, Rowdie, like most Aussies is high energy and needs a job to do. If he's not kept busy or left alone (even for a few minutes), he can become destructive, such as chewing on plants or tearing at greenery. If there are other dogs in the home, please be aware that Rowdie guards his food and should be fed separate from other dogs. He has food aggression in general that needs to be worked out. Rowdie also needs some training to prevent 'counter-surfing,' although he hasn't shown interest in other poor kitchen behavior, like getting into the trash. Rowdie needs some guidance, but will do well with a high energy family, preferable without other dogs. If you would like to make Rowdie part of your family, please fill out our adoption application. https://form.jotform.com/60815119286155 Adoption fee is $325 and all fees are used for future rescue effort (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-30-00006Ellie (female)

Border Collie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Ellie! Female, B/W Border Collie; 8 yrs young; Activity Level: Companion, Weight: 34 lbs. Despite some arthritis in her hips and knees, Ellie is healthy and relatively active and not living with pain. Ellie longs to leave behind her old life of being forced to make puppies in a barn where she was eventually abandoned in El Campo. That joyless life never taught her the essential doggie skills of playing, chasing squirrels, or cuddling on the couch - all things she is learning to embrace in the foster family she shares with 2 active Border Collies, 1 cat and an older child. She is a very smart, sweet girl who hardly ever makes a ... (Read More)sound; loves naps in her crate or a quiet corner. For as quiet as she is, Ellie gets very excited and silly around mealtime. She loves her food but no biting or snarling and she is learning more patience (you're not in the barn anymore, Ellie!) She enjoys walks, 1/2 mile or so, and is getting pretty good on the leash - no pulling! Her ideal forever home would be in a warmer climate like Texas to help her joints stay pain-free. Although Ellie is fine for hours alone during the day, she would do great with a work-at-home owner. She's great with 1 or 2 children but older (10+) and mature/nurturing children are best. She's not into intensive play nor has interest in dog toys. Ellie would do great in an apartment/condo with patio or house with a fenced yard; perfect for lounging in the grass and chasing the occasional squirrel. She doesn't require a large yard but does need her walks as regular exercise is essential for Ellie. Other dogs are ok provided they respect her disinterest in active play. A dog-savvy cat is ok too. Given proper exercise, diet and supplements Ellie will be a beautiful sweet companion to some lucky person for years to come. Take a look at her videos and photos. Ellie is fully vetted and micro-chipped. Her adoption donation is $300. There is an application to adopt and home visit may be required. (Less)

Hi! My name is Nyah - that means 'purpose'. And my purpose is to learn that humans are OK and find a wonderful home to grow up in. I was born under a house and that's where I lived my whole life until I went to a city shelter. No one was adopting me because I was just so shy. I wanted to go home but I didn't know how to tell the people that looked at me. So I was rescued and am living in a foster home to learn all the great things in the world - like love and treats and fun! I LOVE all dogs and when I am with them, I am happy and love to play with toys. So, a home with another dog that likes to run and play would be awesome! And I'm ... (Read More)figuring out that I like kids too! They say I am a 10-month old lab/border collie mix, have been fully-vetted and am microchipped. If you would love to see me blossom into the dog I was always meant to be, please contact my rescue group to meet me. Once I trust you, you will have my whole heart - forever!     Special likes toys and is very well-mannered. She is a little slow to warm up to people, especially to men/boys (her foster family is working with her on this), but she is very loyal. She would make a perfect companion for a single lady. She is great with other dogs and is doing well with house training in her foster home. She has been in the shelter/in foster since 6/20/2015.

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This guy has my respect. I pulled him from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He was very emaciated and had a rear leg with a bone sticking out and broken in several places. Someone had abused him. But Scooter was still happy and loved to be held and his spirits had not been broken. He has been a trooper from day one, never making a sound even though he was in a lot of pain. His leg was so bad; the vet considered amputation but decided to watch the bones heal. And heal they did until he grew. Scooter now needs to have that back leg amputated before his adoption. His complete medical records and x-rays will come with him at the ... (Read More)time of adoption. Someone else named him early on but his name Scooter so deserves, he is a SCOOTER. He only barks when he is talking to you. He bounces around still like a puppy and just a very happy guy. He gets along with everyone. He runs and plays with his foster brothers and sisters and he is just a sweet dog. Scooter is 1 years old now; I got him when he was 2 months old. He weighs 47 pounds and has reached his adult height & weight. He has a beautiful black wavy coat and he does not shed. His best friend is Bradley, a bigger white border collie who only has 3 legs. Bradley was hit by a car but when he came to my house and Scooter was so small, Bradley treated Scooter as if he were his child. He cleaned him, cuddled with him and just watched over him like a mother would. It would be nice if they could go to a home together because Bradley is completely deaf and Scooter is his ears. Bradley is extremely friendly, loves to play, chases the ball and gets along with everyone. He loves his toys and belly rubs, Bradley is very gentle. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

