Rescue Me ID: 16-05-07-00204  (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Meet Nelly! She is a sweet fox hound / Border Collie mix that was in a kill shelter so Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue pulled her. Nelly is about 8 years old. She has been spayed and is up to date on all of her vaccinations, flea/tick treatments and heartworm preventive. After proper introductions Nelly loves to romp and play with the other dogs in her foster home. She is fully house trained as long as you have a doggy door, other wise she requires timely walks. Since we don't have cats, we are not sure how she would react. This girl will not be a herd dog or a guard dog, but she will share the couch and thrive on your attention. She ... (Read More)loves belly scratches and would be great with children. The one thing that her forever family must realize is that Nelly will need a board fence at least 4 feet high. Chain link fence offers no challenge to her. Nelly is a short haired dog, so she doesn't shed much, knows what the word crate means and comes when she is called. She is usually quiet, but will bark when the rest of the dogs get excited about events outside the fence. Outgoing, friendly and eager to please, she will be a fun and loving dog to have around. To start the adoption process, please fill out an application and then contact her foster family at ch@curtharvey.com. All potential adopters are required to have a home inspection prior to placement of one of our rescues. Nelly's adoption fee is being partially sponsored and can be adopted for $125. Thank you for considering a rescue! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Virginia
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
