|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-26-00454Rukia (female)|
My name is Rukia, I am a year and 7 months old. My mom and dad saved me from being rehomed over and over again on craigslist. I am a sweet girl with a hard past. My mom has spent months training me and I am a very good girl. I love to cuddle, give hugs, and sleep under your bed. I would do best being the only dog in the household. I am a pretty good watch dog, and I don't bark for no reason. I am good with my mom and dads new baby as well. An active family, and being with a stay at home parent or someone who works from home would make me happiest. If you would like more information about me and more pictures please email my mommy.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-20-00129Patch (male)|
Hi, my name is Patch. I am a medium energy Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. My white hair coat is short with a lot of black ticking and soft to the touch. I have a black patch over my left eye, which is how I got my name. Although I am a medium energy dog, I still need regular exercise to keep me mentally and physically fit. I am extremely intelligent, so you can train me for herding, agility, tracking, rally, fly ball or obedience. We just need to find an activity that we love and I promise it will be rewarding for both of us. I like to play ball and tug on the rope with my foster brother. I enjoy rolling in the grass and getting belly rubs. I can be easily entertained with a chew bone or a bully stick. I love to eat and I enjoy yummy treats, especially when my foster Mom freezes peanut butter, kibble and cubed chicken in a KONG! I am very fit and healthy; I have been vaccinated and neutered. I'm on Heartworm preventative and I have been treated for those pesky fleas and ticks. I am also house broken and I enjoy my crate; it is my man cave. Another plus, I have been micro-chipped; just in case you ever get lost. I am super friendly and affectionate. I really like to give kisses and snuggle on the couch. I get really excited when I see you, so I tend to jump up, but my foster Mom is doing her best to remind me that I need to mind my manners. I will follow you wherever you go, because you are a member of my herd. If you have an active lifestyle and you are looking for an active loving companion, I would like to meet you. Just fill out an application at http://www.saveourherdersoutreach.org then contact my foster Mom at firstname.lastname@example.org. My adoption fee is $250.00 and SOHO requires you to provide personal and Vet references and have a home visit before you can meet me. If your current or past companion animals are not UTD on vaccines and Heart worm treatment you will not be considered for adoption Patch is being Fostered in Elkton, VA (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-09-00624Jersey (female)|
Jersey is an incredible dog. She is professionally trained in obedience by myself (I am her owner), she is VERY obedient, loves to get out and go for walks/runs, enjoys car rides, great in her kennel, and will play ball for HOURS! We have learned that she is not accepting of infants/toddlers. I believe this stems from some negative experiences she had as a puppy. I have owned her for 5 of her 5 1/2 years of life. She is my best friend. And I am truly heart broken to have to look for a new family for her. We recently had a baby and she just is NOT tolerant of the baby. She has not bitten, but she has been known to growl and show her teeth, and I am too concerned with the possibilities of what COULD happen, should our little one approach her at the wrong time. For someone interested in agility, this dog would take you places. She is driven, attentive, fast, and LOVES to have fun. Only the perfect home will do. Thank you so much for giving our sweet girl some consideration. If you feel you can offer her the lifestyle she deserves, please contact me to set up a time to meet her. (Less)

Hi, I'm Esme. I am a sweet girl who loves to run and play. I would love to have my own kid to play with and be his/her forever buddy. I could also be a playmate for another dog or just be your best friend. Won't you come meet me? One look into my beautiful amber eyes and you won't be able to resist me.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-02-28-00227Rachel & Rebekkah (female)|
They are two sisters, 14 years old, border collie/Australian shepherd mixes. They are inseparable and very loving dogs. Good with most other dogs, depending on the personality of the other dog. Good with cats (one is terrified of them, the other ignores) and kids, still fairly high energy but a lot calmer now that they are old. Goofy and loving, very intelligent trained with sit/stay/come (though they're a bit deaf nowadays). Rachel will bark in the mornings when you get up, no matter what, so you can expect that greeting each morning--whether that's annoying or endearing is up for debate :) Looking ideally for a home with a yard and someone who is home often throughout the day to give love and let outdoors. Expenses WILL be compensated, so really just need a good home without adding the burden of costs. Though eventually looking for a full-time home, fostering would absolutely help for a couple weeks or months, if someone is up for that but not adoption. Timeframe is ASAP. (Less)

|Animal ID: 4615Polly (female)|
Polly is a border collie mix about 5 years old. When she first came into a WV shelter she was pregnant and terrified of everything. The shelter was able to find a rescue quickly after her getting to the shelter, so she could have her puppies in a foster home instead of the shelter's floor. The rescue adopted out the puppies, but thought Polly was too scared to adopt out. Polly returned to the WV shelter where she waited another 2 years for another chance. In those 2 years at the shelter she became familiar to the regular volunteers and bonded with several dogs she shared runs with. For the past month and a half she has been in a foster home where she is learning how to become a 'real dog'. At her foster home she is learning about car rides, new people (still working on), cats, walking on a leash and just being pet and given individual attention. Polly was unsure about all of the new changes, but is making great strides. Walking on a leash was a challenge for her because the other end of the leash was a stranger. Polly is still learning to go to the bathroom outside when she is on a leash, but has no accidents if she has a fenced in yard to use the bathroom. She is learning that people are not bad and will usually go up to sniff strangers instead of running and hiding like she used to do. Because Polly can still be shy we recommend a calm household would work best for her. Another dog would also be preferred because she looks up to the confident dogs around her on how to act in situations she is unsure about. Polly will make a great companion. She is loves the people she has been living with and acts like what you picture a normal dog acts like. Polly is full of personality and enjoys playing with other dogs and then enjoys relaxing on the couch. Polly may be shy, however she is completely adoptable and would like a home to call her own. |Rescue Me ID: 15-01-12-00064Callie (female)|
NEW ARRIVAL ! Callie This 4 year year old lady is a border collie from working stock. She does have a smooth coat which will make it easier than owning a rough coat. She was working cattle but then chained up to a dog house after. For a border collie her heart is not in working 100% and would rather be on a lap with a human companion or a couch. She loves all humans but at times has a hard time with dogs getting up in her face and will react. Callie has a great recall and would make a great walking/running or hiking partner. If you love the border collie breed for being smart, devoted and loving this is the girl for you. $175.00 (puppies $200) adoption donation helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases, microchipped and vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites if needed. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as surgeries and dental. |Rescue Me ID: 14-12-28-00420Goose (female)|
Goose is a female border collie mix. She does have the typical personality of a border collie, full of energy, loyal, intelligent, wants to please her handler and loves attention. She does quiet down and is not always on the go, but will still need an active lifestyle. She walks nicely on a leash and gets along with other rescue dogs in her foster home. She is house and crate trained. Goose will need an owner who is experienced with the breed and willing to provide training. $175.00 adoption donation helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases, microchipped and vaccinated for rabies, distemper/parvo and bordetella. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Virginia|
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
