1 year old Chaucer is so endearing. He is high energy, but very responsive to training and correction. Chaucer needs an electric fence, be leash walked, a tie out, or fences at least 6' high to be safe. He will climb or jump lower fences. He would make a terrific agility dog - - - he has everything that is needed to excel in that sport. (And, let's face it, he's cute as can be.) Chaucer is a favorite here. He will go home vaccinated against rabies, distemper and parvo, heartworm tested negative, crate trained, wormed, and neutered. Chaucer gets along with most dogs - - - - he does best with females and and other neutered males. ... (Read More)Please give him a chance at the life he so deserves. If you would like to offer Chaucer a forever home, you need to submit an application - which you can find on our website ( (Less)

Adoption fee is my way of determining if adopter is dedicated to adoption and not a person trying out dog ownership. Will negotiate depending on distance. If adopted would like updates from time to time. Lucky received his name for being lucky that he was rescued from a unwanted home and being dumped on a major roadway. Also, it was lucky that I was the one who received him because I had just gone through a serial assault and this tiny puppy gave me the ability to sleep and feel safe in my own skin. Lucky Doors is an exceptionally smart dog he has always went outside to use the restroom, learned other commands within days like sit, stay, ... (Read More)and lay using hand motions. At 7 1/2 year old he still gets puppy playful and will play ball (as long as they are green), actually giving it back without chase. But, will also lay on his bed as older dogs do when told. He loves all animals, including cats. If he knows that the other animals is ours, or accepted as a friendly he instantly has a friend. For lack of a better word he tolerates children, he instinctively knows easy for young children, and play for older ones. We taught him to not rough house so a child can pull tails, try to ride him, or grab his tongue and Lucky will not bite or be rough back. The only time he has growled or barred teeth at my 3yr old is when James stepped on his paw and broke a nail. Of which I'm sure we can all agree we would have done the same when inflicted with pain. Lucky Doors loves his people and all the people he meets. He somehow know property boundaries, loves to explore his space, run, more space is better for this lovable guy. Luckyso only downside is that if he thinks you have been gone too long he will flip his food bowl and hide the food. He has also on those times found a piece of mail or paper to shredHe has on occasion shown his Jack Russell side with amazing escapes of leaping a fence, or finding the smallest whole to squeeze thru. He also likes a variety in food, so once every so many months he will decide he no longer like the food and we have to switch flavors or brands being used. Season changes come with a slight skin irritation that cortisone spray or benadryl clears right up. He is my dog and he is very wanted but circumstances of black mold and other problems in my home have caused a need to move and we haven't been able to find a friend or family to keep him until we can find a home for our family. This is leaving Lucky staying an unsafe health wise home by himself and essentially homeless. We love our Lucky Doors but he deserves better than the situation we are in. I'd love to find temporary housing until we are settled but I don't know how long that could be. So a fur-ever home is great with the right family, or person. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in West Virginia
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
