Rescue Me ID: 14-07-16-00618Helen (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Last year, a forlorn girl anxiously waited to see what was next. One of forty odd dogs found by their mistress' body, Helen couldn't comprehend the structure and close human contact in the rescue environment. Now? Helen accepted grooming and bathing over the summer. Her confidence on lead has grown exponentially. She rooms with Joseph, one of the forty or so, and shows her new found confidence. For now, Helen only comes to events when requested.

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

We have learned more about Abbie! In addition to her love of children, this girl has shown us that she can get along with other dogs. Her shy nature may make other dogs more assertive with her, though. Abbie carefully watches everything around her. Her light-footed gait hints a herding ancestry'|perhaps a lab/border collie mix. She is about two years old.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Virginia
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
