Rescue Me ID: 14-07-13-00650Buford (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current

I am Buford. I am a Large Black and White Young Male Lab Border Collie Mix. I am approximately 2 years old. I weigh approximately 75 lbs. My owner passed away and I ended up at the shelter so SWVAL rescued me. I am friendly and affectionate. I love to give hugs. I do tend to jump and my foster family is working on that and I am getting better. I have lots of energy and love to run and play. I do well with other dogs, but I play very hard and love to frolick. I tend not to know my own size and strength and I may upset them w/ my puppy demeanor and frequent floppiness. I have not been tested with cats. I will obey the basic commands ... (Read More)'Sit', 'Stay' and 'No' but I do get excited and want to love on you, so I may forget or not listen immediately. My foster family is working on this too. I am a very good boy. I just love people so so much! I am very strong and like to explore when I am on the leash, so a harness is best for walking me. I love to play with toys! I do not try to climb or jump my kennel. I do tend to 'soft-mouth' you. This is not aggression, I am only trying to play and express affection, because I was not trained differently before coming to SWVAL. It is not biting at all. My fosters are working on this and SWVAL can tell you how to control this. I am a comedian and I am always doing something funny or silly and making my foster family laugh. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am Trace. I am a Large Black Border Collie Pitbull Mix. I am around 1 year old. I am approximately 60 lbs. I was rescued along w/ my siblings from a very bad situation. They found homes but I did not. I get along well with other dogs. I am very good about staying in the yard at my foster home. I am learning to walk well on a leash and making improvements all around every day. I am housetrained. I have never hurt a child, but very young children make me nervous and cause anxiety and I tend to growl, therefore SWVAL feels it is best if I am in a home w/o small children presently. I am working with a professional trainer and I am showing ... (Read More)improvement in this area. Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

4 - 6 year old Bubbie was found as a stray in a rural neighborhood He was turned into the local shelter there and then rescued to AHGRR; Bubbie is an incredible dog; He is very affectionate, playful, and funny - but he does not do well with kitties. He is not aggressive with most other dogs, but does not seem to enjoy their company, and will pick on a very submissive dog. Bubbie is not recommended for children - he would do best in an adult home - and he's waited for that home for some time now. If you would like to offer Bubbie a forever home, please submit an application which you can find on our website ... (Read More)http://www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in West Virginia
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
