***Please note: If you live outside of Portugal, you can still adopt Estrela. If you are the right family, we will arrange for her travel.*** Estrela is a gentle dog who has gone through some difficult times but has recovered beautifully. She was rescued after being run over by a car and had an injury on one of her legs. She has had many physiotherapy sessions and is now fully recovered. Estrela is happiest in a calm, natural environment, where she can go for walks away from people. Currently she lives in the heart of Lisbon and only gets to distress once a week, at her walks in a forest park. So the ideal family would live outside the city ... According to the behaviourist who sees Estrela, she could really benefit from another dog in the house, if this dog is a calm, gentle and experienced dog. She knows basic behaviours (sit, down, up, come, touch... - trained with these words in English) and wees and poops outside. She is 2 years old (vets' estimation), weighs 17 Kg, has been neutered, dewormed and vaccinated. Estrela is a wonderful dog who is waiting for a great family to share life with. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Border Collie in Portugal
Border Collie Dogs can make good pets in Portugal if they match your IifestyIe. Border Collies are extremely intelligent, faithful dogs who live to please their masters. Border Collies need lots of attention and praise. They respond to high level obedience training and make excellent Frisbee dogs and farm workers. Border Collies do well in large yards or with acreage and they need a job to do. If a Border Collie becomes bored, he will find his own job to do and it may not be the owner's idea of work. Border Collies do well with older children and other dogs, and some Border Collies can coexist with cats. However, it depends on the dog, and generally Border Collies should not be trusted with non-canine pets.