This crazy little boy Logan is a special one for me. His mother belonged to a family who could no longer care for them so I fed them and took care of them but they stayed with the family. Then the family tired of them and didn't want them around anymore. I got his mother spayed, his sister spayed and adopted into a wonderful home. When we reached the clinic for his surgery Logan just lost it. He was so afraid; the clinic asks me to bring him back at a later time. Well that trip spooked Logan and he would not let me touch him ever again. He ran to me when I showed up to feed him, he knew the sound of my car and he knew his name. Since ... (Read More)he was not neutered, he traveled the streets to get with any female in heat. I'm sure Logan has several kids out there :) One night Logan was experiencing some pleasure with one of his girlfriends (Ruby, also for adoption) when he was attacked by 2 vicious stray pit bulls who wanted Ruby for themselves. Logan had his testicles pulled right out by those pit bulls. So now Logan had no problem with me touching him and putting him in the car, he needed my help. His surgery went well, just a normal neutering as it turned out. He had some bite wounds on his legs but they healed well. Unfortunately Logan has heartworms and will need to have the 2 day treatment at the vet's office to get rid of them. After than Logan will be heartworm free and available for adoption. We are trying to raise funds for his surgery $400. Please consider donating towards his Heartworm treatment, no amount is too small we would very much appreciate it. You can donate on our website or directly to Callaghan Road Animal Hospital to Roxy's K-9 Rescue/Logan's Heartworm Treatment. (210) 647-1101 And of course if you would like to adopt Logan once his treatment is complete, please email me. Logan would love to have a home of his own so he can be spoiled even more. Logan came into my home as if he had always lived here, he loves some love. He is quiet, plays very well with my personal dogs and he LOVES his bed. I just laugh at him and tell him, he could have been living inside the life of luxury 2 years ago if he hadn't decided against being fixed!!!! I loved his entire family from the time I met them. His mother was extremely sweet and calm and he is just like her. Heartworms in NOT a death sentence, the dogs go on to live, happy, active, healthy lives. She is still learning the ... (Read More)leash and loves quiet time in her crate with a femur bone or nylabone. She is quite a low-maintenance dog. She seems truly grateful to have been rescued.     Hi! My name is Arnie. I came to Texas Collie and Sheltie Rescue by way of a shelter. They were told I was a Collie mix and were kind enough to take me in. But, I have to be honest I'm more of a Border Collie mix. Just a young boy of about a year'| full of energy and playfulness. But I am a special boy. I have a hereditary disease called color dilution alopecia. Don't be scared! It just means I have a little bit less hair in some places than I do I do in others. The up side is I am a very friendly guy who loves attention and more importantly tummy rubs! Those are my absolute favorite! Other dogs and humans like me. So no problems ... (Read More)there. I'm also house-trained and crate-trained. And I've been working on learning how to sit. I'm available to meet once you fill out an application at www.texascollierescue.org. Give me the chance and I will be your constant and faithful companion! Hope to hear from you soon! Arnie Arnie is a sweet, sweet boy that just wants to be loved and petted. He does have color dilution alopecia which is also called color mutant alopecia. It does not affect all of the hair on his body. It is a hereditary disease of which there is no cure. His hair is sparse in some places on his torso and his head. He is young and full of energy and would need to be kept active. But, he loves attention and probably has had very little of it so far in his young life. Please give this boy a chance. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-12-00321Brie (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE HIGH ENERGY DOG INQUIRE WITHIN Weight 25 lbs. Were you looking for a 21 month old pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in ... (Read More)the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it's mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is 'done'. It's all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was 'coming at us' then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it's important for her to have this but if it's too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it's coming 'at her', progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie's adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reactio (Less)

Leash trained in scenic social human and pup neighborhoods; historic areas of Houston for stimulation within a city; walking trails and bike trails; mini hike in areas that are socially oriented but also very peaceful; running errands with me and carpooling with another dog learning patience in the car and wait for the one on one lessons; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reaction; using the curious nature to enjoy all the smells at pet store and feel positive at the vets office.****** (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-10-00744Drew (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED FOR THIS HIGH ENERGY BOY INQUIRE WITHIN Drew:21 Months Weight: 42 lbs. Are you an on the go thinker looking for a highly trainable life lover pup to share your world with? This cuddly boy is Drew, available for Foster to Adopt/Adoptive home, he is very loving sweet bonded boy with a fun free spirit energy, still learning more that life has to offer. He is very excited about life and loves to share that with a great front paw dance and a squeal, his eyes dance with glee to be out and about, enjoys being in the car watching life out the window, loves the outdoors and can settle on the couch for a movie. Drew has a ... (Read More)wonderful innate sense with dogs and really likes the play time; light and jolly on the leash almost skipping in joy and enjoying tricks with the clicker. He is very curious about the bike-possibly a great bike a long candidate; loves hike trails; enjoys going up the bike path ramps for a treat on our bike trail walks (fun agility like); very biddable eager to please. Drew took to swimming at a park like a fish on his first trip as well as whistle training since he is an auditory BC, and of course loves retrieving and playing w different toys. He is a highly trainable, fantastic exhilarating pup that still learning about trust with strangers and enjoying his socialization lessons in real world environments. He is curious in the house, he is just a pup, but he is very easy to drop or do 'show me' and yes he loves to share great kisses. Fortunate for Drew and his littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation of trust allowing Drew to find his true self. This was an accidental litter, Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction-things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition he has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet and quality kibble. An ideal home for him would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; great fun exercise in AM and PM and a human interactive break during a long work day (dog walker/home for lunch); an excited human partner to possibly do agility with of course having his own pack to bond with and enjoy. Drew's adoption donation is $325. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. He is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ****I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus Drew's training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises.     Meet Spot! He is looking for that special home that can appreciate and accommodate him. Spot is a clever boy! He would be, considering he is a Border Collie mix! You can see Spot's intelligence in his eyes! The intense gaze that Border Collies give the object of their attention is called the Border Collie Stare, and Spot has a pretty good handle on it. He is house trained. Border Collies are the most wonderful dogs. They are fascinating, fun, energetic, and they don't mind kicking back with the family!
